Anyone know a town crier?? Having a debate at panto rehearsal about how to pronounce 'oyez'. Is it a short 'yez' a drawn out 'yeeeez' and is it 'yez' or 'yays'?
No wonder I'm having senior moments with a brain full of this sort of stuff.......

Newish to gn. Who is lynda Snell?? Am I being a bit slow on the uptake?? [Confused]. This not officsli but our local TC sounds like "oh yeh". As its panto you could put your own spin on it grin

Ana is right - 'Oh-yay' - it's Old French for the modern 'écoutez' - 'listen'.

I will impart this to my merry little band at next rehearsal.....there will be some disgruntled faces but I'm the director so that's just the way it goes!
