(Apology: slightly O/T). I was never chastised for my lefthandedness gillybob, but in school in the 1950s I did have one teacher (an evil-looking woman in "devil's eyebrow" glasses) who taught the entire class that "your RIGHT hand is the hand that you WRITE with". To her, the lefthanders were just collateral damage - and I still get left and right confused now, 60 years on.
I remember my father (another southpaw who HAD been forced to change his writing hand in his schooldays) going to my school to complain about it. But I don't recall it having any effect.
