Relative freedom
Relative peace
Relative good health service etc

Anyone else?

It is about time The Welsh got a look in on our Union Flag. That lovely Ddraig Goch would look good. I am sure someone could find a way to fit a Red Dragon into the union flag. Then it would at least look like a flag of the United Kingdom.

Perhaps split our current flag into four sections.

England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Since the formation of the The Republic of Eire It might be better to leave off St Patricks flag and incorporate the flag of the the province of Ulster instead but that just might not go down very well with Northern Ireland's Catholics and republican sympathisers.
Better not try it for at least another 100 yrs wink

Time to stop these crazy ideas. And so to bed. moon moon

I'm sure some would prefer 'The Red Flag' - got to be inclusive, you know...

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 04-Oct-15 22:59:22

I think I might be perfectly happy living in France.

Sometimes I think we should mention to the migrants that living in this country isn't all it's cracked up to be. It could be a tiny bit over-rated. I mean, it's ok but.... well, there are other countries which are alright as well.

I would quite like to live in Madrid. But it's a bit hot in the summer.

rosequartz Sun 04-Oct-15 22:59:49

I think the one shown in my link is very suitable.
It wouldn't take much to change it, just sew a patch in the middle of each flag hmm

rosesarered Sun 04-Oct-15 22:59:59

Maybe wait a wee while in case Scotland break away from the union, if MS has her way then no sooner will we have designed a new flag, then we will be designing another one.
probably better to leave things as they are.
Elegran, you have now put Jerusalem into my head ( and I know every word.)

Nelliemoser Sun 04-Oct-15 23:00:11

Rosequartz You just crossed my post. An excellent flag idea you found there.
You could call yourself Quarzite.

Lots of Rose type names as well as Nellies,

I am glad to be British because I can speak my own language , if I left the UK I would have to move to Patagonia grin

I love that in such a small Island one can drive through a beautiful but flat county and see the most beautiful mountains in the next county. I love the beauty of the Cotswolds, Yorkshire Dales and Moors, the coastline of Cornwall, the cities and towns in the North of England because one can feel their history , love the rivers , love the lochs in Scotland , love every blade of grass, grain of earth and stone in Wales . And that we say 'so sorry' when some idiot walks into us

I do love the UK

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 04-Oct-15 23:02:47

They've got all those things in other countries. The UK is only divided from the rest of Europe by a tiny strip of water.

Anniebach Sun 04-Oct-15 23:02:57

That was kind Nelliemoser , I think a dragon slam in the middle would be just perfect

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 04-Oct-15 23:04:02

I don't understand why anyone would want to fly a union jack, or any flag really, in their back garden! I think it's a bit odd. grin I'm sorry, but I do.

Anniebach Sun 04-Oct-15 23:05:01

I wouldn't know jingle , have only left the UK once to spend two weeks in Paris, have always holidayed in the UK

Elegran Sun 04-Oct-15 23:05:29

That is an economical recycling idea, RQ No need to scrap all the existing flags, just issue an update in the form of a dragon patch, plus perhaps a needle and a length of thread to sew it on with. Could they be sent out to all citizens along with the election roll notifications, maybe, to save double postage?

Anniebach Sun 04-Oct-15 23:07:28

I think being a spare patch stitched on is an insult

Elegran Sun 04-Oct-15 23:07:48

The patches would have to be printed in Britain, though, on British cotton if anyone still makes it, not imported from China.

durhamjen Sun 04-Oct-15 23:08:33

Aren't you assuming there, Elegran, that everyone has a flag?
Not that I wouldn't mind having a Welsh dragon, but I haven't got a flag to sew it onto.
I imagine I am in the majority here, too.

Elegran Sun 04-Oct-15 23:09:34

But it would be very expensive to replace all flags in public places with a completely new set - our taxes would probably go up to pay for them.

rosequartz Sun 04-Oct-15 23:10:04

And that we say 'so sorry' when some idiot walks into us
Yes, why do we do that?

I like the changing seasons, although I am less keen on some than others.
Deciduous trees and the autumn colours, even though they make a mess when the leaves drop.

Elegran Sun 04-Oct-15 23:11:29

Who knows - if everyone were issued with a free flag, perhaps they would be more inclined to use them? Perhaps not, though, people don't always value what they have not paid for.

rosequartz Sun 04-Oct-15 23:11:58

I think being a spare patch stitched on is an insult
Oh, sorry, I was just trying to be helpful and save some money at the same time. I didn't mean it to be insulting.
It would be a very nice patch, a flag within a flag perhaps.

rosesarered Sun 04-Oct-15 23:12:32

Elegran grin

Elegran Sun 04-Oct-15 23:13:23

They don't always value what they have always had, either. An elected parliament, free speech, impartial justice, all taken for granted.

Anniebach Sun 04-Oct-15 23:14:44

I do have a few Welsh flags but not one union flag , I do not put my Welsh flag in the garden though

rosequartz Sun 04-Oct-15 23:15:17

Perhaps we could have something like the Australian flag, only it could be a Welsh dragon with a Union Jack in the corner.

I'll get my sketch pad out tomorrow
moon

rosesarered Sun 04-Oct-15 23:15:34

Free flags for all! That could be the rallying cry for some new age type leader couldn't it? I think that could be a winner.

Anniebach Sun 04-Oct-15 23:16:15

Rosequartz , who would want to be a spare patch sad
