After using newspaper and then moving up in the world to tracing paper Izal, today's rolls are luxury whether front or back hanging therefore no hang up problems for me!

Hope you are enjoying , , or whatever takes your fancy off your ironing board. Don't waste it on ironing.

grandma2213 does that mean you missed the 15 or so pages outlining grans' preferences for hovering or sitting (loo wise)? More worrying, surely ..?

Coolgran Go for it! I have not ironed since I had a replacement hip 8 years ago and could not manage it after the op (except for a couple of times when urgently needed clothes were found screwed up at the bottom of the wardrobe). I have discovered that the human body is a natural iron!

By the way the long discussion on toilet rolls deeply worries me and I'm not even a psychologist!

I once wrote a funny poem on the merits of hanging up clothes in wardrobe and stuck it on the front of ds wardrobe. Didn't make a whit of difference.
Now he is a research scientist and his wife is a lecturer of music in uni. They don't own an iron. They also don't appear to have a resident house fairy...... though a lady who 'does' arrives once a fortnight to do a blitz on kitchen, bathrooms and all floors. DH and I visited last year for 3 weeks. It's amazing how it is possible to manage without an iron, DH was not convinced. But mouth zipped

My DH is fantastic. He does everything around the house if I let

him and he does it as well, if not better than me, except for loading the dishwasher and hanging out the washing. Oh, and he's a Swiss-trained chef as well! and he's gorgeous and very sexy! I'm a lucky girl! By the way, when our daughter was still living at home, I once left her nicely ironed clean washing on her bed with a note saying " With love from the laundry fairy." I thought it might shame her into doing her own ironing, but she didn't even comment!

No Ana, it doesn't look right hanging at the front ! No logical explanation, just call it a quirk. Maybe my mother did it that way? I just don't remember, but just have to reverse it when the OH does it. Weird, I know

No, it's not that. You use the hand you have just wiped with to pluck the next piece of toilet paper. If the paper hangs to the back you might touch the wall with a germy hand.

I think I have it in my head that the paper will get damp from the wall (as in the olden days), but also it just doesn't look right...

My DH would agree with you three. He always hangs it to the front and I always have to change it. Until now I'd just thought it was the male way of hanging it !
