My first .........

I've just put my pjs back on having only got out of them at 9am this morning. I was up and working at 6 am but as I'm away from home there was no pressure to get dressed. I then went out this afternoon and got wet so decided I might as well be warm and comfy. Sometimes a break from the routine is as good as a holiday

7:43, stretch , yawn ... is that all? Time for another coffee I think ...

With all the GC and their families away somewhere for half-.term, I've had a duvet lie-in most mornings till about 8.30 even 9.00 am - it's a lovely relaxing experience, getting up, making a cup of tea and back to bed, to read, use GN, etc..

No dashing around on school runs - bliss!

As we can only really think clearly when fully rested.... A duvet day makes good sense.You can think philosophical thoughts, ponder on what needs redecorating in the house, what to plant in the garden etc.If there is somebody around to bring you a tray with a tasty lunch, even better!?

I had one of those days a few weeks ago - I got up, as normal, and then for some unaccountable reason decided there and then just to take my mug of tea and go back to bed! DH off walking someone else's dog (he won't have one of our own = too much expense, trouble etc.) Usually I'm ready waiting with a cup of coffee for him when he returns refreshed from his walk/good deed/fresh air/etc. but that morning I just went back to bed....... It was really liberating and after a few hours I got up and carried on as usual. I felt as if I had been on holiday.

I went to stay for a few days with good friends about ten years ago. I was so surprised when, at around 8 o'clock, the husband got into his pjs and dressing gown and spent the rest of the evening 'comfortable' . It seemed so odd to me, but is a habit I have adopted in the winter months especially - instant wind down zone and so much more comfy than day clothes. And yes, when else would I get to wear my luxurious dressing gown?!!

Good for you Grannyactivist, it's given you chance to get properly over your feeling ill.

I've spent as long as I can remember getting up early, never something that came naturally, but I always had animals to see to before school and then work. Since retiring, me from work and us from farming, I've enjoyed lying in on a morning, sometimes it's as late as 9am!

Good for you, I'm sure it's good for the soul to do this. Indulge oneself.

My New Year's Resolution was/is to get up and put my dressing gown on !! I love it, feels so debauched to potter about in smart dressing gown.

Brought up to get washed and dressed before coming downstairs, and that has stayed with me - habits die hard.

Since being widowed and alone I have kept to this ridiculous habit, till realising how unnecessary it is now. I think we must make time for ourselves, be comfortable.

Have a day in your onesie, stay in bed late, listen to the radio, read a book in bed - why not ! Enjoy it.

It's true though isn't it that days in bed are wasted on the ill? You feel too grim to enjoy the enforced leisure, time to read or peace and quiet!

So you weren't doing nothing really!

I like it when I've been ill and I'm feeling better but not totally well - it's when I can really relish it.

I'll have to think about a first though.
