We've just had a card wishing us both a good Xmas, but whoever put it through our door omitted to say who they were!

The Soop Kitchen
(1001 Posts)soop gave me a key so her you are, folks, the new extension. Plate of crumbly oatcakes on the side there with the coffee and tea pots.
kitty There are far too many cases of people suffering with Alzheimers. We're all living a lot longer. I suppose that it is inevitable that dementia will rob countless people of their faculties. The very thought (of dementia) makes me wish for a sudden popping of my clogs. Only...not just yet.
A very good Sunday afternoon to all our Kitcheners.
kitty Escalators make me feel awfully uneasy. It's taking the first step that worries me most. I always sense that I'm about to trip.
The sore throat hasn't progressed beyond being a nuisance. Friends of ours are under the weather with something nasty. It's that time of year.
Alea I'm looking forward to a photo and hearing all about the big day.
Baubles Has baby made an entrance? I trust that you will stay free from bugs...also hope that mother-in-law is comfortable.

As for that Galen...she is a mover and shaker. She sets a bad good example to the us lot. Is it any wonder that she was blotto fast asleep throughout a force 10 gale.
Luckygirl Feet up. Hot toddy. Lots of pampering. We want you to recover ASAP
Just popped in to see how everyone is - what a lot of poorliness there is about, both in the kitchen and in RL.
baubles best wishes to both you and your MiL. It is hard going at the best of times doing hospital visits, especially at a distance, but when you are not feeling on top form it makes it harder. Any baby news yet?
Soop, there has been a sore throat doing the rounds here to - it's horrid and DH's turned into a flu-ey thing which he gave to me - so rest up!
I think falls worry lots of us as we get older don't they, even those of us with no 'complications' to worry about. 'Down escalators' (or downamalators as DS1 used to say) make me nervous nowadays for some reason, too!
I've missed news of Lona's rat - thankfully. They terrify me!
Hope you've seen the back of it - eeekkkk!!
Hope all went well yesterday, Alea - we need at least one photo, please.
I started a thread a while ago about a friend of DH from university having alzheimer's and, yesterday, we got a card from the wife of one of his friends from school, who seems in a really bad way too.
Glad you are having a good time galen - who needs lorezepam!
Everything has calmed down now. We're just off the straits of Gibraltar and the sun has appeared.
That was an interesting storm force 10, I slept like a baby last night. ( combination of 1/2 bottle of bubbly+captains cocktail party,+ Chianti with meal!
Thinking of all you lot!
Streaming cold on the go now - just in time for Christmas. But had a brilliant time at a Kate Rusby Christmas gig last night; and Mesiah the night before - in a lovely village church lit by newly renovated oil lamps.
Hope you are on the mend soop and that baubles' MIL is comfortable.
Hope all you poorly folk are better for Christmas, it`s no fun slaving over a hot stove when you`re not well.
Our Christmas card strings are ful up now, I TOLD him we needed 4, but as usual he knew best.
Has a nyone seen the Aldi Christmas food ad featuring a beautiful white cat? That cat is the dead spit of our Mia, I think she`s been moonlighting!
Hope they are making MIL comfortable baubles - she has done well to survive all that she has been through.
I too dread my hip replacement giving up soop - the surgery was a big problem for me and once was quite enough thank you! Get better soon!
Go, bags, go and have yourselves a jolly convivial.
baubles I'm sorry to hear that your mother-in-law has had such a tough time since her fall. It is the one thing that I dread... a bad fall that dislodges one or other of my hip replacements. Can be a lot worse than the original surgery.
Hello Luckygirl I wouldn't dream of spreading my gremlin. It's tiresome at the moment. I feel "all wrung out"...as my late Nana would say.
Oh dear baubles, how horrible for your poor mil! An hour and a half travelling to see her is very tiring for you as well if you don't feel too good! I hope she is comfortable and not in too much pain now.
No visit from the rat last night thank goodness, so I'm feeling a bit more relaxed today. Little dgd is staying over tonight
and tomorrow my DD is on a parcel swap mission, so she will be staying over tomorrow
.
Enjoy your socialising bags
Seconded about you taking care of that throat and chest, soop! Hope you are feeling a bit better today, baubles, and
for the MiL. I hooe she isn't in a lot of pain.
We are off out shortly to be convivial with some neighbours. Horrible weather so I'll go in my wellies and take something more suitable to wear indoors.
Take care of that throat soop you'll not want to lose your voice.
The hospital is a 45 minute drive from us so it's a fair chunk out of the day or evening. We visit 4 days per week. She had a hip replaced many years ago then in August had a fall and had a pin put into that hip. She didn't recover well from that and was in pain for weeks afterwards. It transpired that the bone holding the pin had disintegrated and the pin was scraping against the socket.
She had to have the hip replaced once more but was very ill following surgery, the family were called to her bedside but she has surprised everyone by pulling through. Unfortunately she isn't doing too well so it's unlikely that she'll be home soon. She's a poor soul at the moment.
Sorry to hear about widespread ailments on GNet - please don't send them over the ether! - and get well soon everyone. It is these germy GC who are the culprits.
Alea I'm excited for you. The floral decorations will look perfect. Us lot are looking forward to seeing some photographs. I hope that the day is extra special in every way for all your family and friends.
Baubles I'm sorry that I forgot to mention your poorly mother-in-law. Is the hospital within easy reach? Do you think that she may be home for the festive season?
I did enjoy a wee dram last night. It certainly helped. Throat still sore and upper chest feels tight again today. Hey ho! As our bags would say.
soop, I hope you're taking something for that sore throat, have you maybe caught it from the ladies at the care home? You need a 'whiskyMac'!
Have a super weekend Alea, looking forward to seeing the photos!
Galen Stormy seas on a sea going vessel. I am going green at the very thought of it. Have a lovely time though.
Oh dear baubles, how miserable, I do hope you'll be feeling better very soon and that MIL gets better too. How exciting to have a baby due!
Galen
with knobs on. The sea and me are definitely incompatible. I'd need all that bubbly to knock myself out until it's all over I'm afraid it would be completely wasted I'm afraid
soop drown the bug with medicinal wee drams, now and at regularly toppings up. I do hope it buggers off pdq, along with the incessant rain
Sitting be on the bed(!) in our hotel, watching the news and relaxing, here at last! We stopped off at DD3's for a cuppa, ironed a couple of tablecloths (!) and they went off to help DD2 and SIL2B to decorate the venue with some lovely arrays of red winter berries, eucalyptus, thistles, ivy,, other greenery etc. in huge glass vases and big Kilner jars! We are leaving our car outside theirs as the hotel has no parking of its own and we got a taxi round. I suspect we will just eat here and have an early night rather than face the crowds on a Friday evening, especially just before Christmas. Am I excited???

baubles I've been wondering where you've been. I am so sorry to hear that you are feeling unwell. So much going on and an exciting event about to happen in your life. My thoughts are with you. Please let us know when baby arrives.
Galen Wow! The Champagne will be awfully bubbly. Sit tight in your cabin and think of Madeira. Alternatively, hold on to the most dishy member of the crew...but please, don't get stuck in the lift.
Lona Yikes! Meese are one thing...rats another. This warm weather doesn't help. It seems to sap the energy from me. Dressed the tree and I was sweating (profusely)...also have a very sore throat. Some bug or other has been lurking for about a fortnight.
Hope you feel better soon baubles, you've got enough on your plate without feeling ill!
This wet, murky weather is horrible! I've been in and out all afternoon trying to put chicken wire over my central heating vent to keep the b***dy rat out! I'm now damp and ratty! Haha, see what I did there?
Couldn't finish it on my own, so have loaded up four traps with chocolate goo ready to get the bu**er!
Hey ho, as bags would say!
Oh gosh - take a sick bag!!!
Severe weather forecast from midnight tonight with 15 metre waves, until we reach Madeira on Monday. Should be fun
Hello kitcheners.
soop I'm with you in thinking that time is flying by just now. I've lost this week as I've a horrible hacking cough and today I'm as weak as the proverbial kitten.
It isn't a good time to be ill as quite apart from christmas needing to be organised my MIL has been in hospital for almost three weeks now and my DD's due date was yesterday.
I've just caught up with the thread and I'm shocked to hear about Harrigran, my thoughts are with her.
Hope the wedding is fab Alea & have a great cruise Galen.
