Christmas crackers that are safe for young children

I wanted to contribute some crackers to the festive table at my DD's but they all say they are not suitable for under 3s - anyone ever found any that are?

They all say that just to cover themselves, I think it's more to do with the 'small parts' contained in the crackers rather than the stuff that makes the 'bang'.

As long as the children have adult supervision, any crackers would be fine but there are some smaller ones specifically for youngsters.

I thought I saw some childrens crackers in Tesco this morning some were from the film 'Frozen' and there were others too.

I was also amazed when at the self scan checkout we had to get our box of crackers authorized , apparently they can't be sold to under 18's..

I've got those for my DGDs tanith, but they've still got the 'not suitable for children under the age of 3' warning on the back!

Actually i have just managed to find some on Amazon (sorry chaps!). They have racing games, wooden puzzles or a consequences game (for the adults maybe!) - fingers crossed that they are a hit!

Seems a bit mad to have crackers for kids that aren't suitable how silly. I just looked at my crackers and the age limit is actually 12 not 18 even though the assistant said 18 to us today.

Don't you have to be 18 to buy them though? Something about 'explosives'...hmm

The presence of the explosives is what dictates who they can be sold to; it's the stuff inside that I am concerned about. When there are a mixed bunch of children of different ages, the tiny bits are a problem. It seems a shame that they do not make ones that might be more suitable for little ones.

It's maybe too late for this year, but Baker Ross do a kit of 6 for around £3. They come with snaps but you can leave them out-it also means you can put your own little gift in them. If you're careful you can shake gift out of an ordinary cracker and replace it with something more suitable.,
