NanaandGrampy, what a very pretty cat Toby was.
We were at the vets last Friday with Mia, for her vaccination. She was done before we got her, but with all the illnesses and hospital visits and stays, we never got around to having her booster done, so she`s started again from scratch. Our youngest son when he visits keeps saying how small and thin she is, we think she looks normal, anyway, the vet says she`s a bit overweight, so our son is wrong. The vet also says that Mia has a slight heart murmur, but not to worry unless she has trouble breathing, just to have her checked every 6 months.

You're making me nostalgic for all the lovely cats I've had. None now, because they wouldn't be safe with all the traffic that passes my door which may explain why I see so few cats around here.

Imperfect We also adopted a rescue cat from the RSPCA. That was before we moved from Cornwall to Scotland. We named him Hamish. He was not at all pretty when rescued. In fact he had been put into a dustbin. Cruelty of that nature makes me as mad as hell. He thrived and as he grew stronger he became extremely handsome. He died (put to sleep) when he contracted Feline AIDs from a cat that had attacked and wounded him. I often think of Hamish. Even now I'm tearful when I remember having to make the decision to "let him go..."
What is IRL? Is it something that us lot would consider to be delicious? If so, make a batch for us PLEASE.

NanaandGrampy We shall watch 'Murder in Paradise'...it isn't too grisly and the characters are decent enough.

I must find out whether or not the care home is open to visitors. We usually visit our pal on Fridays. Hopefully the virus has been obliterated.

Now I must log off. The cats are ready for their early supper. Also, I still have a large basket of laundry to iron.

Nana, I'm so sorry, I didn't realise Toby had passed.

wot Toby had a lovely nature and was often to be found wearing hats or dollies clothes . Me who are good to animals may be grumpy but are kind underneath don't you think.

I am sorry to hear Rory has a jealous streak soop please tell him we think he's a very handsome lad :-)

Himself is off to watch Spurs tonight so I have a free night which I am so looking forward to , I have planned a favourite dinner and then Sam and I will be watching whatever train wreck TV we can find and eating malteasers ( or small geezers as they are known ) .... Small pleasures

Nana/grampy. your cat is so sweet. My other lurcher who passed on used to like wearing a hat but Sophie, my current one won't entertain that idea! My so called partner is a grumpy, solitary old g.t but he,s so nice to any animals we've had.

Soop Lily was rescued by the RSPCA and neutered when we got her. She is a very pretty tabby - though her beauty wasn't so evident then - shw was so scrawny she couldn't even hold her tail up. She had been named tiger so first we thought of Tiger Lily - and then Lily Savage!!!
She is about three now.

I caved in and am actually baking IRL as it goes....
We live next door to a butchers who think of me as the 'cake lady' and give me free eggs - maybe just to keep the next batch coming ha ha. When we moved here we were very worried Lily would find her way in and pilfer from the counters, but so far so good ...

Awwww! Toby had bags of personality. Such a pretty boy. I love the hat. Rory would not wish me to show him the photo. He gets jealous if we as much as admire another feline.

Somehow MacS and Rory seem suited don't you think soop.

What a fabulous story soop and what a lucky chap Rory is to have such a home.

Ive never been what I would describe as a cat person but due to circumstances we inherited our daughters ragdoll cat Toby. Not only was he beautiful ( I will attach a photo) but in typical ragdoll fashion beautifully tempered and a very people orientated cat. Almost a little dog like.

BUT thick as mince as my Gran used to say. He was a house cat , and until he came to us had never been outside. The world was a mystery to him and I swear every living creature used to know it. The squirrels in the garden were adept at diverting his attention , he could sit at the base of a tree staring up into the branches for hours , whilst they waltzed across the lawn behind him to dig up the flower pots.

He's scattered under the huge tree at the bottom of our garden - hopefully getting his own back on those pesky squirrels in cat heaven :-)

wot Rory is an amazing cat. How he managed to regularly walk three plus miles along the verge on the main road between here and the village, and not get killed by traffic, is remarkable. Now he rarely moves outside the door. He will only ever go into the garden with MacSporran...his days of nomadic existence are long gone.

Imperfect27 It is important to attempt to have a feral cat neutered. The poor she cats must be kitten bearing throughout their lives. It's tough on their health. Rory only ever sits on MacS's lap. They are inseparable. At first, MacS would say..."he's not coming in..." Now, he says..."he's not going out without me..." Makes sense, don't you agree?

Good afternoon everyone. I love Rory's story. Our little cat, Lily, was semi-feral - rescued from a traveller site, but not owned by anyone, pregnant whilst still a kitten herself really and her back is slightly bowed from the weight bearing. She used to scratch our hands in a fury to get any treats we offered her and she is much happier out catching birds and rabbits (some even bigger than she is) than sitting on anyone's lap. We love her dearly!

Any cakes going today - I need a zero calorie one .

The story of Rory is wonderful! Now I know who,s who! He looks a lovely boy!

A cheery hello to all our Kitcheners...I trust that everyone is keeping warm. We went for our daily stroll and it was bracing. Returned home with cherry-pink cheeks.

NanaandGrampy Rory was feral. He lived in a commune of cats and was often seen taking long walks between here and the village. No-one dare approach him. He was fierce. He walked into our garden one snowy day about four years ago. He was accompanied by a female cat. We started to leave food for them. In the late spring of that year, they were accompanied by two kittens. Eventually we contacted the Cat Protection League in Campbeltown. A nice man suggested that we should trap the entire family...it was sensible to have them neutered. We were loaned traps. It was a hair-raising time, waiting for the family to visit. Anyway, the mother cat and kits obliged by walking into the humane traps. We then ferried them to the vet. They were spayed and eventually returned to our garden. Off they darted, back into the forest. The male (Rory) refused to enter the trap. Some time went by and he gradually (long story) inched his way into our home. One evening he was attacked by another creature in the forest that borders our fence. He ran home to us...soaking wet (he'd been dragged into the burn) and badly injured. We had to get the vet to call here in order to trap him. After a nightmare skirmish, he was taken away for costly repair to his leg, ear and "manhood". He's lived with us ever since. He's devoted to MacSporran...his daughter still visits daily for food, and she sits with him in our utility room during the evening. We have a little lodge (kennel) for her to sleep in whenever she chooses. She will not allow us to get too near to her. She remains 100% feral. Mother cat turns up on rare occasions. The other daughter cat was a frequent visitor, but hasn't been seen for some time. Phew! I'm supposed to be doing "stuff"...it's just that Rory's story is legendry.

Charleyg Rory is a cat of many moods. At the moment he's asleep on top of a cardboard box that is close to my feet. As soon as MacS has finished his lunch, Rory will saunter off in readiness for the nap that they share in the reclining chair.

oldgoat I'm addicted to skies. I am a lover of cloud formations. Hence the multitude of images that find their way on-line.

About half an hour ago I took a photo of the snow falling over the islands. MacSporran went outside shortly after, and took a further two stunning images. Also, for our newcomers...a photo of the boss...Rory, the ruler of the homestead.

Soop, that report about the spaniel and her puppies upset me as well, especially as it was in our area. The vet said that the puppies wre possibly still alive when dumped, the poor mother must have been nearly out of her mind trying to get at them inside that carrier bag. I just hope tht they find the evil so and so`s who dumped them.
