Carving Halloween pumpkins

Pumpkins store all winter if you keep them from the frost.
They are really easy to hollow out and carve - Google for ideas

Wouldn't do it more than a day before as they soon lose their umph

I would use a battery t light rather than a candle in your pumpkin, less pongy

I'm hosting a Halloween Party and sleepover for 3 sibs (hence the 3 pumpkins) and I thought that carving their own pumpkins would be a fun activity for them to start the evening

Yes do it on the day or the day before. You can get little carving kits from sainsburys or pound shops which are good for kids. Get a big bowl to put all the innards in and spread newspaper on the table. Cut a circle out of the top and keep it to replace at the end it then is safe to use a tea light in. Good fun.

Thanks suzie for the sainsbuy/pound shops tip for carving kits Bought 3 pumpkins today and they're now in the garage, ready for the fun.

And make sure you save all the 'innards' to make pumpkin soup or chutney or pie. There are loads of recipes online
