Memorial to George Harrison

Poor old George. He always seemed like the downtrodden Beatle, not allowed to write songs much because Lennon and Macca always stole the limelight. Well, that's my impression! I read in the paper today that George finally rebelled against Paul's bullying (sorry, Paul, that's what it said) while they were recording Abbey Road. Later John and George came to blows but the paper didn't say what the fight was about.

He seems to have been the most spiritual and thoughtful Beatle. A few years ago his widow, Olivia, designed a lovely garden in his memory for the Chelsea Flower Show. I don't know whether it was recreated elsewhere, as some Chelsea gardens are, but it would have made a beautiful memorial to George Harrison.

I agree about not needing more memorials. Let George's musical legacy stand for him. He wasn't my favourite Beatle in their heyday (how shallow was I?) but after he died I read some biographies and he seemed a very interesting, determined and talented man in his own right. Nowadays I tend to listen to George and his friends before I listen to Lennon or McCartney so perhaps that says something about the quiet Beatle.

Any memorial to any of the Beatles should be in Liverpool!
I always liked George, he seemed kinder and gentler than the rest of them.

I know this thread is about George but I always thought Ringo was probably the happiest and most contented of the Beatles and I still think that - don't ask me why!

One factor might be that Ringo knows that drummers consider him to be a great drummer in spite of John's 'Best drummer in the world? Ringo isn't even the best drummer in the Beatles!'

I was totally obsessed with George throughout my teenage years
He spoke to me and a couple friends once. I couldn't answer obviously as I was so shocked I floated on air all the way home.

He was just the kindest of all The Beatles KatyK he was so softly spoken as opposed to the other three.

I think it's up to Henley to decide if they want a statue or any such memorial in the town. Did he do anything 'for' the town?We go there a lot, and nobody has ever mentioned him, even when he lived there.I liked George too, think he did some great stuff music wise, but he was known to be very private, almost hermit like as the years went on.

The best memorial is the music.
