Soop's kitchen extension

Beautiful robin. I haven't yet tried to upload any photos from my phone - upgraded it to have a good camera when DGS arrived and am using WhatsApp and visiting the photoshop fairly frequently to print pictures on their machines (both big techo developments for me!!!)

Thought Id share one of our morning visitors he's fond of a bit of toast himself

Good morning all. Today I can bring you some left over lentil soup and some rather crusty bread rolls for lunch (see bread thread ha ha!)

Freesias are a favourite here, but when my first - and only - GS was born recently, I bought his mum pink carnations in memory of my mum who bought them for me when my last daughter was born.

Here's to a good day from south to north even if the sun is hiding.

My DH brought me freesias when our first DS was born. I've always loved them, but the ones you get in supermarkets these days often don't have much scent

alea and Charley, the latest news from St A is that the University is adapting the old paper mill at Guardbridge for some purpose and the village is completely cut off, so there's a 7 mile detour on back roads to take traffic round to the Cupar - St A road. Sister went over from Dundee yesterday and said it was a bit of a nightmare.

How lovely to be able to grow freesias. My favourite flower.

Having had three attempts to post the freesias, I'm just grateful that they have appeared even if they are sideways on.

I didn't post a photo of the the freesias, here they are.
The pretty yellow flower is a Bermuda Buttercup, otherwise known as oxalis-pre-caprae. They are classed as a 'noxious weed' here but I like them.

Hmm soop , given macSporran's immune system, he should not be ignoring this cough. If there is the suspicion of a chest infection it needs seeing to.

Hello dustyangel Your photos are lovely too. I like the yellow flower in particular. Oh, I see that they are freesias...my absolute favourite flower. MacSporran presented me with a beautiful bunch of freesia on our very first date...
MacSporran continues to cough (heartily). I've told him that if his condition worsens, I shall frog-march him along to the surgery. Does he care? He will once I've had enough of putting up with his lame excuses.
It is a lovely end of afternoon here in Kintyre. I believe that the wind has changed direction. May not be quite as cold as it was the night before last. We had thick layers of ice over the puddles along our path. Rory stepped gingerly over the ice. He then scooted back indoors, shaking his legs in a comic fashion. You would never believe that he was such a tough guy before joining our family.

I'm about to log off. Ironing duties tomorrow morning. I shall pop in to catch up with our Granspal Kitcheners just as soon as I return.

I always love your photos soop. I sorry to hear that Macsporran isn't feeling too well, I hope these freesias I've brought in for the new kitchen cheer him. I'm sure you and Rory are making sure he stays in the warm.
What a difference a blue sky makes. Our weather which has been mild, grey and damp for weeks suddenly changed on Monday. All the wild flowers that have been green and leggy, suddenly opened including a very silly poppy that didnt anticipate the cold night that followed. Our weather forecaster even started blinking a frost alert which it hasn't ever done before.

A bonnie good afternoon to all our Kitcheners...watery sunshine and a tad blustery here in Kintyre.

I'm amazed and chuffed to see so many of you in the new kitchen extension. Imperfect27 ...We're only allowed 1000 messages, after which, a new thread (kitchen, in our case) has to be opened. I often wonder how many thousand chats we've shared since the first kitchen opened. As for sugar...I am partial to very dark chocolate.

MacSporran was told by the specialist to visit his GP if he was to succumb to a chest infection. Does he do as he's told? Nah! He claims to be coping and I, being diplomatic, agree for the time being. He has dozed all morning. Rory is in his element. A cosy lap on which to curl, is his idea of cat heaven.

Galen The treat that you will share with Bellasnana will do you both a power of good. Us lot will demand regular updates. Boy, oh boy, that boat will rock!!!

Alea my parents bought a house in Cupar after my dad retired, I cannot remember the date.. I never really lived there, popped in for weekends or holidays. Prior to that they lived at Stratheden which is 2 miles outside Cupar and about 2 miles from Springfield. It was in the middle of nowhere which is the reason I think why I prefer the bright lights of London.

soop I do hope that MacSporran is feeling better- he will have comfort from Rory.

I was just standing in the chemist thinking that I hadn't had to buy any cough mixture this winter. Keeping fingers crossed.

Hope MacSporran feels better soon. Can you leave him tucked up in bed and get on with your day or is he a demanding invalid?

It was my chest soop that was affected when I head that virus 4weeks ago and I felt grim so I can imagine how concerned you are. I never usually have a cough or any chest problems never having smoked ? and no underlying health problems, so for anyone who has I think it could be very nasty. Take good care of him and yourself.

Good morning all. I was a bit thrown the other day to make the 1,000th post on the old kitchen and then find it has closed! It seems lovely and lively here though ...

Had a thought earlier - probably something already discussed at length elsewhere, but as we have been reminded yet again today that sugar is apparently the great evil (sugar in high st coffees), I wondered if anyone else knows people, like me, who seem to thrive on sugar in abundance! And what is your sugar fix?

I LOVE dolly mixtures - every so often I buy 3 x 40p bags for £1and they soon go!!!

Tizliz, I`m in Boston, but my sparrowv photo was taken on Holy Island, or Lindisfarne, about 3 years ago. There were lots of sparrows there, but I can`t remember the last time we saw one around here. All we get, apart from the ducks on the river out front, are seagulls and pigeons, with an odd starling.
We had a flipping power cut today, it lased from just before 4.30pm until 7.40pm. Not a lot of fun making tea by candlelight!

The scarlet gowns were a liability on bikes! But yes, very useful as an extra blanket. I spent a year in 'digs' in a cold basement flat just 2 doors away from where Will and Kate lived!
