Rude bits

In Sweden they have invented a word for female genitals it is snippa ! The equivalent male word is snoppa .

"Rude bits"? Oh, FGS. What on earth is 'rude' about vaginas and penises? Only because people make them so. It's time that children were taught to name their anatomy correctly as a matter of course and then there would be nothing rude about them. It's these silly coy nicknames we give them that are the really rude words!

DGD calls it her 'coochee'. We grown ups use the Maltese term which sounds like 'osh'(don't know how to spell it and it's a bit vulgar ). We also use the Maltese for 'bottom' which is 'patata' and is quite acceptable even if talking to a doctor

For some reason my parents called my brother's 'willy' his tail! They were/are very prudish about all things under the pants! When my son was growing up we called his his willy but we didn't ever call my daughter's bits anything so I don't know whether this could be considered as a failing on our part! Or is that 'parts'. I'm afraid my DH and I still use the non anatomical names . Even though I had a medical career and am familiar with all the correct terms. Even vas deferens (bloke's anatomy)which I always think sounds like vast difference!

I use the correct terminology, and I don't like 'down there' as a term!

Our DDs knew 'penis' and 'vagina' from toddlerhood.

I heard 'ladygarden' recently which I rather liked as a jokey reference - do much nicer than the abusive terms 'c--t', twat, and so on.

Wasn't there a song in the 70's called 'I want you to play with my ding a ling'. Bit of a double meaning there- my kids were giggling over that one.

I am teaching dd such words as oesophagus, trachea, intestines, colon, rectum, arteries, arterioles, capilaries, veins, bladder, kidneys, urethra, uterus, umbilicus...

She was learning some of these words from age two.

Fanny packs? Good question

When talking to her little ones (boy and girl) about their - as she puts it - "bits", my daughter says "willy" and "flower". Time enough to be correct later. I rather like "undercarriage" as someone mentioned. Never heard that one before.

But aren't fanny bags worn at the front ?

Yes, I think most of us knew that!

Vagina is mostly used. Fanny is referred to as the back side.

Out of interest, Envious how do Americans refer to a woman's 'front bottom'?

I wouldn't advise using fanny if you moved to the states

I call mine 'Mary' don't really know why or who started it. I think it was my grandmother. My two daughters always referred to 'it' as 'Mary' and now so does my granddaughter, although she does say vagina too, she's 8yrs old.

ng when given we always refer to minny for little girls and winky for little boys ...my nan had other ideas mine was always referred to as a moneybox made life very confusing when given money for your moneybox ...

My DS call his a dingle. No idea why. My DGS also uses this word. With both my daughters we called it "pinny". Again no idea why!

My mum called our girlie bits an omptypom! My daughter and I have had a lot of laughs over the years as her dad was a Belgian and so is her hubby and they can never get the pronunciation right. But it is a great word as nobody else has a clue of what you are talking about!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't like anatomical words for small children. If parents teach their 2 year olds to say vulva and penis they should also use buttocks and abdomen instead of bottom and tummy.
Willy and tuppence in our family for little ones, I wouldn't refer to a 2 year old's as her fanny, nor would I use it to a doctor when meaning my own bits.
