I've just seen this pic of mobile phones. Which one did you have?

Our first one in the mid 80's was attached to a car! It was really my DP's work phone. My first actual mobile isn't pictured there. It was just a brick! I had handme down (from DD) nokias (no.6 from L) for a few years and now I have a pay as you go Doro. Suits me fine though texting is a bit slow (as I insist on full words and proper punctuation). I like that it's a flip phone and I no longer keep accidentally ringing people

Were they still around in 1999? Blimey, DD was already on a nokia by then! I swear the four years of carting mine around (Ex bought me one pretty soon after they came out - last thing I wanted!) were what caused my shoulder to seize up. I had mine from 1990-1994. The battery seized up completely after that, thank heavens. My shoulder seized up after having ached for the final couple of years. I was too scared to leave it behind, he was always ringing me on it for some silly little reason.

Mine looks like the 3rd from the right. I hate the things, only use it when absolutely necessary, so it hardly ever surfaces. The one on the extreme left (the housebrick) looks very similar to one that my daugter made us take away when we took her 2 children on holiday for a few days, in 1999, she wanted them to be able to keep in touch, but it was a blooming heavy thing to carry round every day.

I started off in 1997 with a Nokia. In 2010 I bought a £20 LG phone in a great hurry when my Nokia died and OH was in hosipital. On black friday last year I got a half price deal on a Samsung smart phone.

I've got a doro phone similar to the third from the left. It takes photos and has a built in radio (which is not very good). It does everything I need a phone to do. I have a tablet to do all the rest.

Same as Greyduster. I only recently acquired the Samsung smartphone and have grown to love it now I am used to it. I know a few people who still use number 6, the most reliable ever.
My first was a small brick sized green Swatch, a limited edition given to me by DD2 when she worked for Vodafone. I don't know where it went, it might have been a collectors item by now.

My earliest one isn't there, but it was similar in size to the 2nd from the left. You had to take the battery off the phone (it was attached to the back) and slot it into the charger unit. So the phone was out of action until it had finished charging (several hours).
Later I had (reading from the left) no. 6 which was the must have phone at the time, then nos. 8, 9 and 10. I loved no. 8, it had a 2mp camera which was crazily advanced for its time .

I have the end one on the right - but was happier with the sixth from the left! No complications!

I started out with the one on the left! It weighed a ton and only lasted eight hours, it took all night to charge. Then went to the fifth from left, then fourth from the right and now have both of the ones on the right, or thereabouts.

My museum piece is mostly like the 3rd one from the right, but it does all I need it to and costs me £11 a month for unlimited texts and far more call time than I could ever use.

When my OH was a GP in a rural practice eventually they managed to afford a mobile phone and it was the size of a brick and only worked in a few locations. How times have changed! Mind you, we still have no reception here!
