Combed out my hairbrush this am. Threw the handful of white hair out of the window. Next door have a bird box with a camera inside, as they are away at the moment, the lead is through to my kitchen. I've seen a bluetit enter it with a beak full of MY HAIR to line the nest.

I've brought some home-made ginger biscuits in for harrigan and Nana3 and of course, anyone else who is tempted. They are pretty nice, even if I says so as shouldn't! Probably not for your poor sore throat soop but I have also brought some junket - might help you! Love junket.

We had our patio and path jet-washed yesterday and are amazed at how brilliant it looks - so clean and bright and new-looking. Our lovely window cleaner did it - such a hard working man. I am glad we found him.

What do you mean? I have an excellent vocabulary of swear words in English, French, Arabic. Haven't found any Welsh ones yet! Are there any? Welsh getters please help.

Harrigran Super news. I was concerned for you. Surely you'll be able to claim compensation. Things could have been dire. What if you'd been away from home...the ceiling would have come down. Get writing. You do not need extra hassle at this time. I wish that Galen or Elegran lived nest door. Either has a wonderful way with words.

soop ah I did chuckle at the way Rory has MacS wound tightly round his cheeky little paw ! Our pets know the way to our hearts. Sam has had a radical hair cut ready for summer. You would not recognise him. Its for the best though, saves a lot of detangling

I hope your throat is feeling better , I too had the sinus problem and it was only sorted out by the antibiotics. I recommend jelly and ice-cream for sore throats - no nutrition at all but delicious

Harrigran so glad to hear the plumber got to you . I would have thought pipework should have lasted a lot longer too - maybe you can contact the original fitter?

We survived our 2 days with 3 of our 4 DGC. I love to watch DGS3 play with his cousins , he gets such fun out of it. Swimming went well although they were a handful as our DGD is a fish and can do much more than the boys , who desperately wanted to do all the things she could. Himself could not sneak off to the steam room as I simply did not have enough eyes.

Mind you , but yesterday lunchtime we were on our uppers and enjoyed a very peaceful evening.

I had a lovely time with my camera though so forgive me for sharing a couple of pictures of my beauties ps no benches were harmed in the jumping game

soop don't worry about me, it is a temporary problem mainly caused by the bad start to the year + vet bills. But the light is on at the end of the tunnel and things are in hand to sort out the problem.

Been nice here as well today and managed two sessions in the garden though I could have done with OH's help, but he went to work so that he doesn't feel guilty about going out all day tomorrow.

Hope you get some rest now harrigran. I found ginger biscuits a great comfort when having chemo.

Good news Harrigran

Good news, plumber has been and fixed the radiator leaks. The radiators were brought over from Switzerland and have non standard washers, he has done a temporary repair until new valves and washers can be obtained.
Washing machine now running with the pile of towels used to soak up the water.
I am cross that the pipework has only lasted four years.

I hate to leave our kitchen knowing that harrigran has a problem. I'm sorry not to have a solution and frustrated that the plumber is otherwise engaged. If matters worsen, you may need to look in the yellow pages for an emergency call-out.

Yes I agree with Alea's suggestion, close the valves both ends if possible.

harrigran I mentioned your problem radiator to MacS. He says that if you tighten the valve, take great care not to over-tighten it. He wishes that he could pop in to try to be of some assistance.

Alea Helpful suggestion re harri's leaking radiator.

Oh harrigran you don't need this. Can you slide a roasting tin /baking sheet or something similar plus some old towels under the radiator to catch the water and minimise the damage? Or is there a helpful "chap" who can close off both ends of the rad (while still doing the roasting tin thing) until the water level drops below the leak?

grannylyn My appetite is not as robust as it usually is. Banana is a very sensible and nutritious food source when one is feeling out of sorts. Sinuses are inflamed right now. Take good care of yourself.

Our visit to Torben is still a few weeks away. I do get over-excited once we've set a date. I wouldn't mind betting that lots of Granspals do the same. It's what we do...

harrigran This is most definitely not what the doctor ordered. I'm so sorry that you're unable to take a much-needed rest. PLEASE may the plumber return home soon. Leaking radiators need fixing urgently. Is anyone at home with you?

soop I am getting the feeling but I could be very wrong, that Rory has been spoiled, in fact ruined by MacSporran. This will now become an everyday occurrence to get what he wants.

harrigran you must look after yourself but I agree that is difficult if you have radiator leaks. Will the plumber come "out of hours" at great cost? You need that like a hole in the head.

I am calling into the kitchen for my afternoon nap. The chemo is making me tired but our upstairs radiators have sprung leaks and is running through the music room ceiling so I can't go and lie down. Plumber will come eventually but he is out for the day with his family

At lunchtime Rory stood beside his dish containing perfectly good cat food. He looked towards MacS and then me and gave a feeble squeak. I asked MacS what is it that R wants. MacS moved his hand (slightly) towards a particular cupboard. Rory then made a robust sound. What he wanted and what he got was a wee packet of the best gourmet cat food. MacS has always maintained that said food was to be kept for VERY special occasions, as it is costly. I enquired...what is the occasion. He replied...he's such a good boy.

Tara would think that supper had arrived early, albeit uncooked!

Lona I've got the collywobbles on your behalf. It would be wonderful if your first viewer decided to commit. When we lived in our tiny "cluttered" cottage in Cornwall, the agent suggested removing some well-loved paintings and ornaments. I did put a bit of stuff away, but it didn't please me. Home is where the heart and clutter is.

I regret not having my camera with me this morning. A cottage door opened and out came a ginger cat accompanied by a hen.

I like Don Warrington, but I hate Shakespeare! I have tried but to no avail. Same with opera, but I'm going to see Madame Butterfly tonight at the cinema. I've seen it a couple of times before and Puccini's music is always wonderful.
