I have no problem with the royal family but does anyone feel like me that William and Kate appear to have a lot of holidays I know they don't live in our world but it must make young families annoyed when they can't afford one especially when cost of Kate's going away clothes is usually what it would cost for them to go away .

OK obeione if they really are a tourist attraction let's do it properly. So I suggest The Tower of London hosts events in the summer featuring the Windsor family, maybe a meet and greet, maybe some sort of ceremony. Tickets will of course be incredibly expensive. They could also do Guided Tours of the Palaces. Sunday afternoon with the Queen doing her art collection and Charles leading the garden tour of Buck House should go down very well. Then at least they would be doing something for their money. (Lesser Royals at less important palaces would of course be cheaper!)

But they see royal events on TV in most of the rest of the world, and are in awe and inspiration. And at some point they visit.
ould they really come in such numbers if they were visiting Mr and Mrs Joe average and family?? Of course not.

Anniebach Sun 31-Jul-16 10:18:23

No obieone , tourists will still come . Do you really think people choose the UK for a holiday in the hope of seeing the queen? They are not going to find her in the tower or on the London eye are they, they stop off at Buck house because it's there ,

obieone Sun 31-Jul-16 10:14:06

Are you winding everyone up?

obieone Sun 31-Jul-16 10:12:30

Of course the windsors bring in tourists!

Anniebach Sun 31-Jul-16 09:47:53

Charles receives over nineteen million a year from the duchy of Cornwall, the queen gets her keep plus over fifteen million from the duchy of Lancaster , with this she keeps Andrew, Anne and Edward

Visitors may want to see changing thr guard etc , we pay for them not queenie , I assume we will pay for these guards the three months queenie is in Scotland

Suppose if there are no windsors to see through that the summer months tours could be arranged to view the homeless sleeping on the streets

The windsors do not bring in tourists, the top visited attraction is The Tower, the London eye attracts more tourists the buck house

merlotgran Sun 31-Jul-16 09:34:36

We haven't heard much from the Monster Raving Loony party lately have we?

Gononsuch Sun 31-Jul-16 09:15:28

Anniebach

Stop asking sensible questions, it spoils a thread.

As I understand it an act of parliament can rid us of this waste of space, so would we vote for a political party that mentioned this in their manifesto.

I would [disgusted].

aggie Sun 31-Jul-16 09:07:10

sigh.................

Anniebach Sun 31-Jul-16 09:06:50

Yes obieone, but not the Windsor family, we would still have our history if they lived a less decadent life style

obieone Sun 31-Jul-16 09:01:54

Castles, history, palaces, pomp, the list goes on.

DaphneBroon Sat 30-Jul-16 23:33:50

and run and run and run ........

Anniebach Sat 30-Jul-16 23:30:57

If they are a huge tourist draw why do we have so many tourists in London during August when there are no windsors there ?

DaphneBroon Sat 30-Jul-16 23:06:53

I knew this would run and run and run and run ......

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 30-Jul-16 23:06:05

I keep thinking this thread is about our local football team. #royalberkshire

Bellanonna Sat 30-Jul-16 23:03:40

Agree obieone

Anniebach Sat 30-Jul-16 22:12:47

What are number of tourists in July, August and September obieone , not combined ,

obieone Sat 30-Jul-16 21:57:28

The Royal Family are a huge tourist draw.

Anniebach Sat 30-Jul-16 21:34:50

Ana, I haven't time to play your baiting games, I repeat it was said in the tv interview, got that? .tv interview which involves two people, one asking the questions and the other chosing or not choosing to give the answers. I am not one who takes 'sources close to' quoted in the press as always truthful

Ana Sat 30-Jul-16 20:54:32

So, we can assume that it was only the left-wing press that was calling him 'work-shy Will'...

Anniebach Sat 30-Jul-16 20:51:36

Never read the torygraph Merlotgran, but thank you

Jalima Sat 30-Jul-16 20:50:32

I am still waiting for permission to halve my hours
(means I will probably do nothing tomorrow grin)

I could buy the Sunday Telegraph and read it, would take all day.

merlotgran Sat 30-Jul-16 20:45:21

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/prince-william/12169134/Prince-William-unable-to-carry-out-more-royal-duties-because-of-aviation-industry-red-tape.html

Is The Telegraph alright then?

#probablynot

Anniebach Sat 30-Jul-16 20:32:49

I did say the press made the allegations and he gave the interview, it was the interview I referred to, certainly wouldn't read the express , dreadful newspaper,

Jalima Sat 30-Jul-16 20:18:56

Very kind of you anniebach - anything you can do for the rest of us? grin
although I must confess I didn't do a lot today
