Words With Friends - and cheating!

This is a question to anyone who plays Words With Friends - when do you - or do you ever - "swap" your letters? I never do, I challenge myself to play the hand I'm dealt (in life as well!)

I play words with friends although I usually play with any obscure person as I have no friends playing but anyway the words are ridiculous and I can't find some in any dictionary at all I win quite a lot but I just put letters wherever I can fit them in various combinations until I get a hit or not

Sorry for lazy use of abbreviation I assumed people knew about the game (Scrabble app), and it is in full in the subject . But now I see subject could be misleading if someone doesn't know the game.

I play WWF with friends, as well as scrabble. I'm not sure if there is cheating going on, but choose not to think so. In fact, I think there isn't. What would be the point. I just view it as good mind exercise, and contact. Living in the depths of France, with quite a few of my friends living in other countries, it fills a little hole that sometimes occurs. It's called being lonesome, but has a positive purpose, if only for a few minutes or two.

I had no idea people did things like this with their computer. I won't ask why.

Maranta, I'm with you. I also thought it was World Wildlife Fund, and thought the thread title meant ' having words' ie argument, with friends, and then found out they were cheating on something/one. . We should make another thread using the acronyms, but not as we know them. ?

Maranta it's Words with Friends, don't worry about asking questions, we are not all sarcastic.

I try words in desperation and let the game decide too - sometimes they are even correct!!

PS: I played several times with my step grandson who is at uni and he gave up because he couldn't beat me !

I started playing this with my d-i-l. She would come up with the most bizarre words and when I challenged them she would just say "well, it accepted it so it must be ok"! What a lot of tosh! I would put in what I knew to be a perfectly acceptable word and it would refuse it! Eventually, DH spent so much time looking over my shoulder making helpful suggestions that I let him take the damned game over and I haven't played since, but I have to admit, he is good! He plays strategically and beats her most times, but he still throws up his hands in horror at some of the words she comes up with. Is she cheating? I couldn't possibly comment!

Please, what is WWF? (Those acronyms again!). Google comes up with World Wildlife Fund and something to do with wrestling! Please enlighten for the uninitiated. ?

Yep I realise that bags (I'm learning them from constant use by my opponent!)

I don't use the app's dictionary, but I do sometimes hit "Send" on a word that I'm not entirely sure of, and let the app decide!

Maybe I'll just have to up my game.

My DD reckons you can just learn by heart all the two-letter words.

Scrabble online openly lists all the two-letter words that are acceptable so you have a permanent reference. You can also use the app's dictionary to see if a word is acceptable (i.e. in the dictionary the app is using). I don't think it's cheating really.

Likewise with Wordscraper, which is a game very similar to Scrabble.

If you want to play without reference to dictionaries, I think you have to play on an actual board in 'real life'. Just the way the cookie crumbles.

I play with 3 people GK and one of them beats me everytime. I know my vocab is better than hers so that explains it.. DS usually beats me as he's an English graduate and reads like there is no tomorrow but I'm getting better against him too.
