Odd socks

The full stop and double space after your name is to stop autocorrect changing it to Isabella. I find I have to do this with most people's board names. WHY?? ?

I have two left feet. I have two pairs of socks marked R and L and today I have on the two marked L.

In the grand scheme of things I don't think it really matters .........

It seems to be the thing now with younger people but each to their own I say. If I felt like doing something out of my comfort zone, I would wear odd socks and I would also hope someone would comment. It would lead to an interesting conversation I'm sure.

Anya - GDs were given some of those colourful matching socks at Christmas and loved them. One was already intentionally wearing her own socks mismatched and the other was past caring. She had had years of her mother and her I year younger twin bros helping themselves to her socks. I bought her very girly ones and the boys still nicked them. Her attitude now is 'socks are socks' so any two are fine by her as long as they don't show at work!

I read a story (fantasy) a couple of years ago about a place where odd socks end up.
I wish could remember what it was called.
My pet hate is seeing somebody with a hole in their socks. Especially with a toe poking out!

I always match my socks and DHs socks but elder D has always worn first 'pair' she finds. I used to joke that she had another pair just like that somewhere. Now I find I'm doing this with GSs who also just pair up what they find and wearing odd socks doesn't bother them at all.

It doesn't bother me one way or the other - I'd wear them if I had any lol

i hate mismatched socks too however my daughter [at 45] and two of my grandaughters [13 and 10] all wear odd socks. i've been accused of suffering from "matching sock ocd" so i'm so pleased to see that other gnetters agree with me!!

I think there are many blind people who wear odd socks and odd shoes. I remember when I worked at the school we had a blind piano tuner, who was wearing odd shoes, and quite proudly announced he had another pair like that at home. I think that was probably the standard answer when someone mentioned it!

I still prefer black socks, even though I no longer wear them for 'work' trouser suits as I'm long-retired but I like them to match too and they seldom seem to . Either one thick and one thin, one ribbed and one plain and so on. So I've invented a scheme where I sew a bright thread of cotton on the toe of each new pair of black socks so they're easy to pair up when they come out of the wash;. some are turquoise marked, some orange, some red and so on. The thread doesn't show -much- when I take my boots off .
Anal I know......but it keeps me happy!

DGS always seems to have odd socks on, he has lots of his favourite characters on his socks, Cars, Minions, Dinosaurs etc and can never decide which ones he wants wear.
He is happy thats all that matters.

I was fed up finding odd socks in the washing machine and so went and bought those things that keep them together. H just puts them in when he takes them off and hey presto no more odd socks.

I used to keep a bag in the bottom of the airing cupboard for odd socks. The children would be give the task of pairing them up every so often. The highest total reached was 123 - where did the other 123 go?

I love odd socks, particularly if they are full of colour. Not sure I would do it myself.
Many of the younger generation don't iron, don't make beds, so why waste time pairing up socks, just chuck them in a drawer! In so many households the mum is working p/t, juggling childcare, they do what's needed!
We might have moved on from our mums, but I see some of the women in our family taking on cleaning, washing, shopping, AND childcare arrangements. Their hubbies are lovely guys, but don't seem to be able to multi task/think/plan. They do do the outside jobs --bins gardening, car stuff. So it's not all one sided, but the women are doing the everyday routine stuff on top of working and childcare.

In Hitchhikers Guide To the Galaxy there was a planet for lost biros, so perhaps there is one for lost socks.

My DG has insisted on wearing odd socks since she was a toddler but I prefer matching ones myself !

DS and wife call their odd socks in the bottom of the ironing basket "the unloved" socks in the hope that one day they will find their partner! Now just to deviate - matching underwear. Or is that another thread?!!

DD only wears odd socks and even buys packs of odd socks ... probably too lazy to pair them up anyway!

On this weighty matter of odd sock wearing, having given it much thought ( a couple of seconds) I realize that I don't wear mis -matched socks, but, if I found that I accidentally had done, would not be fussed about it.DH on the hand, would go ballistic.

I would 't wear odd socks myself but there are and have neen far worse fashion fads - like showing thong straps above hipsters, bras or lack of through baggy armholes etc

When both dd's were still at home, socks were the bane of my life. I once collected up 70 odd ones and put them in a bag, thinking that one day all their matching halves would turn up.
Some years later I threw the whole lot out.
Dds would grab any two socks that happened to be clean, and would raid mine or Dh's, never mind that they were too big, or mine.
I had to assume that they were endlessly leaving the odd one at someone else's house, otherwise where on earth did they all go?

I don't mind brightly coloured mismatches, but I don't think I'd wear them myself unless it was under boots and nobody outside friends /family was going to see.
Anyone else might assume I'm a dippy old fartette with impending dementia - my mother had it for years so I'm all too conscious...

Terribull I wonder if the virgins have the missing socks?
