Interesting meeting my half brother and his lovely wife yesterday. They are very nice people and very genuine. The story of his adoption is a sad little one but as he says, he actually had a very loving and caring upbringing with parents who were able to send him to Grammar School, encourage his love of music and send him to university, something his young mother in London probably could never have done.
What struck me as odd though was that there is a family resemblance so the OUTSIDE looked familiar, but the person INSIDE was of course a stranger(albeit a friendly one). Does that sound silly? I hope and plan to keep in touch and also did my best to "flesh out" the man who was our father for him.
Unlike Davina McCall, (Long Lost Family) I did not feel a strong kinship or connection just because we are who we are, but we had a fascinating and quite emotionally charged 3 -4 hours of talk, photographs, documents and, from me, as many anecdotes about my father and his family as I could remember.
