Recommendations please

Have you tried engine de-greaser? Might be worth a try, it's pretty strong stuff.

I tried googling it but not a lot of help there.

Dettol? That is what I use if I spill oil on lino.

Industrial strength 'grease-cutter' is used in professional kitchens. So, if you know a chef or kitchen porter, you might be able to scrounge enough to do the job. But if the paving has absorbed some of the oil, you do have a problem.

Stand a pot plant on it.

I have the same problem with dripped olive oil on parquets flooring It seems to have sunk in. x

Cement dust will draw oil out of paving.

Dry, not wet.

Cat litter? Or try something like flour? I presume you need a 'dry' substance that'll soak it up. Neat washing up liquid left to soak in?
Could you phone the people who installed it, they may have some ideas.

Slightly off post but loopylou's google search suggesting Pepsi or Coke reminds me they're also recommended for cleaning old and stained brass. I've never been a fan of either drink - what on earth is their impact on our inner workings

Don't worry about the impact of Pepsi or Coke in that respect, Iam64 - the reason they're so good as cleaners is because of the citric and carbonic acids they contain. You could just as well use citric acid on its own - and you'd be avoiding the stickiness of cola!
My mum always swore by a couple of sticks of rhubarb boiled up in a saucepan to remove any stubborn stains. Acid again

Salt. Lots of it and then use a strong de-greaser like Deepio. It's expensive so see if you can scrounge some from your local pub. They use it for cleaning out deep fat fryers.

I would try whatever you are thinking of using to get rid of the oil with a test patch first in a place where it would not be seen.

Thanks everyone. I have found Gunk from Halfords which is specifically for driveways. Will let you know the results

I was going to suggest he should pour oil all over, so that it matches!
