No anno, been out most of the day and missed it completely. Whenever I see a beautiful green place advertised as a holiday destination, I think "must rain a lot there." grin

Galen stop messing about we're starting to get worried now hmm. What do you mean you've become attached to the Pluto probe!! ....Galen come back...

annodomini Thu 16-Jul-15 19:50:07

dustyangel, I like watching the Tour de France but did you see the weather on today's stage? The rain was bouncing off the roads. It's somewhere around the Pyrenees which isn't exactly the driest part of France!

Bellanonna Thu 16-Jul-15 18:55:30

Me too

sally345 Thu 16-Jul-15 18:34:27

Janer, Just wanted to send my best wishes for a happy outcome.smile

soop Thu 16-Jul-15 14:20:59

Where is pompa? Has Galen landed? wink

soop Thu 16-Jul-15 14:19:19

Yes. That would be a wise thing to do. flowers

janerowena Thu 16-Jul-15 13:59:30

Thanks for that information, she is meant to be waiting for a call, but is trying to find out for herself. I'm laying fairly low on that one, but I may suggest she rings the surgery if she hasn't heard by tomorrow afternoon.

soop Thu 16-Jul-15 13:30:08

Hello to all our Kitcheners. The sun is shining but it is clouding over and I understand that the weather is about to turn unsettled...high winds and thunder storms.

janer kind friends in times of need are what all of us truly appreciate. You will feel so much better if you can actually visit and weigh up the pros and cons of local care homes in the area where your mother lives. I feel sad for your stepfather. At the very time of life when one most needs to be fit and able, it is a bummer that the opposite happens.
Your daughter must be feeling extremely stressed. As annsixty says, I'm sure that it may be that her GP gets the result of the test in the first place. I do hope that she will be reassured.

annsixty Wed 15-Jul-15 21:19:49

janerowena while knowing just how your DD feels I would be very surprised if the hospital will give her results over the phone. They do like to give the news in person ,for reassurance and to explain what is involved if further tests or treatment is needed. I do hope that the news , when she gets it is good.

Bellanonna Wed 15-Jul-15 21:12:05

Jr - as a comparatively new gnetter I'm not up to speed with everyone's worries, but I do know you are waiting for DD's clinical results. Nothing worse than waiting. Been there a lot with DH. Also now care needs for your Mum. It all seems to happen at once but somehow something gets us through. I know you'll keep the Kitchen posted.
Sally, you too have been through the mill. I hope you continue to make a good recovery and keep popping into the kitchen to update us. The St swithun's thing doesn't usually mean 40 days of rain and I'm sure you'll have some good weather to relax in down in your lovely part of the UK. Keep posting x

janerowena Wed 15-Jul-15 20:49:59

Indeed it does, and it helps to know that other people understand that feeling of fogginess, not thinking clearly, and also of panic at times, on behalf of others, when you yourself are also not feeling too good at any time.

I have had the offer of a friend's house for a few days, only an hour from my mother. That will help hugely. I shall look at a few respite care homes on one day, so that if DM ends up in hospital again she can go in for a few days rather than my stepfather have to be left alone to panic.

DD has started phoning the hospital just in case her results have come through early, silly girl. One half of me can't blame her, the other half wonders how many others like her there are, all clogging up the lines with their worry.

sally345 Wed 15-Jul-15 19:55:00

Kittylester Thank you for your best wishes it really helps smile

sally345 Wed 15-Jul-15 19:52:22

anno My fear was born of a very nasty incident when I was a child. A gang of pals opened the lid of an old chest (we were in a place that used to house pigs). The boys poked a stick around and fished out a huge spider cocooned in it's web. I was chased for what seemed like forever with the spider on the end of the stick. I screamed blue murder in panic. Much to the delight of the boy chasing me. I also managed to get away.shock

I think that way back in the mists of time, spiders may have been enormous and possibly poisonous. Perhaps the fear experienced by some cave dwellers has leeched down through the generations. Just a theory. Yes, the web is a work of art. I also think that they are marvellous creatures. However the fear is deeply ingrained...I'm ashamed to say.

dustyangel I've been dusting a book shelves. A job that I put off for as long as I can. I'm glad that I decided to knuckle down and clear some of the dust...which has almost certainly parked itself elsewhere. grin

My second son is a great fan of cycling. It doesn't do anything much for me. The Davis Cup starts soon, I believe. I shall enjoy watching some matches.

dustyangel Wed 15-Jul-15 16:29:51

JaneR and kitty I hope no one ever feels bad about unloading or venting on here. Most of us would love to be able to help and if that helps it's fine.

soop I hope you are sitting down having a rest now.
For those missing Wimbledon, have you thought of watching the Tour de France. Beautiful scenery this week. sunshine

annodomini Wed 15-Jul-15 15:35:06

soop, I never took you for an arachnophobe! Think of the intricate beauty of a spider's web wink.
ann60, I'm glad the first ordeal wasn't such an ordeal after all and that you are feeling fine after it.
janer, you're not having an easy time and it's good to have us to unload on - just go ahead, any time.
I visited my new dentist for a routine check-up. He is a very pleasant young man who said that, although his predecessor used to do a scale and polish every time, he didn't think that was necessary, thus halving the previous cost. I always knew I was paying for the previous dentist's children to attend posh schools!

A bright and sun-filled good afternoon to you lovely lot...I trust that you are in good spirits. I've been ironing all morning and my back aches something rotten. Never mind. I'm home at last and MacSporran has made me a pot of coffee.

sally345...my goodness, you have had a lot of ill health to contend with. To have both forms of leukaemia must have taken it's toll. How long have you been so poorly? Has the treatment enabled you to return to a normal-ish routine? I am really pleased that you have joined the merry band of Kitcheners. It does help when one can share a problem and, it's also even better to share a happy, uplifting event.
As for the tennis. I do miss it. This years tournament was one of the most entertaining. I loved Dustin Brown. Wow! sunshine

janer A gentle hug from me to you. smile

kitty When I read that your daughter had reached a decision (one that you had hoped for) I thought to myself...Well done, kitty, for keeping your opinions to yourself. I am chuffed. flowers

kittylester Wed 15-Jul-15 07:30:48

It is good isn't it, Janer. Hope everything is ok with you.

So sorry to here you are unwell, Sally flowers

I'm feeling relieved as far as DD1's house is concerned as she has decided the house they were looking is a compromise too far! And I did it all by sending vibes rather than having to talk to her!

janerowena Tue 14-Jul-15 19:15:01

Thanks for all the good wishes, it really helps to be able to have a little vent and not fear upsetting anyone. smile

sally345 Tue 14-Jul-15 19:12:20

soop Tue 14-Jul-15 17:06:35

Someone posted a photo of a Wolf spider on FB. Although the lady lives in Kent (and the spider lives beneath the shower unit), I am in a state of shock. Need to log off and calm down with a brew. Arrrrrrrrrrrgh shock

soop Tue 14-Jul-15 16:38:04

Galen I shall shift Rory from the chaise and vac the stray hairs before plumping a cushion and pouring wine in readiness for your return. grin

Galen Tue 14-Jul-15 16:33:37
