soop gave me a key so her you are, folks, the new extension. Plate of crumbly oatcakes on the side there with the coffee and tea pots.

soop Mon 08-Feb-16 15:33:16

Nice friendly sigh.......Gaga A melody of Scottish favourites is the perfect way for us lot to relax. As for the freshly baked scones hmm I shall pass them around. There will be Big Trouble if there isn't one remaining on the plate. I have a craving for something utterly decadent at the moment.

Bella I start off a job in the strictest of tidy methods. Part way through, stuff gets unruly. Not me...stuff. Just put your feet up and have a blether with the rest of us.

The portrait (number two) was promising for a wee while. I stood back and thought...hmm the proportion of the back isn't quite right. Well, as you know, water colour paint is unforgiving. If I try to correct matters, I shall regret it.

I shall therefore treat the exercise as a valuable lesson learned. After brew I shall begin again.

Budge up, Badenkate, is there room for a little 'un? I'm sneaking coming in to do a bit of procrastinating. I excel at it blush

Clearing the house in order to move by end of March has got me all of a dither. I have no method in my packing and seem to have a mess everywhere as I go from room to room starting jobs then wafting on to another.

I have just scoffed half my body weight in Lidl's chocolate covered fig gingerbread left over from Christmas (no DH to help out this year). There are still some left if anyone wants. They are delicious and very moreish.

Grace please tell your mother that she really ought not to let anyone upset her like this. It's all a storm in a teacup and not worth fretting over, and certainly no reason to leave GN. We would miss her so give her a big lick from us and ask her to reconsider flowers

I'm having a brew. Can I get one for anybody else?

Thanks for the cosy kitchen, soop. It is indeed a lot more peaceful in here than surrounded by boxes in my poor house so I shall sit and procrastinate for a wee bit longer if I may grin

Badenkate Mon 08-Feb-16 14:50:33

Hello everyone, I'm feeling exhausted after setting up a home computer network with the several computers lying around the house that never seem to have things I want on just one specific one. I'm not sure that it's going to work, but just can't be bothered to find out at the moment.
If you don't mind, I'm going to bring my cross-stitch with me and sit by the fire (move over a bit Gagagran) and maybe have just one (or two) scones - jam first and then cream of course! I do like a bit of butter on them as well if there's any around....

Lona Mon 08-Feb-16 14:36:58

Grace for goodness sake will you drag your owner servant back into the kitchen! We don't like our kitcheners being upset. wine brew cupcake and flowers in fact even roastchicken if she would like a sandwich!

Crafting Mon 08-Feb-16 13:50:54

Nice to hear from you Grace. Please let mum out of the dog house so she can come and join us in the kitchen. Kitty has brought in come lovely cake and we can all sit and have some together while we wait for Soop to show us her latest portrait when she has finished. Hope your tail (the half you still have ) is better. No point in sending you flowers and you're probably not up to chasing a ball yet ? would mum let you have a ? just this once? ?

Gagagran Mon 08-Feb-16 13:49:48

Hello soop and all our lovely kitcheners and especially Grace (aka Alea).

It is a while since I have popped in but I have been keeping a low profile after a bit of a time of it on a political thread. When will I learn to keep out of them? However, this is a refuge and a safe place for all of us and I shall read the other threads but keep my views to myself from now on!

I have brought a plateful of freshly made scones, some strawberry jam and some clotted cream for anyone needing a little sweet something. Help yourselves all. Meanwhile I am hoping for soop's permission to sit a play a few Scottish airs on her piano.

soop Mon 08-Feb-16 13:32:24

Alea Ta Dah! You and Grace have made my our day. Phew! Now I shall return to the portrait. flowers

TizlizCount your blessings. The wash will wait. Feet up and chill...smile

Alea Mon 08-Feb-16 13:03:18

Grace here.
Mum is taking up too much room in the doghouse (mine) and I have told her it's her or the buster collar.
Anyway she thought I might like to share a cautionary tale with you (not tail, I only have half a one of those)
There are quite a lot of dogs in our village and we see them when we are out for walks. Mostly we do not bother each other, some are friendlier than others.
But there is one collie called Gizmo who is always off his lead, he rushes around, barks a lot and TBH he and I simply do not get on. So if Mum spots him, even in the distance, she just turns me round and we go off the other way. That way there is no aggravation and we don't disturb the rest of our friendly peaceable community.

I think humans at this point say "Here endeth the lesson"???
Mum sends her love and thanks for knd pats on the head.

Tizliz Mon 08-Feb-16 12:48:04

soop hope the portrait does not cause too many problems, art is supposed to be relaxing. Wish I could paint I need a stress relief after booking a washing machine engineer. I thought the idea of having a repair contract was that it took the strain out of it. But it took 30 mins. And, as usual, have to wait 4 days because of our remote location. Never mind, less ironing smile

soop Mon 08-Feb-16 12:37:02

I'm about to have a second session with a fresh portrait of a beautiful German Shepherd dog. The first attempt has been discarded. Wish me well...

soop Mon 08-Feb-16 12:34:41

Jalima Peace has been restored. No more fretting. I could eat a huge slab of carrot cake right this minute. smile

Alea Where you be? The view from the window is beautiful. The tops of the wee waves are sparkling in much-needed sunlight. smile

Jalima Mon 08-Feb-16 12:25:52

A calm sea soop?

It's blowing a hoolie up the Bristol Channel with lashings of rain to go with it.
I need somewhere safe and warm with brew and carrot cake please, hope I didn't unwittingly add to any angst on another thread.
I'll just sit in the corner, knit and be quiet because my mouth is too full to talk.

soop Mon 08-Feb-16 12:19:59

Staggers into the kitchen needing a large G&T. Bloody hells bells...what a silly nonsensical kafuffle on the thread that has caused so much upset.

Somewhere along the line, stuff was said. Stuff that may have been misunderstood. Stuff that has caused folk to ruffle their feathers. We're all "grown up" hmm so, for pity's sake, let's make up and have a group hug.

The world is full of misery makers. We Gransnetters should do our bit to support each other.

If I had a bottle of bubbly, I'd pop the cork and we would all get bubbles up our noses. grin

soop Mon 08-Feb-16 12:05:24

Thank you, kitty x

kittylester Mon 08-Feb-16 12:03:29

I agree, Alea, don't go. flowers I'm afraid that I was the unwitting catalyst for the ill feeling and I will feel awful if either of the people who fell out should leave.

We had a cake sale at the library on Saturday which did really well. I bought a gf mixed fruit carrot cake which is delicious but should not be scoffed eaten in a lady like fashion by me so please help me out all you kitcheners.

soop Mon 08-Feb-16 12:03:11

Alea I'm about to look at the thread that you mention. I rarely leave the kitchen. Have I been missing something? confused

soop Mon 08-Feb-16 12:00:36

Crafting Oh my goodness...can you imagine Galen's expression if Gary turned up in that outfit? The brown slippers would spoil the effect. wink

soop Mon 08-Feb-16 11:58:42

Charleygirl...and yes, what would we do without news updates of that beautiful Grace?

soop Mon 08-Feb-16 11:57:13

Alea Us lot do not tolerate bullies in our kitchen. There is sufficient room on all the forums for that sort of silly behaviour. As far as I know, we've not had a falling out in all the time the Kitcheners have been popping in for a chat. That's the way we intend to stay. I've made a brew I've plumped the cushion on the best chair with a view of the sea (calm today) and I shall be extremely sad if you do not join me. So there. smile

Charleygirl Sun 07-Feb-16 22:05:13

Alea please do not go, how are we going to keep up to date to Grace?

Crafting Sun 07-Feb-16 21:53:14

Have you seen that man on Facebook wearing a skimpy thong-thing (and fairy wings) for added effect?

Soop surely you are not suggesting that Galen should get her Gary to wear a skimpy thong thing on Friday nights too are you shock shock

Crafting Sun 07-Feb-16 21:43:49

Oh Alea don't go. You know you'll be safe in the kitchen. No bullying here. Why don't you sit there in the corner and I will bring you a brew and a cupcake and a ((hug))

Alea Sun 07-Feb-16 20:33:04

Hi Kitcheners.
If you look at kittylester's "Idiot" thread, you will perhaps see why it is time for me to say "Goodbye and thanks for the fish."
I do not encounter attacks such as today's from granjura in RL , fortunately, and being a genuine sort of soul, find them hurtful. So I have decided I will not expose myself to that sort of thing anymore.
Actually very sad ??? but life is too short for her sort of bullying. So I may look in as a visitor from time to time, but Alea will no longer be with you.
Keep safe, keep well.
xxxx

soop I got the impression that it is really needed because the fellow is trying to furnish a flat or bedsit he is moving into next week on freebies or hand me downs. He is 50++ I would think, extremely deaf and partially sighted. Definitely not somebody who would try to sell it on Gumtree.

I will keep quiet at least until Friday about my sofa and will let the world know if it is picked up.

soop Sun 07-Feb-16 17:24:05

Charleyg I shall join you in a wine when the punters collect the sofa. I trust that it is going to a good home.

Jalima The number of wonderful objects rescued from skips deserve a mention. I know of folk who have had amazing "finds". I haven't been so lucky in that respect. When our furniture and all the possessions finally came up from Cornwall to Kintyre, we had barely sufficient space to move around it or store it, as we were still finishing off our newly built home. One of the builders had a wife who was hooked on excellent with ebay. We gave her masses of things ranging from old stone hot water bottles to china tea sets and rugs. She was thrilled to bits, and in fact gave much away to help her daughter furnish her first flat.
Parker Knoll chairs never go out of fashion. Sad that you parted with yours. Sometimes needs must.

The wind has abated and all is quietish on the shore. The cats need feeding. I still haven't picked up or read the Sunday paper. When I do, I shall enjoy a small G&T.

Time for me to log off. By the way, the first attempt at the water colour portrait of a beautiful German Shepherd dog, failed to please (me). I shall embark on a second attempt tomorrow.

Stay safe. Keep warm. I shall return in the morrow. moon
