Induction Hobs

I got mine from IKEA and it's great - very easy to use and control. I've had it a few years now so it may be an out of date model but if I ever had to buy a new hob I would not want anything other than an induction hob and IKEA would be my first port of call.

I had new kitchen a few months ago and opted for an induction hob. No regrets. We don't have gas in the village. It takes a bit of getting used to. Very quick but no residual heat. Though I did have a near disaster yesterday. I took out my hob steamer but then changed my mind and decided to use a large saucepan. I left the steamer on the hob and set the saucepan off. About ten minutes later I smelt burning! The ring under the steamer recognised the weight and turned that one on before I set the saucepan on. I haven't used that ring yet but I hope it is okay. Steamer is a funny colour now.

Having preferred gas all my life but then moving to a no-gas area, I bought an indication hob. I'll never have anything else now as I love it. So quick and easy and the hob only needs a wipe with a cloth to keep clean.

You might need new pans, though, but you can check online for that.

I have a Neff (I'm a big fan of Neff) and can't recommend it highly enough. Both my children have induction jobs. We had a gas hob before and I was constantly forgetting to turn it off when it was on very low! This one remembers for me. When it can't detect a pan, it turns itself off. They are brilliantly easy to clean and always look good. Mine also has a timer which you can set for all four rings. The only downside is that you have to change your pans if they aren't compatible, but Sainsburys and Dunelm do some good fairly inexpensive ones. Mine also doesn't like my ceramic omelette pan (but then I don't like it either!). They take a bit of getting used to but worth every penny.

I had my kitchen refitted last year and had a neff hob fitted. I love it - it is so responsive. I actually got a whistling kettle and did away with my electric one. Word of warning - you need pans suitable for induction and some of my saucepans wouldn't work on the new job. I was fortunate that Neff had an offer at the time and a full set of saucepans and a frying pan came free with the hob. Its worth checking to see if that offer is still on. (I also got a neff high level 'hide and glide' oven which is fantastic - no more bending to see how things are cooking, easy to get at to clean and great for lifting out heavy casseroles) and I love how the door slides in out of the way.

I was given the same set of pans. One of them is big enough to do service in a soup kitchen!! But they're good.

I think so far I've only used the big one for boiling a gammon.

I've just had my new kitchen fitted last week - with all new Siemens appliances including an induction hob. I think I'm in lurrrve with it! Very fast and responsive, and as pp say, so easy to clean!

Hahaha, coming back to this, I see I have an indication hob and not an induction hob. I've no idea what it indicates but it sounds fun!
