So glad you enjoyed your lunch with the granspals, soop. The photos are lovely of you all smile

Yes, I also had a lovely day out. I have always had a soft spot for my nephew. He was the first baby in the family and I spent a lot of time with him in his babyhood. His little boy is a carbon copy of his daddy and was very well-behaved all day. Loved every minute smile

I haven't mentioned her lately, but my dear sister has been extremely unwell all the time I have been visiting, so we have not had much opportunity to get out. It seems she is becoming weaker and more fragile by the day. I shall find it so hard to leave her when I return to Malta in a couple of weeks sad

Well, I am still smiling to myself as I recall the lunch in Inveraray. I wish that I lived in a more accessible location. As the crow flies, we appear to be well placed to visit Glasgow and beyond. However, we are very much out on a limb...Kintyre being a long, thin peninsula. I would be very happy to meet-up with many more of you lot. hmm Never mind, once in a while I enjoy a treat with those Granspals who are prepared to do a bit of motoring to a half-way point. Elegran had a very long journey from Edinburgh. Baubles from Glasgow. bags and I live about a couple of hours journey apart. Winding roads that wend their way around several lochs.

We managed to visit our pal in hospital in Lochgilphead. The pain in his lung, due to a blood clot, is responding to treatment. Sigh of relief!

Bellasnana I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed a day out with your nephew and your great-nephew. They are so alike. I loved the photograph that I saw on your FB page. smile

Galen Safe travels and lots of fun and laughter when you (and your pearls) set out together on the high seas.

HappyNan1 Sat 29-Aug-15 09:39:54

Have a wonderful holiday Galen and remember to send us all a postcard .smile

dustyangel Sat 29-Aug-15 09:06:16

It does sound lovely soopand baubles I wish it wasn't so far for me to come. smile

Well done, re the packing Galen (and Kate!) In case I don't get a chance to drop in later, I hope you have a marvellous time and smooth sailing.

baubles Sat 29-Aug-15 05:35:35

Good morning soop and kitcheners.
Such a fun day yesterday. It was so lovely to see you again and have a natter. Elegran and I finally parted company with bags at 10.30 pm!

annodomini Fri 28-Aug-15 19:01:59

Good pictures of the 'pals' quartet. I specially like the one where Bags appears to be wearing a spectacular floral hat. grin

Galen Fri 28-Aug-15 18:50:23

Bella as if I would shock

Bellasnana Fri 28-Aug-15 18:32:29

Well done, Galen. Don't forget to pack your pearls will you grin
Hope you have a lovely time. Bon voyage!

I'm not a jealous person at all but confess to being the teensiest bit envious of the grans who met up with soop today. Glad you had a lovely time.sunshine

My nephew took me to Leeds Castle for the day today together with my great-nephew who is six years old. We had such a good time and I really treasured every minute. smile

soop Fri 28-Aug-15 18:09:25

A lovely, lovely, lovely lunch in Inveraray with three of our lot...THANK you...

I have only just returned fro visiting our pal in Lochgilphead hospital. He is recovering, thankfully. I now need to unpack the groceries. I promise to return tomorrow to catch up with my dear Granspals.

Three photos for you. One sunset from a few nights ago. Two pics of baubles Elegran bags and moi. xxx

Galen Fri 28-Aug-15 18:00:38

Well you lot! I've done it! I'm PACKED!
Well all apart from jewellery, pills and cosmetics, all of which will happen tomorrow, all ready for the off on Sunday.

Judthepud2 Thu 27-Aug-15 23:34:53

soop thank you for posting that poem. My lovely aunt is gradually sinking into the horrible state that is dementia. She is getting more and more confused and panicky. That poem is a timely reminder of her needs. I'm going to pass it to her children who get so annoyed with her.

Bellanonna Thu 27-Aug-15 20:40:11

soop. That was so moving

Alea Thu 27-Aug-15 20:22:01

I am very much looking forward to your pics janer, make sure someone takes pictures of YOU, not like DD1's wedding where I seemed to take pics of all the family and was hard pushed to find two of ME sad
Have a wonderful time, it should be a joyous occasion smile

soop Thu 27-Aug-15 20:19:48

Have just had call from our friend. Her husband does have a blood clot on his lung and infection in the wound. Will remain in hospital and has new medication to deal with the problems. Phew! moon

janerowena Thu 27-Aug-15 20:12:27

That's lovely, soop. I have several friends with parents who suffer from it.

I hope we do get some good photos. DBH will be happy doing that for me, thanks for the reminder. It's a hassle taking the big camera but the photos are so much better than phone ones.

soop Thu 27-Aug-15 19:45:29

janer Have a perfectly wonderful wedding weekend. We look forward to photos. flowers

soop Thu 27-Aug-15 19:43:43

Especially for Alea and our Granspals who have personal experience of this awful condition. sunshine

janerowena Thu 27-Aug-15 19:41:44

I do hope your friend is ok, soop. Hopefully they were able to give him something to dissolve the clot. I hope you have a good meetup.

Alea I dare not post on your thread, I fear my choice is far too contentious.

I am off tomorrow to my niece's wedding weekend. I am plucked and dyed and stained and oiled and will be trussed up like a chicken on a factory line hoping to be chosen by Waitrose rather then Asda. I have just had a message from DD asking how big an evening bag I am taking with me (it's evening dress)... I suspect I shall be required to take a larger bag than anticipated so that the DGCs can be kept occupied and clean. I reminded her that her OH does possess pockets in his suit!

My sister has booked a quiet room for children and one for DBH and any other sufferers needing to get away from it all for a bit. I shall be forever in her debt for that.

I do hope Galen is having a lovely time. I'm feeling very jealous.

soop Thu 27-Aug-15 19:39:57

Dearest Alea No...you are the saint. I'm usually connected to the internet this late in the day, but I'm eager to hear news of our friend.

You will have a wonderful first birthday celebration on Sunday. I can feel it in my water! I shall do my best to copy the poem for you. Fingers crossed, I may be able to do it before I close. Hold on. I'm about to do my best. flowers

Alea Thu 27-Aug-15 17:31:37

Soop you are a saint! (I wish you lived near me though!)
Your lovely and moving Alzheimer's poem on the "other place" has just made me cry.
Do you think you would be able to post a copy or picture of it here?

We have just had 3days of back to back hospital appointments, fortunately all at our local hospital. DH has had an iron infusion (I wonder how he would react to magnets?) a blood transfusion and so many blood tests I felt like asking them to lob a third unit in to make up for what they were removing for testing! However it is making him much better company which is good as I seem to be hosting DGD's FIRST BIRTHDAY lunch and birthday tea on Sunday. DD was worried we wouldn't make it up to hers so thought it might be easier to move the whole caboodle to here so we have to be present! How did I let that one slip past me? I am about to compile my Ocado order (15 of us) or it might be a loaves and fishes jobbie.
I hope you and everybody will be posting on my "contentious" thread (about your favourite colour of kitten) although I realise tha I may have started something [shivering in shoes] emoticon grin

soop Thu 27-Aug-15 13:24:45

Our very good friend has had knee replacement surgery. He returned home on Monday. He looked absolutely fine as I did the ironing yesterday and was his usual perky self. Last night, he was re-admitted to hospital with a suspected blood clot on his lung. We've been servicing our friends letting apartment this morning. It enabled our friend's wife to catch up with the extra workload that comes with certain unexpected happenings. Hopefully, all will be well. We cannot help but feel concerned.

soop Wed 26-Aug-15 18:01:55

Charleygirl The weather here is marvellous. I fear that I may need to take photos of yet more sunsets. Eek!

Luckygirl the backside is heart-shaped. Sweet!

Luckygirl Wed 26-Aug-15 17:47:05

Nothing like a deer's backside to work up an appetite! grin

Charleygirl Wed 26-Aug-15 17:02:25

What a beautiful view at breakfast time. The deer must feel safe or she would not be bringing her fawn so close.

We had a little thunder and lightening here in NW London and the rain was like a river, running down the road. The sun is now out but I am unsure for how long.

Tara has been out since 8am this morning- where she goes I do not have a clue but to date she has returned every night. I did think that the rain would drive her home.

soop Wed 26-Aug-15 14:46:20

Hello, hello, hello.

Ironing duties done! Rain stopped! Sun out!

number It is just as well that 'Vintage Vera's' is no longer open for business. Had you found some stunning "must haves" I would have been tempted to have a look. I could so easily open my own wee shop. However, we are not in the right location. MacSporran wouldn't approve of folk traipsing through our front door and Rory would be most unwelcoming...

dusty I gathered that you meant before going through customs. Our pals who travel widely take advantage of purchasing perfume and booze whenever they can. MacSporran and I do not take holidays abroad. I did visit Crete over 30 years ago. I remember having a wee bottle of Cointreau and an equally wee bottle of Brandy to bring through customs. I was most anxious that I may have exceeded the amount one is entitled to. Hardly slept a wink on the night prior to departure. Daft as a brush, me. hmm

Galen I'm excited for you. I also think that you deserve some special tender loving care and plenty of sunshine wine and more besides.

janer Good! You also deserve to enjoy a happy evening with companions. I am looking forward to meeting with bags and otherGranspals at the end of the week.

Backside of the deer, taken through the window at breakfast-time. Also, a rather blurred image of the fawn enjoying Mother's milk.
