soop gave me a key so her you are, folks, the new extension. Plate of crumbly oatcakes on the side there with the coffee and tea pots.

I have a pair of size 12 men's slippers in my hall! They're actually for Gary when he comes into the house so that he doesn't upset Kate ( my cleaner, his wife) by trampling garden into the house!

Jalima Sat 06-Feb-16 17:22:27

Two plasterers later, painter back again next week, carpet to be ordered and all before the suite comes in 4 weeks' time. Curtains are ready although I still like the old ones so they may go somewhere else.
Then DD said she likes the old suite, it is very comfortable! hmm

Charleygirl Sat 06-Feb-16 17:12:56

Jalima not everybody appreciates our exquisite taste in furniture. I have curtains to match but I cannot give them away with the sofa because I have nothing as yet to replace them.

Hopefully yours will go soon. Have you ordered anything yet? My new 3 piece suite is coming around the end of April. I have 2 chairs to get rid of but I need something comfortable to sit on for the next 2-3 months.

I have to sort out a plasterer asap- this house owning lark is never ending.

Sorry everybody but I loathe rugby- do not have a clue re the game but I do hope that Scotland wins.

soop Sat 06-Feb-16 16:57:45

Charleyg grin Clever thinking.

Welcome Jalima I approve of your ploy. Large shoes, hat and a very large stick.

Enjoy your Saturday evening, Kitcheners all.
I'm away to watch the Rugby match between Scotland and England. Come on, SCOTLAND! Rory knows that he should hide away for a while. He doesn't like loud noises. wink moon

Jalima Sat 06-Feb-16 15:40:59

Charleygirl DD assures me that pink is very fashionable again now, which is odd because we are getting rid of a pink three piece suite in vgc and no takers so far!
Someone once told me to keep a pair of very large men's shoes in the hall, or handy to put by the front door in case anyone unexpected called.

Charleygirl Sat 06-Feb-16 15:09:26

soop in the past I have mentioned a now non existent husband who had popped out to the shops and my non existent son in the local police force. This is when I have been asked specifically where people are. I am fortunate, I can lie while standing on my feet!

Charleygirl Sat 06-Feb-16 15:06:23

The font size for GN was around 3 but only GN so I re- registered, end of problem? Weird.

soop Sat 06-Feb-16 15:02:57

Charleygirl You were right to dissuade two unknown men into your home. I most certainly would not entertain the idea. As for the fussy one's comments...I bet that you wanted to pummel him with a feather cushion. Aren't some folk a pain in the nether regions!
I'm glad that you've managed to get the tech problem sorted. Isn't it a pain when one logs on only to find that the system is playing silly b's? I've also experienced similar hitches when trying to log on to Facebook. At the moment everything seems in full working order.

Charleygirl Sat 06-Feb-16 15:00:53

Oh I do love them- it will turn out perfect as always.

soop Sat 06-Feb-16 14:55:18

I am about to sketch a beautiful German Shepherd dog. Wish me luck...wink

Charleygirl Sat 06-Feb-16 14:55:00

soop it is not a lot better here in London. Sorry I have not replied sooner but I have had tech problems off and on and surprisingly managed to sort it out myself by rejoining GN. A cheap price to pay.

thanks so much for the info re ebay. I will register but not at present.

I have been trying to get rid of a 2 seater sofa through the local Freecycle and one fellow rang me yesterday evening wanting to come around with his male friend to view it. This was at 7.30pm, my house needed to be tidied, I had not cooked my supper and I wanted to watch TV- apart from the minor fact I would not have 2 strange men in my house late evening for obvious (to me) reasons. He was surprised when I said no. He did not know my living arrangements and I had no intention of telling him. One has to be careful.

They came this am and the fellow looking at it was so fussy- complaining that it was pink and not a bed settee. This had been explained in the email. I am so desperate for it to go that I have agreed to keep it here until Friday.

The fellow wanted to think about it but I said that 2 other people were interested so that concentrated his mind. What a performance- it is in excellent condition, hardly used and is comfortable.

Alea I feel so sorry for Grace because her wound will be healing and feeling very itchy- luckily you noticed the minx having a lick with her not so clean tongue.

soop Sat 06-Feb-16 13:02:22

Another dreich day in bonnie Kintyre. Good afternoon to our Kitcheners.

Crafting I know what you mean. So far this winter, we have escaped catching the dreaded lurgies that pop up and make a nuisance of themselves. Our pals in the village have been suffering from on going miserable maladies of one sort or another.

Alea Grace may believe that the gentle licks she administers to the stiches help the healing process. She's been through a rough time.
The wind is picking up again. Our pal's Saltire continues to fly. You have all the necessary amusements ready for the visit of your grandchildren. Our young grandson loved watching Mr Fox. Well done for having it as a crafty standby.
I'm sorry to hear that your husband has to have another transfusion. Will he not be home in time for the Scotland v England match at Murrayfield? Perhaps you could record it for him.

Alea Fri 05-Feb-16 23:31:10

Very true re the lampshade, charleygirl, I turned my back for a minute today after Grace had come in from the garden (always take her buster collar off for toilet visits so that she can have a bit of a sniff) and blow me! She was trying to lick her stitches!! Bad dog!
Looks like another stormy weekend for some of us. We have the DGC for the day and as the weather forecast is dire I have stocked up on big colouring sheets, crayons and felt tips and a sneaky DVD of Fantastc Mr Fox. Hope that sees us through as DH won't be up to much having spent 6 hours at our hospital Planned Care Unit getting another 2 units of blood sad
Certainly not likely to see any of the rugby!!

Crafting Fri 05-Feb-16 22:45:56

soop I know what you mean about catching bugs. Whenever we have something reasonably big happening soon like a wedding or a holiday, I always seem to find myself sitting near someone who is coughing violently or sneezing a lot. It is much more important for MacSporran to keep well. Perhaps a medicinal wee dram might be in order smile

soop Fri 05-Feb-16 17:06:03

Tizliz Very droll. grin It remains a very grey day in Kintyre. Water, water everywhere...

Charleyg I logged on my ebay page and it appears that you will need to REGISTER in 'three easy steps'. It's been an age (several years) since someone took me through the process. Be sure that you log on to eBay UK first. I am not happy to advise you over the internet. As I'm sure you already know that you need to be certain in the knowledge that your details will remain secure. Do you have a trustworthy pal who can get you started? I have NEVER had any problems either as a buyer or seller. In fact, all my purchases have been trouble free and the members that I've dealt with have been totally trustworthy. The site has very strict rules. I always use Paypal...again, a very trustworthy way to deal with payments.

Tizliz Fri 05-Feb-16 16:50:12

soop are the sentences about 'insect eating' and MacSporran catching a bug related tcrgrin. Raising money gets very difficult especially in a small community where you seem to be asking the same people all the time.

A dreich day here as well, also was warmer last night than it is today. The dogs' walk was very brisk. The TNT driver spent 10 mins warming her backside on my heater!

soop Fri 05-Feb-16 14:58:05

Boy oh boy...'tis a dreich day. Have popped in for a brew and a catch up with you lovely lot.

Have been to the care home. Betty, one of the carers, ate a plate full of dried insects on Australia Day and helped to raise over £500 for the care home entertainment fund. Gulp!
There was an awful lot of coughing and spluttering going on in the lounge. I could see MacSporran flinch. He really does not need to catch a nasty bug.

Charleyg I'm about to take a look at my eBay site. I shall hopefully be able to give you a few pointers. Once you are signed in as a member, it will open up all manner of avenues for you to explore. It's a pity that I cannot sit beside you and take you through the process step by step.

Charleygirl Thu 04-Feb-16 21:47:04

soop- please, you have much more important things to do than bother about me and my stupidity.

numberplease Mia sounds like Tara, very nosy and also into a workman's tool bag the minute he comes into the house. If she decides she does not like the fellow (no apparent reason) she then gives him a wide berth.

Alea I am pleased to hear that Grace is now "signed off" from the vet's. Your wallet will be sighing with sheer relief that it is having a holiday. She must be fairly used to the lampshade around her neck now, she always looks so comfortable when lying down sleeping. You will not be able to trust her for some considerable time because she will want to lick her healing wounds.

soop Thu 04-Feb-16 18:22:33

number grin

Alea Good news at last regarding Grace and her poorly tail. Phew! It has been a roller coaster ride since the day of her accident. Bless her. Lots of petting still required.

Charley When I return from Campbeltown tomorrow I shall try to give you step-by-step helpful instructions. hmm Once you are a member it will be plain sailing. I shall do my best for you.

Tizliz Good! I am looking forward to the challenge.

Time for me to log off. The usual "stuff" to attend to. However, I shall be back in our kitchen early tomorrow afternoon.

Be kind to each other. moon

numberplease Thu 04-Feb-16 18:06:49

Love the new mirror and cushion Soop! I was very surprised to see that the Tayinloan to Gigha ferry was still sailing the other day, the sea looked awfully choppy, to put it mildly!
Pleased to hear the good news regarding Grace`s tail, it`s been more a saga than a tale, so really glad she`s getting better.
Thinking of Rory and the feather duster, I need to find out what Mia doesn`t like, because she investigates every single different thing that comes into the house, even workmens tools! When I used to have a hairdresser come to the house, she`d have her nose in the lady`s bag within a few seconds of her arrival!

Charleygirl Thu 04-Feb-16 17:37:45

soop I agree, I could cat sit in exchange for help on ebay. Do I have to sign up first? I really do not have a clue.

Tara appears to have given up scratching the side of the chairs but I obviously have no idea how she will approach the new furniture as for her, it will appear rougher so more cat friendly!

Alea Thu 04-Feb-16 17:17:09

Yes Tizliz although the fur is beginning to grow back she will never have the luxuriant (?) furry tail she had before.
And "yes" I too went to look at a particular thread after being out for most of the day and thought the sea between Kintyre and Gigha must be mill pond calm compared to some tempers on that thread!! grin

Tizliz Thu 04-Feb-16 17:11:40

Only came on here for a quick look and unfortunately looked at 'thoughtful posting' first. Came over here quickly for a cool down.

soop yes, I haven't forgotten - I had to do the vat this week wine that is what I needed afterwards. I will do as you request asap. thanks again.

Alea so pleased that Grace is getting better, she will be pleased just to not have so many vet visits - strange how they can tell where they are going. Does she look like a chicken where she has been shaved? Horrible.

Alea Thu 04-Feb-16 16:52:50

Grace is very happy to report she has been *signed off*smilesmile
I have to keep an eye on the tail stitches and the damage to her back legs (where she licked and worried until they bled, presumably because she couldn't reach the precise itch on her tail) but unless there is a problem they don't need to see her again!!
Still in the tasteful lampshade until the stitches have dissolved and the fur regrows, but other than that "frabjous day, calloo, callay "

soop Thu 04-Feb-16 16:35:42

Alea What news of Grace? We all wish to be updated please.
