that brings a beautiful picture in my mind of how warm and cared about he must feel.....the world is a richer place for having you in it GA ,I havent forgotten our PM a few months ago.
I have seen the hardship of people sleeping in doorways and homeless,I volnteered for a charity locally called "The peoples picnic" last year donating and providing a hot meal for the homeless in Norwich,I was volunteering for age uk at the times and managed to get donations of clothing/sleeping bags etc from them,it was humbling how grateful people where xxx[GA] for continuing to spread happiness flowers

What a truly good thing you did ga. I'm picturing him waking up this morning, looking around and breaking out in a huge smile when he realises it wasn't all just a dream. Well done you smile

Well done, no one deserves to be homeless. I bet he couldn't believe it when you had left him in his little flat. I bet he hasn't stopped grinning yet. flowers for you grannyactivist

I thank my lucky stars every day that I am lucky enough to live in a beautiful social housing home. It keeps me safe, warm and comfortable, along with my DS. I am a very lucky person. smile

That is wonderful. How lovely for you to feel that you have made a tangible difference to this man's life. We take so much for granted when we have settled lives.

grannyactivist, that is a real achievement. A friend has been trying to work with a homeless man in her village, but with little success. He shys away from any contact with any kind of authority and even refuses her offers of food and clothing.

For several months my colleague and I have been working with a man who has been a rough sleeper for a very long time. Earlier today we were able to move him into a little flat and he will be sleeping in a bed tonight, out of the cold and wet. He actually didn't let himself believe that he was being housed until the moment he saw the flat today - and although it looked tiny and smelly and none too clean to me, to him it was a palace. It was a very emotional moment for all three of us. It was such a cold and wet weekend I was actually worried the poor man might not survive it, but tonight I'll sleep easier in my bed knowing that he too will also be sleeping in one and not on a bench or under a tree. smile

Working with homeless people in a voluntary capacity might not be a glamorous job, but the amount of satisfaction we felt today is truly priceless.
