I've had enough!

nelliemoser I'm in N.Ireland. It has been consistently cold all summer with the temperature straining to reach 16C. Average has been about 13/14C. Today I put on my thermal vest!!

But we are forecast an Indian summer this coming week! Still, as we all know, 'they' are usually wrong.

That's the trouble teetime the 'air' has not had time to warm up this year. As soon as you are out of the warmth of the sun, it is quite chilly, sometimes really cold. The sun just did not start to shine early enough in the year, and we have had no really long spells of heat to warm everything up. That is of course, apart from the really cold rain.

Well, after a slow start here, I think it's been a lovely summer. Sorry all. Handful of bad days and a couple of really nasty ones. Haven't needed a coat and been in short sleeves most of the time . However, winter/ autumn started with a vengeance on 1st Sept. We had heating on for a couple of hours. Nice again today and DH says due to get wat Dr at end of week.

Well, I still have my shorts on - and I live in Scotland where the temperature is normally a good 10 degrees below that enjoyed by the wimps lovely people living in the South of the country . I have to admit to wearing a t-shirt in bed last night until I warmed up and then cast it off. I haven't turned on the heating yet but put on a few more clothes if I feel a bit chilly. Winter is long enough when it comes so for me, it is still summer

Well it's cold here in the SE at the moment and I, too, love my hwb. Thyroid to blame I think but apart from the earlier heatwave I have always had my hwb on my feet in the evening. I love the comfort.

I wonder where you cold souls were this summer? I understand Scotland Northern Ireland have been chilly but even in a rather wet Yorkshire last month I didn't find it really cold.

Have used hot water bottle through the summer, not even worn one summer skirt, have had heating on some evenings through the summer months, we didn't get the warm weather the South of England had in July, really fed up of the cold and rain

My CH has never been off, it cuts in when the room temperature drops to 21.5. There is no way I could live in the north of England without heating.

Shorts packed away, winter duvet back on, garden furniture stored away and slow cooker in use! Summer is officially over

We have had these temperatures pretty well all summer! Count yourselves lucky that those of you in South of England had some heat in July ( I know because I was there on 2 separate occasions). Here in NI we have been sat in a northerly airstream for about 3 months!

I have the heat on morning and evening and have returned the electric blanket to the bed! Summer clothes? Hah! Most of them didn't even get out of the storage bag.

GREEN WTH ENVY Galen. This time last year freezing. This year boiling! menopause! At least last year it was cosy fire and warm throws. This year DH will have to shiver or layer up! Might save on heating bills though

Can't say I've been cold enough for the CH to be on, I'm still hoping we will get some late Summer warmth...

Hello Galen! You look very well. I am even more jealous than jings.

The heating is on for an hour every night now, it has made a big difference. I do feel a bit guilty, but DBH hates the little halogen fire I use for a bit of a boost, he says it hurts his eyes.

I crossed that emoticon out. Didn't work.

I am putting my winter duvet on tonight, after finally buying a new one.
I don't know what got into the dog, but she peed on the old one. I took it to the launderette to wash, which was fine. I sent DH back for it, and he saw fit to put it in the drier! He melted it!!!
Won't it be lovely to be war in bed again?

Changed my duvet to the winter one two nights ago and slept better than I had for days while I was trying to convince myself it was too early. Couldn't drag myself out of bed this morning though, partly because of a headache but mainly because I was just too cosy

The heating has been on for a few days in the evenings as well. Why suffer?

I'm getting an extra quilt out today so that I can pull it over me if I feel cold during the night. I've started using a hot water bottle this week and am thinking about getting an electric under-blanket. Does anyone recommend a good one?

This morning it was warm enough in the sun to sit outside with a cup of tea at nine o'clock though (with a sweater and two t-shirts on), and there were no midges. Gotta be good!

Down to one t-shirt now and it's cooler in the house than outside.
