Am I alone...

We are at DD's.
Poured with rain this morning so DGD and I made some chocolate buns (14 in all)
By lunchtime DH & I beginning to get cabin fever so after lunch took DGD to Boscobel House where Charles II hid out from the parliamentarians. Interesting for us but a bit dark and gloomy for a five year old, but she quite liked the four poster bed and the suit of armour. DD stayed home while DGS had a nap and SiL went shopping.
Still raining when we came out, so gave the farmyard & garden a miss and came home, to find only 8 chocolate buns left
DgD and DD now icing the buns with vile coloured icing and I am taking DGS out for a little walk as it has stopped raining.

Glad it's not just me and DH. Terrible day here, too. The only bit of excitement was this morning when DH had to go to the shop to collect his 'click and collect' light bulbs. While he was in there I rushed through the rain to the Range shop next door, which was absolutely packed with wet bank holiday makers. I bought some red artificial flowers for the second bedroom before DH called to ask where I was as he was trying to find me. Turned out he was only 10 feet away and couldn't see me. After that we went to Morrison's café where it took them 25 minutes to cook some toast and bring it to us as there was hardly any staff on. I've just been for a 20 minute walk (should have been 25 mins, so I can gain an extra 7 years of life, but it is very boring walking round our village) between rain showers. Oh, well, at least Coronation Street is on tonight.

My best friend and I had planned to do 3-hour round walking trip along The Thames with a pub lunch at the half-way mark - instead, because of the rain, we went to a local restaurant and had cocktails, wine and rump steak

I did intend the day to be healthy but the weather had other ideas.

No pudding though

You wouldn't believe how crowded Southend sea front is. What is it with people? Do they think that because it's the seaside the sun's going to shine.

I don't sleep well and was still awake at 5am. Eventually took myself to the guest bedroom where I could fidget to my heart's content. Woke at 10.30am and DH was up. He made bacon sandwiches for brekkie/lunch. DH then freshened grout in bathroom while I did ironing. Hmmmm...with little dips in and out of GN.
Dinner will be yesterday's roast chicken and gravy, stuffing, roast carrots and broccoli cheese, with chips done in the Actifryer.

DH has finished the grouting and has now moved onto the bath sealant.....clearly the sealant is not as cooperative as the grout. I can tell by the change in his choice of language.

I hate bank holidays. But there was a summer fete here today, so I ventured out to watch the Morris dancers, and bought a couple of old books and hand-crafted cards. The sun actually shone for a while.

Even though I was up at 6.30 I achieved nothing !
Faffed around with breckie and newspaper and a bit of GN watched HUTH then took DH to get petrol for the mower. Then lunch and and another visit to GN for the past 4 hrs I've been working on a jigsaw.

We did go out in the end (DH wanted to look at laptops!).
So glad we were going west on the motorway, not east, which was one long traffic jam for miles and miles.

Well that's the BH and the summer over, the oven is clean and the showers free of lime scale. I watched 'Network' Peter Finch's last film which was electric but disturbing and appallingly have already had a glass of wine and some cashews nuts. Homemade chicken curry for dinner and the last of the apple and blackberry crumble for supper. DH is bored rigid and fidgety so I 'm here on my lap top in the spare bed room laughingly called my study so he gets a quiet half hour with football highlights (he's too kind to put them on when I'm in the room even though he could watch them on the TV in his study). So waffle waffle waffle- hope you are in for a nice evening. Its eventually stopped raining here at about 5pm.

Oven's still dirty, although the shower is clean!

A glass of sounds like a good idea as it is BH and I have a tin of salted almonds somewhere.

I could have done a whole lot of knitting today which was my intention, but never mind .....

Just come back from my second short walk of the day in the pouring rain. I bought a mac in Black's sale a few weeks ago and it's hardly been off my back. DH is fiddling about in the garage trying to install a new outside light. He must have taught the neighbours' children a few new swear words while he's been at it.

Rosequartz - what about the traffic coming home?

We have just had a crafty G&T just because it's a BH you understand and I'm feeling just slightly better. I don't want many more like today though.

I am going to make my crumble - at last. DD is going to make her pasta speciality. Things are looking up.

And I'm going to light the fire.

I haven't spoken to a single person for 3 days.
Today's car boot sale cancelled due to incessant rain. Two short walks with dogs.
Yesterday's washing still wet and masses more to do.
Painted a table, cleaned the bathroom, made soup, read newspaper and a daft book. Looked up forecast for tomorrow as I have small children all day and there's NOTHING to do in my small town. Played a bit of Bach.
Found wheelie bin full of maggots. Murdered them with bleach.
Is this as boring to read as it was to live through?

That doesn't sound boring at all! You have actually moved about!

Well, apart from the clothes I started off wearing, I have added a camisole, pair of socks, scarf and fluffy cardi!
I am NOT putting the heating on yet! #it'sstillsummer!

Mine's been on for weeks!

Annsixty - you are so not alone! This morning I was going to a Farmers' Market but it poured with rain here and it was quite a walk from the bus stop. I booked a ticket for Gemma Bovary for tomorrow afternoon and wrote a short poem for a competition. Did a tiny bit of a needlework picture DD gave me too many Christmases ago. Kept (so far) to SW food optimising plan and listened to the radio a lot while I pottered.
In fact quite a good day but sometimes I can spend 2 or 3 days intending to walk to the shops, not quite getting it together to leave the house, and by Wednesday feel I've done nothing. Most of us have ups and downs and the weather doesn't help, or the news.

No heating but put my fluffy bed socks on halfway through the afternoon. In between meals I have done - surfed G'net and FB; wrote a long email to American friend; had a long chat with sister in NZ; read quite a lot of chapters of a Kathy Reichs book; put the recycling bin out; watched the Edinburgh Tattoo on TV. What do all these (in)activities have in common? I've been firmly attached to my chair!

I loved Riverwalk's idea of fun - cocktails, wine and steak! She is my type of person indulgent.

I nipped out to Waitrose mainly to show off my smart new rainhat that is purple with tiny white dots. I bought it at a craft fair yesterday and the lovely young salesperson suggested I wore it at a rakish angle to look at my best. I think I either looked the business or some silly old bird with a Norman Wisdom slanted hat.

It would be lovely if we could have a sunny September and an Indian Summer

I hate the thought that summer is over, Autumn can be lovely, but it's a heck of a long time until next Spring.
