Downstairs toilet

Congratulations nansy isn't it strange how something like that can make such a difference to our comfort. We have always had a downstairs loo but when we moved into this house luxury of luxuries a small ensuite. DH has made it his own but will share with me (and only me) when the family come to stay. I must say I love having the bathroom to myself most of the time and not having to wash my face in a basin where others clean their teeth is wonderful.

How I envy you Nansypansy. I've thought long and hard how I could put one in my terraced cottage, but without changing the dining room to a bathroom, it's impossible. I shall have to move one day

When we moved house three years ago it was one of the things that was a must - it had to have a downstairs loo, so that when we came back from a long walk we wouldn't be beating each other up the stairs to get to the bathroom! We looked at the option of fitting one in our other house but we could only do it by converting the garage, and it would have been complicated. We now have three toilets, so no waiting! DD and co are on holiday at the moment in a lovely cottage but she was commenting before they went about the fact that it only had one toilet. "I suppose we'll manage" she said. How quickly things become priorities!

Yea, makes life just that little more comfortable.

Two loos are wonderful.

I have an ensuite loo and one in the bathroom. Essential when the grandkids come round. My first house only had one loo and it was tricky at times. Never forget the time when we all went down with sickness and diarrohea. For me having two toilets is a luxury having grown up, as most of us did, with only one toilet and that was often outside.

I would not want to be without a downstairs loo. My house was built with one. My sister has one cleverly fitted under the stairs but a lot depends on having enough height in the stairs.

When I occaisionally look at houses near my DD there are very few even modern houses that seem to have a downstairs loo.

That sounds very interesting - the wash basin is on the cistern? What a brilliant idea for a small space. In our last house the toilet was really small and the door was marked by splashes from the basin - so I painted a summer meadow on it so the splashes didn't show amongst eh flowers. (I did still wash it - but not daily!) I enjoyed doing it so much I continued on around the rest of the walls!

I had one put in under the stairs years ago, despite OH saying waste of money. I wouldn't be without it and he now says what a good idea of his it was! Enjoy!
