We lost count of the number of final calls we had when my MIL was dying. She was terminally and but we were summoned to her bedside by other members of the family several times only to all sit around for hours watching her sleep. Particularly difficult as we lived over an hour away. She'd then wake up and announce she fancied French onion soup or Yorkshire pudding for tea. She finally passed away in her own time on her own which was how she'd always wanted it.
