Yes BBeavan I remember him too, it's amazing how a song can transport you to a time and place. I have Paul Temple on cd and when I cannot sleep I put them on, I fall asleep fairly quickly, I think it is because my parents listened to it on the radio when I was a child and it makes me feel safe and secure.

Mildred I don't remember those, But I quite liked ' Cherry Pink in Apple Blossom Time' played on a trumpet by Eddie Calvert

Greyduster yesterday afternoon, I hummed the Coronation Scot (Express?) to my other half, and asked him the name of the actor, and although we could both remember the programme, the name would not come to light, and then just as I was dropping off to sleep last night I remembered, nudged the o.h. and said "Paul Temple" "What?" "Paul Temple - Coronation Express" - "Oh!Yes, thanks!". Well, at least I remembered.

BBeavan do you remember Victor Sylvester, Liebertango and Jealousy are two of my favourites, I too was left at home when I was ill, but Mum only worked part time in the mornings.

Paul Temple had another memorable signature tune and favourite of mine - Coronation Scot!

I have just remembered the Paul Temple Series

He was always getting knocked out and his wife Steve got kidnapped. All with terribly terribly posh voices.

BBbevan, I loved Wilfred Pickles, "What`s on the table, Mabel?" A few bits of things and a few shillings were considered a real prize if won!

PRINTMISS someone only has to mention Dick Barton and the signature tune comes to mind, now it will be my 'ear worm' all evening
I was too young to listen to it, but DB both loved it and I used to hear the music and call them.

When I was eleven I contracted rheumatic fever , or as my Dad called it, Dramatic fever. I was confined to bed for 6 months. My Mother had only just got her first job, so I was left alone all day. I had a flask of cocoa, biscuits, fruit , sandwiches and the wireless. I listened to everything. Schools programs. I liked History best as there were little plays. Workers Playtime, Wilfred Pickles, Listen with Mother. Woman's Hour and more schools programs.I know all the signature tunes.
My Dad was a teacher and was home about 5, and he would carry me downstairs to watch Children's Hour on our new television. But I loved those quiet hours on my own with only the wireless for company.

PRINTMISS The tune alone was exciting. I loved it.
