How stupid is Corbyn getting

Shock, horror, we have a politician who believes in discussion with the people, who wants to hear their concerns, the man must be stupid , we need more like IDS , don't we ?

I suppose no one saw the first on BBC 2 of Indian trains .

Indian men are pests, as are some of those here in UK in art classes!

It would be easier to police than the first class carriage. It is still quite easy to notice the difference between men and women without asking them to show their ticket.
As others have said, Corbyn will discuss this idea, among many others, as he was asked to by women.

What nobody appears to have noticed is 12Michael's idea that Corbyn's ideas will put the basic rate of tax up to 35%. That needs to be challenged just as much, and shows how wrong 12Michael is. He is just anti-Corbyn.

If the concept of women only carriages worked 75% of the time, I would still say that it works.

I don't think anyone is anti-Corbyn, but quite a few of us are anti Corbyn ideas and policies I expect, we can't all think he is the best thing since sliced bread!

It would be a retrograde step. Women are no longer shy little flowers that need protecting. Where two or more women are gathered together, (sorry to be biblical) they should be able to protect each other from verbal harassment.

The man is archaic.

Anyway, it only matters what Corbyn will do if he ever actually got into power, and was then in a position to effect change, as it stands, he can't do anything, either stupid or sensible.

"Some of his ideas are stupid hope he does not win" sounds anti-Corbyn to me.

I agree with jingle. Been discussing this at work and the reason why we still need Women's Aid, Violence Against Women is because the core problem has not been addressed. She is quite right it would be a retrograde step. Women are not the shy little things they were and men have to be educated that women are not objects.

It has only been put to him. It wasn't his thought. He has said that he might consider it.

Agreed jings and bookdreamer about it being a retrograde step if it were to happen. Let's hope it doesn't.

The underlying problem, and why this suggestion has been made, is that some men are still thugs when it comes to women (some women are thugs too, let's not forget). The issue at large is how society deals with, or rather prevents, assaults from happening. If there is a rising number of late night attacks on women on trains by men then those trains need more policing, more police patrols at stations and even perhaps on trains.

I honestly don't see how carriages called women only carriages would act as a preventive measure.

All women are vulnerable sometimes. As are men actually.

According to the link, there is a lot worse than verbal harassment going on sometimes.

Sometimes other parties nick or adapt others' ideas.

I dont think it takes much imagination to see them being used by some passengers.

Now if women were in there, and they didnt get attacked, those non happenings are not going to get recorded.

Statistics getting produced at some point, are never 100% accurate, and so people dont know what didnt occur.

Well yes, but would a Corbyn government, should there ever be one, not spend more on policing? Anti-austerity does mean spending more on public services, doesn't it?

I agree that it's down to money in the end and that better policing to prevent such attacks would cost more than putting signs on railway carriages saying "Women Only". But I think it would more more effective (I don't think the railway carriage idea would be at all effective) as well as more costly.

Agree with you Thatbags. however, if it is a real problem then women should not use late night trains at all, use buses or taxis instead( trains are not particularly cheap.) This may force the train companies to re think their policies and actually do something because their profits drop.

Whilst I accept that the core problem is the men who attack women I'd much rather be protected whilst that's being dealt with.

The point people are missing here as did the origi so post is that it wasn't JCs idea so.some suggested it after the transport police a ounces how worried they are about women's safety and JC simply said that could be something that can be discussed. I wish everyone would get a gripe!!!!!
