Disclaimer: I'm no longer a dentist
and I should point out that my last-thing-at-night teeth cleaning is my really thorough one, ie at least two minutes with my electric toothbrush followed by tepe brushes and floss. So in theory, there are very few bacteria there for any sugars to work on.
I don't add any sugar to my ovaltine and I've worked out that a heaped teaspoonful of the ovaltine powder has about 7grams of sugar in it. Which isn't that bad in the scheme of things.
I don't have ovaltine every night - only if we have eaten earlier than usual and I feel a bit hungry, or I can't get to sleep and all else has failed

I have it quite weak and don't add any sugar. In theory the milk has a protective effect and if you clean your teeth beforehand that should be ok.
