janerowena it never rains but it pours- fingers firmly crossed for your DD's results next week.

I cannot believe that it is dull and damp here having had wall to wall sunshine for weeks.

janerowena Sun 12-Jul-15 22:36:11

I held back for a bit again as things are still not right here. DBH is much better, DS also, DD's tumour results will be back next week and the suspense is killing me... But then late last night, just as I was feeling great after having done an amazing concert, I opened an email from a sister telling me that our mother has managed to break her back again, in two places. This morning, another sister, then the last. I've had to ask them to hold the fort until I can cope with it all mentally, at least until after DD's results come through.

On the plus side, we had our first family day out today for over a month, visiting a lovely garden, buying lots of plants and eating out. It was lovely to hear DBH laughing again. Maybe I can face phoning my stepfather tomorrow. He told me nothing at all when I emailed him, she doesn't want us going down and fussing but he isn't coping well. Parents, eh...

Galen you missed so much

Bellanonna Sun 12-Jul-15 18:24:52

Galen, you can come down now. It's a Wimbledon-free zone. Hope you enjoyed your cruise through the stars.

Charleygirl Sun 12-Jul-15 18:24:17

My apologies "ann60*, the brain has melted watching so much tennis that I forgot to wish you a very belated happy birthday.

soop Tara is now going out for many hours before she returns for a rest or a pitstop. I have no idea what she does outside but she appears to have given up catching mice and birds. She always brought them home, alive or dead.

I would not think that Rory would ever stoop to such depths. It is amazing though, knowing his background. Maybe age is playing a part.

Tegan Sun 12-Jul-15 18:15:31

I enjoyed it at first but after a while just fell that Novak was always going to have the edge over Roger. Good, professional tennis, but it felt a bit passionless. Ladies doubles match last night was awesome!

soop Sun 12-Jul-15 17:36:25

A super match. Such energy and expertise. Roger played well. Novak was that little bit better. Congratulations to them both for their sportsmanship.

Night night for now. moon

annodomini Sun 12-Jul-15 16:35:04

Oh, ah, I notice that Novak is not exactly grunting, makes an audible exhalation of breath when he serves or thumps the ball hard.

soop Sun 12-Jul-15 16:31:36

It is a thrilling final so far. I've polished off my Magnum Black Espresso ice cream. Rory sat staring at me throughout. He's now strolling around the garden. The sun is shining. He's on yet another diet. MacSporran thinks that Rory looks "tubby". He even suggested to Rory that he might like to enjoy the fresh air and "catch a mouse"...I ask you...as if Rory (wonder boy) would stoop to such depths. wink

Lona Sun 12-Jul-15 16:29:33

On Roger, please don't let him beat you! shock

whitewave Sun 12-Jul-15 15:31:55

Oh oh oh!

Charleygirl Sun 12-Jul-15 15:29:10

sally345 we are a very quiet and refined lot here. Rory would not move if I was sitting next to him because I have given up giving the players instructions at the top of my voice.

soop I rarely take anything for pain and was raking around the other day and found tablets but the use by date was 1985. Not even I would take them. I do not like taking analgesia so I have not. I am hoping that I will have another POP applied on Wednesday- the present one is only keeping my big toe warm.

What am I going to do next week with no tennis to watch? Maybe return to shredding paper? Rory at least will be better cared for as there will be more time for him- he loves being stroked.

annodomini Sun 12-Jul-15 14:31:18

No problem with gmail which I have just checked.
Roger has just broken serve! I'm so glad that nowadays he has ditched that swanky blazer that Niké used to send him out in! Both of these players demonstrate that it's possible to play fantastic tennis without grunting or shreiking. And as I've been typing, Novak has broken back! tennis tennis tennis

whitewave Sun 12-Jul-15 14:07:00

Roger forever! Such class.

Lona Sun 12-Jul-15 13:31:30

No soop, are you on gmail or something else?

I'm really looking forward to the tennis, I hope it lasts for ages before ROGER WINS!!! grin

soop Sun 12-Jul-15 13:26:47

By the way. Is anyone having difficulties accessing their emails today? confused

soop Sun 12-Jul-15 13:24:54

Good afternoon sally345 It does take time to navigate through the forums and threads. I tend to stick to the kitchen. I feel comfortable here and I like our Kitcheners...a lot. wink
I did respond to your first message. My husband, like you, has a form of Leukaemia. I hope that you are continuing to recover well.

Bellanonna Rory has left the room. He's on the doormat and far enough away from his lady slave's screams of encouragement whenever the final is played. Come on Roger!

MacSporran popped a couple of Magnums in the freezer. I shall make the most of enjoying mine a little later. Wimbledon is coming to an end...together with the treats that I convince myself are necessary on such occasions.

Bellanonna Sun 12-Jul-15 13:05:48

Lovely to hear sally345! Yes my iPad has a mind of its own when it comes to typos! Enjoy the tennis. I will catch up when it's all over, philistine that I am. Yes Rory is a cat, beloved of Soop and her guests. I gather he doesn't budge for anyone. Enjoy the kitchen, and the other threads too. smile

annsixty A very HAPPY birthday to you. You shall have the chaise with a view of the sea and islands. You shall have as much virtual, calorie-free cupcake and wine as you wish. Also sunshine lots of it. smile x

annsixty Sun 12-Jul-15 12:43:39

soop happy birthday to your son. It is a very good Day to be born and it is mine as well . I have reached a very ripe old age and wonder if I qualify for the rocking chair in the corner of the kitchen with a cream cashmere throw or will someone else beat me to it. Enjoy the tennis all you fans, not so much tension now.

soop Sun 12-Jul-15 12:34:11

A cheery good afternoon to you all. It's grey and humid and drizzling with rain. There are a few patches of blue sky so perhaps the sun will break through.

My eldest son is celebrating his 54th birthday today. He has been making me laugh (over the phone) for the past 30 minutes. He is blest with a delightful droll sense of humour. If ever I'm feeling a little blue, he turns my mood around in an instant. sunshine

His son has recently returned from Uganda. He and his girlfriend (who is a film maker and also works for a children's charity) have been working in Kampala. They took time out to visit the source of the Nile. Some fascinating stories to share with the family.

Charleygirl how are you today? Is your appetite returning? Do you have the pain under control? I hope so.

soop Sat 11-Jul-15 20:13:05

I've really enjoyed today's tennis. Tomorrow is the big one. I would like Roger to win. We can't all like the same thing. That would be oh so boring. For all the Kitchener tennis fans...make the most of it. The golf from St Andrew's will be coming up next week.

Wishing you all a peaceful evening. smile moon
