Happy Birthday Soop. I am playing "Happy Birthday" for you right now, loudly so you can hear it up there in the wilds.

Charleygirl Fri 07-Aug-15 22:29:22

Happy birthday soop. I know of one very disgruntled 4 legged beastie boy who will not be very happy that you and McSporran have the temerity to leave him for so long. Enjoy lunch and as it is close to the sea- the view will be fabulous.

Have a sooper day soop. winecupcakeflowers

Today was DH's 70th and he has been really spoiled with presents, long walks with DD2 and then it was spoiled by watching his team LOSE on the TV as he and the other (family) supporters ate enough pizza to sink a football team. grin

Great to to have you back again pompa, we have missed you.

janerowena. I would suggest going for an independent group, rather than U3A. A mix of age groups is much better. Our group, has ages from 15 > 70+.

annodomini Fri 07-Aug-15 20:57:17

Happy Birthday soop and a great year to follow. flowers wine and a wee dram or three.

Gagagran Fri 07-Aug-15 20:30:52

janerowena Fri 07-Aug-15 20:12:10

Happy Birthday Soop May the sun shine on you, I hope you have a lovely peaceful time and a wonderful meal.

I shall suggest it, pompa. We have a brand spanking (I hope not) new U3A in our nearest small town.

soop Fri 07-Aug-15 17:09:49

number the garden is very close to the care home. I love it.

pompa Bless your cotton socks, it really is a huge treat to have you back with us lot

I shall be celebrating my 74th birthday tomorrow. We are taking the short ferry journey over to the nearby island of Gigha. A new-ish restaurant situated by the water's edge has been recommended to us. The weather is most definitely improving. The sun will shine again tomorrow (I believe)...I may not pop into our kitchen until late afternoon. In the meantime, continue to be kind to each other because you are all very special peoples (as Torben is known to say.)

janerowena, get your friend to start a group in Bury. Our U3A group started with just 3 members, we are now 7 and meet in a members lounge. Even beginners an help each other, you don't have to have an experienced leader. I'm sure a card in Tesco's etc would soon get a group going. Another advantage of starting a group is that you can decide the day/time.

There are so many free instructional videos on t'internet that you could watch and learn from as a group.

How lovely Soop. I`m ashamed to say that although we`ve paid many visits to Campbeltown, we`ve never been to that garden.

soop Fri 07-Aug-15 16:19:44

One seemed to have not been included.

soop Fri 07-Aug-15 16:17:44

Alea I enjoyed reading about your meeting with your half brother and his wife. I'm also very pleased to hear that you will keep in touch with each other from hereon. The gift of the photo book must have thrilled him. Good for you. It couldn't have been easy for you to begin with. You are very brave. flowers

pompa Your story sounds almost too good to be true. The ukulele was meant for you. Oh happy Mrs pompa...you will be serenading her as the sun goes down. grin

I'm including photos taken in the Linda MacCartney's memorial garden in the heart of Campbeltown. It is such a peaceful and beautiful tribute to her.

dustyangel Fri 07-Aug-15 14:12:00

Very pleased it all went well Alea. I hope they liked his photo book.

janerowena Fri 07-Aug-15 13:35:26

pompa grin I bet Mrs. Pompa was so pleased for you! grin

I passed on the links to my friend, but she says that the thought of driving down there in the winter is too awful to contemplate - it's not a good drive to Sudbury from where we live and I wouldn't want to do it. We shall just have to hope that a club comes to Bury St E at some point.

So pleased for you Alea!

Bellanonna Thu 06-Aug-15 22:49:42

Alea, so pleased. Had been looking out for your post, and delighted it went well.
