Alea that photo of your daughters is enough to bring a smile to anyone's face. Poor Grace really looks sad, I hope her tail heals well soon. And, every time I see a photo of her on your rug, I mean to tell you how much I like the rug. I've remembered at last.

ann It must be so very hard. I hope your husband is alright and also that you didn't do your self any injuries whilst extricating him. Do you belong to the Carers Association. They might be able to help you arrange some respite care. You need to be able to have a regular break.

soop - the collapsing and general hopelessnes of the nether regions seems to go with age - I do hope all the investigations go well and that they are able to find ways of helping you.

ann - "don't need help because you are there to look after him" - hmm. Not good. They need to be thinking of you too. Have you got a CPN involved? - that might be the person to talk to.

So many people struggling with problems in all this wet and miserable weather. What we need is spring! Last of the Xmas pud still in fridge and up for grabs if anyone could face it!

DH is struggling with new PD meds that are making him feel grim - but he is being very stoic. Thank goodness for the visits from the lovely GC! Yesterday my 2 year old GD was gazing at the corner of our fireplace and after much thought said: "Grandma, why do you have all these webs in your house?" - Perhaps it's time to spring clean!

Both the house moves have been completed now and I've been recovering today from four very physical days, by lolling on the sofa drinking lots of ☕ and eating ?!
for annsixty too, that must have been frightening. The ambulance service are always happy to turn out and lift people who've fallen Ann, don't go hurting yourself!

I just popped in to say goodnight to all our lovely Granspals. Alea the wedding photographs really are delightful. You all look stunning. I'm pleased that you have a very happy recent memory to savour. As for your dear husband. Well, surely you cannot be left to manage the hospital appointments without some support. Do you have a close friend or neighbour who can accompany you? Naturally you are concerned for Grace. She will improve but, as with most things that are sent to try us, it will take time.

annsixtyyou deserve and need an occasional few hours away from home. Can you ask a friendly neighbour to sit in during your absence? Dear me, you must have felt awful to discover your husband's legs stuck between the banisters. The fall could have been so much worse.

moomin and number I shall return in the morning. I promise not to be so down-hearted. I am NOT fretting about my silly health issues. It is the mess that this world of ours is in that has caused me to lose my sparkle.

We visited our pal in the care home this morning. A lady resident was sobbing. She could not be comforted. Outside the window, the rain piddled down. The Campbeltown road was flooded in a few places. One of the fields has been transformed and now resembles a lake. The cattle were huddled along side the hedges. The sea birds and geese were having a jolly time splashing around to their hearts content.

We do not have a nurse now ,we were handed back to the care of the GP practice in the summer and saw our GP just before Christmas. He told her we didn't need help as I look after him. It is hard to argue in front of him and they don't take much notice however I will have to approach it again,it is not going to help if I go under as it will not with you Alea

annsixty so sorry to hear that. Is it possible to get "husband sitters" via your Alzheimer's nurse?
You have to be able to take a breather at the very least.

So sorry that you`re not too well again Soop, I hope that they get you sorted out very soon. And as for MacSporran saying that tortoiseshell kitten "isn`t coming in", didn`t he say something very similar about Rory quite a while back?

Commiserations soopand all feeling low. It must be the weather,the time of the year and encroaching age that brings us down occasionally.
My H is losing more and more of his memory and his anxiety is getting worse. I have been leaving him in alone a couple of times a week for an hour and a half to shop and see a friend for coffee but today after I returned he fell down the stairs,he wasn't hurt just shocked but he ended up with his upper body about 3 stairs lower than his legs which were trapped in the spindles of the staircase. It would have been funny in other circumstances but it took me quite some time to extracate him as I am small and old and he couldn't help me. I felt very sorry for myself I can tell you. Now I think I can't leave him at all.

Sorry things are not so good for you at the moment soop - hope it all gets sorted quickly. Alea I love the photos of the wedding and of poor Grace, dogs certainly know how to make us feel guilty don't they! Hope you manage to cope with the various hospital trips, it must be so wearing for you.

Oh dear massive bouquets of to all of you with health issues/family problems/poorly pets or all 3 at once. Being pulled in different directions is the hardest of things to cope with.

I shan't add my woes in detail, but DH is not great at the moment, not acutely ill but enough degrees under to make him a bit(!) sorry for himself.
We have a plethora of hospital appointments both locally and in London, the latter being absolutely knackering despite using taxis, and I seem not to have a free day for the next 3 weeks.
Grace's tail is giving me some concern, but perhaps I just need more patience. She tends to moan and grumble to herself when she is lying down, of corse that may be because she hates her buster collar, but simply cannot be trusted!
I look back at the wedding (and the photos) though and it gives me a smile.
And I remind myself that things could be considerably worse (and not infrequently are!)

I apologise for being so dispirited. It is unlike me to be downcast. A virtual huge group (((hug))) for us to share.

Thank you for your kind messages. I've learned to cope with drop-bot. There are countless Gransnetters with far more serious and debilitating conditions to contend with. It is they that deserve our support. I'm waiting for the date of the next consultation. One must remain patient (and grateful) in view of the mounting pressure that the NHS faces.

Tizliz I rarely engage in meaningful conversations with anyone other than MacSporran (and sometimes Rory). Do you think that it is possible to lose the art of expressing one's feelings? News of the starving people in Syria has made me feel "unwell"...yet I'm unable to express the grief that I feel for them.

I wrote quite a screed early am and of course could not send it. Tried another post and similar. I do not know if the problem was my end or GNHQ. I know where my money lies.

soop I am so sorry to hear that you will be travelling miles again to get yourself sorted- could you at least not choose summertime?!

I will be brave and say that kitten will be indoors, maybe not 24/7 but poking around before September 2016. I know that MacSporran has a soft spot for her although I know where his real loyalties lie- his favourite four legged friend, Rory. I think that he will eventually allow her entry, how can he possibly refuse?

One of Tara's visitors left a deposit on my front door path- I have cleaned it up I only hope it dries and the area does not freeze.

Soop- I've been reading your kitchen news for some time, but haven't joined in until now. So sorry to hear about your current health problems, and hoping you have a good result from your tests. As others have said , you've been so stoic through it all.

I'm sorry to hear about your MIL too tizliz.

We have just had a very similar conversation with Mum's consultant and, although she is much better than when we went to hospital in a blue light flashing, siren blaring ambulance on NYE, they have suggested that the chest infection and sepsis may not have completely cleared up but she would be best kept 'comfortable' in the nursing home. Lots of GNs will be aware of my relationship with Mum but my brothers are not coping too well with the information so I'm having to be the one to cope for all of us.

Anyway, to lighten the mood a bit, I've brought in the remainder of my birthday cake which was made by my lovely friend who makes one every year. It's date and walnut with coffee icing and chocolate curls - it's very rich!

It is good to come here and chat. I work with OH and there is just the two of us, so some days I don't speak to anyone else. I am a moderator on a more specialised site but there is not really any chat there.

I am not lonely but sometimes feel that I have to fight for attention with the dogs! Not really fair at the moment as one of them is ill and the vet does not know what the problem is.

MIL is worse, the doctors have withdrawn and treatment and she is just being left to die (it is for the best). Hope that the funeral and my OH's operation don't clash. I will not be able to go because of the sick dog though I am sure OH would rather I go and he stay with the dog because he doesn't like flying. I think the best thing for him is a short flight down to Manchester and then the rest of the journey with our son.

Still the sun is shining today and the water has gone down round our house (no damage).

We have a frost here in Wiltshire, the car's iced up and I can't find the de-icer or scraper, oh bum.........?
