Alea can you please share with me how one gets a Photobook printed? I though that you were creating a straightforward album. I've a good feeling that your meeting will be a positive experience. If, for any reason, you feel uncomfortable during the reunion, call for a taxi and take your leave.
MacSporran has another appointment with the doctor on Wednesday. Some of the previous test results fell a little below anticipated/hoped for levels.
It is raining and it is chilly. I'm wearing woolly socks and a large scarf (along with other items of clothing, naturally.) It has been a disappointing summer.
Alea; I honestly believe that you'll feel as if you've known each other forever. I'm so excited for you.
We are meeting sort of half way in a place some Midland grannies will know, entirely public and I am going by train so I don't have to worry about traffic, parking etc. It was a silly thought that it might be a hoax or scam as there is no money at this end!! But you know how your imagination can run away with you late at night.
Despite finding it hard to believe at first, I am so hoping I will not be disappointed
When reading your story it hadn't occured to me that it might be a hoax. It would be a very cruel one if it is, so I do hope it is all genuine and a very happy if emotional meeting for you.
Alea Where are you going to meet up? Is it somewhere in between where you both live? (Neutral ground.)
I worked late into the night yesterday compiling a "Photobook" which I am having printed to take for my (new) half brother when we meet next week. Quite an emotional exercise, and I found myself getting cold feet, wondering what if this is all an elaborate hoax or a genuine mistake?
These books are such a nice way of sharing photos too, granted you can't see what is written on the back like in an album but should stand the test of time.
DD and SIL gave us one for each of the DGSs and I am hoping there will be one of DGDs first year sometime (hint, hint)
Tired though.
Your hair is lovely, soop.
I shall be not far from Brighton, in a village on the coast. My mother is just outside Battle, so it will still be a bit of a trek, but not as bad. I shall email my stepfather each morning I think.
POGS Rory has now perfected the art of yelling when he needs feeding. Honest to goodness, considering that he was deemed "unapproachable" that cat has learned an awful lot (to his advantage) since moving in. I found a photo of his daughter cat - Tortoiseshell. She is a regular visitor to our diner. Mother hasn't been around for a few weeks. She often goes off on a walkabout. We hope to see her again soon.
janer thank you for updating us. Your account of being surprised by the knitting club members, made me smile. Good for you. You appear to have coped remarkably well.
Whereabouts in Sussex will you be staying? Perhaps a phone call on the day that you hope to visit would be a sensible idea.
I'm having a look through all sorts of photos. The second image is of my hair hanging loose. Few people have ever seen it so. The third image goes back to when we lived in Cornwall. MacSporran has since lost a great deal of weight.
Lovely photos soop!
Yes, I am still here but today is a sort of day off, as DBH is on the other side of the UK doing his athletics. I haven't had much free time, while the weather is good I have to get on with the garden, the veg growing in particular, and masses of cooking that comes as a result - jam, cordials, freezing, etc. and much of the fruit preparation is done outside. I never buy in ready meals, so cooking a main meal and making salads for lunch always takes up a lot of my time. It's raining today however, so I catch up with the forum more and do more housework and mending and things indoors.
We have been having temperatures here of roughly 26C on average most days for ages now, so a drop to the current 16C feels like winter!
I was gardening in my front garden on Thursday evening in the sunshine, at around 7.30 people started arriving - I had completely forgotten that I had said I would host the knitting club!
I was so lucky - I was dressed reasonably neatly for once, I had had to wait in the house the previous morning for a parcel delivery (our garden is too long for me to be able to go far away from the door) so had got on with some housework, so it wasn't looking too bad, and I had even picked some flowers that morning when doing some deadheading! How often does that sort of thing all come together, I wonder!
Anyway, DBH was completely sociable, and was even cracking jokes so I think I can start to relax a bit now. Still no biopsy results for DD, DS's results not due until 2nd week in August, and although we have managed to find somewhere in Susex to stay for a week to relieve stepfather, my mother is saying she wants things to stay on as they are and doesn't even want to see me or any of us, my sisters or friends. I fear she is being a bit tyrannical to stepfather, and am not sure how to get around that one. We are still going to go down, maybe shall just turn up and see what happens, or phone him first to see what he thinks on the day. It's a bit of a minefield, my mother has always been both awkward, and not quite as other mothers, but I am very fond of my stepfather. I'm fond of her too, despite herself!

I wish I was a cat in the Macsporran home!
anno she always looks this way. I shall try to find images of her daughters.
Isn't she pretty! A sort of muted silver tabby with almond eyes and looking remarkably well-groomed for a feral cat.
The middle image is Rory's pretty wifelet.
Nellie Wow! I have listened to Placido with a smile spread across my face. Thank you. It happens to be a great favourite of mine.
Alea I am so sorry that you were subjected to such a nasty outpouring of bad manners. Such people make my blood boil. Oh, had I been a passenger in your car...heaven only knows how I would have reacted. I shall leave you a virtual gathering of wild flowers. There is beauty in this world of ours. We must try to rise above the trashy folk who have no regard for anything other than themselves.
dustyangel Rory was, at one time, the alpha male in the feral cat commune. If you could see him when he lolls over MacSporran's lap and dribbles with pleasure as he's petted...you might think otherwise.
number It must be difficult to try to persuade your husband that a little regular exercise is vital for his recovery. As for your "problem", you need to see the GP and get matters sorted. You are bound to feel unwell until you do. Please make an appointment.
Soop Here is a treat for you for letting us use your kitchen. I know you are a fan of this guy.
Thank you for having us.

Alea that's really horrible. I'd have been so upset. For the princle in itself, his unwillingness to reverse, his anger and that awful language. Hope you feel a bit better now.
Really need some comfort! Nasty nasty rude young man shouted extremely norty words at me in Waitrose car park today. He was with a woman who was driving the wrong way round the carpark one way system and expecting me to give way. I stood my ground but they kept coming so I wound my window down and pointed out it was ONE WAY to which he shouted "f...ing OLD c..."
It was actually the OLD that really hurt, but honestly how stupid can people be and /or selfish as in "I want to go this way so stuff you"! And SO rude.
I'm always up for listening reading someone's long ramble. --Especially when DH has been asleep in his chair all afternoon.
I hope everything goes smoothly for you in the run up to your holiday Numberplease
soop do you think that could be one of Rory's grand or even great grand kittens?
PS, that cat is in Mia`s favourite position!
Soop, he`s doing quite well, according to the cardiac nurse who called round, I thought, for a few minutes, but he was here for an hour and a half. Trouble is, hubby won`t do everything he`s told, if I don`t watch the pill dispenser, he either forgets to take them, or takes them for the wrong day, and he won`t exercise as much as he`s supposed to do, because it makes him breathless, but the nurse said that the breathlessness will improve the more he exercises. We go away on holiday in less than 3 weeks, I`ve arranged for the hire of 2 mobility scooters, they`ll be delivered to our accommodation, they`ll be very useful, as where we`re staying is a fair trot from the quayside, I`ve done it on streetview, it may be deceptive, but looks about a mile.
Alea, I`m agog with excitement for you, I hope that this new chapter in your life will be as good as it sounds.
I didn`t make my usual Saturday trip into town today, didn`t feel up to it, in fact, I feel more down to it. I`m suffering a lot of discomfort as a result of not having "been" more than twice in the last 2 weeks (hope that wasn`t TMI!) Hopefuly things will improve very soon.
Sorry for the long ramble, bet you wish you hadn`t asked now!!lol!!
Another sunny day here in bonnie Kintyre. We've had a pleasant walk this morning. A young cat walked towards us...tail up and looking uncannily like Rory. The cat then proceeded to roll around on the ground and purr. It was wearing a collar and couldn't be one of Rory's offspring because he had the snip some long time ago.
Nellie You need a kindly helping hand around the house right now. I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling fragile. Try to rest and conserve your energy. A gentle (hug) especially for you.
kitty You certainly have a lot to deal with and, as usual, it appears that the bulk of the duties are being carried out by the willing few.
I do not envy you having to spend an evening with you-know-who. I would sooner stay at home. However...needs must.
Crafting Come out of that corner right this minute. You may relax on the chaise. The sea and islands are bathed in sunshine. Thank you for the virtual, straight from the oven brownies. Oh, my word, how delicious they appear to taste.
Alea I'm feeling excited on your behalf. The photo book that you are making as a gift, is a wonderful idea. A whole new chapter in your life story is on the brink of becoming reality. Goodness only knows how you'll be feeling as the moment you will meet each other draws vey close. Eek!
number Is your husband feeling very much improved? You have both been through a tough time.
I'm also thinking of janer.
Lona Thank you! The chocolate cake is wonderful. I was away for a few days last week, We ate all the biscuits before I went and I have not been near a grocery shop since.
I am having to wait in today for some gardening man who is supposed to be coming.
Nellie I'm sending you some
as well as a large slice of chocolate cake! Hope you feel better soon!
Alea I imagine this will stir up such a lot of different emotions for you, and memories of your father. Exciting though, I hope you like him!
Nellie what a pity you are having to wait so long for your test results, it delays new treatment and leaves you anxious and feeling rotten. I hope you see some improvement before then anyway. Cake will help I'm sure.
as well.
