I've lurked on that thread wot. Didn't dare post, you are a braver soul than I! I suspect jingl will choose for herself whether there is reincarnation. As Charleygirl says keep your pecker up. Dear Soop, only something thing really petty! I'm ashamed of myself, knowing that there's real suffering going on. Just someone said they'd like a thread to end so I put lots of trivial posts on, then another person sort of admonished me! I do tend to jump off the deep end. I will give my thoughts to people who need them now. Put too much store in GN.

Lona When I read your post, I was livid. How can anyone be so selfish. It beggars belief. Thank goodness that your granddaughter has you to show her that she matters. I'm afraid I would let rip when the holiday makers return. I would not be able to contain my dismay/disgust.

jollyg Yep! Assistance at the airports has been booked. I am taken up to the cabin entrance by a lift. I certainly could not walk such distances or climb steep stairs. Our granddaughter will be meeting us. The wedding venue is about 20 min drive from the airport. The night we arrive we'll be introduced to her lovely man's family at a barbecue. Wedding following day. Special breakfast following day to say farewell to guests. The newly weds will be honeymooning in China.

Good afternoon to you lovely lot...I shall explain why it is that I'm so late. After which, I shall catch up with all your messages.

Flights to Amsterdam (and home again) booked. The entire exercise took almost an hour. We were terrified of making a bish up! Repeatedly checking that we had the right dates. Anyone would think that we were a pair of ditherers. Which we most def are. The prices of the tickets was a pleasant surprise.
Now do you really want to know how our efforts to establish what flights are available from Campbeltown to Glasgow on those same dates went? We had a bags type experience and remain none the wiser. No details available. Tried to send an email. It didn't go...blood pressure climbing all the time. Ah! I thought. I'll phone the airport. Now, this is where things got totally out of hand and I shouted obscenities at a recorded message. Each time I called the number a canned voice gave me options. If I did NOT wish to take those options...I could "hold on" for an operator. I held on. No one came to my assistance. I repeated the exercise four more times. I was given the option of pressing 0 for an operator. I did so...guess what...I was back at the beginning and spitting tacks. Language was that blue MacSporran raised both eyebrows. Okay! It's been a day of buggerations thus far.
The UTI is giving me bother. I barely slept last night because I felt all of a dither. Read the pamphlet and established that it just so happens to be one of scores of side effects.

I feel heart sorry for that poor little girl- she is so lucky to have you who loves and cares about her. How can a mother treat a child in that fashion? Selfish beyond words. I cannot say here what I would really like to call her- she does not deserve a little girl, she is so selfish, looking after number one it would appear.

number that sounds so much nicer for David and for you all as a family. Our local hospice is very relaxed about visiting, about staying over if wanted, just the sort of "home from home" where David can be comfortable and you can perhaps?) relax at last.

lona That is so sad that your DiL is so wrapped up in her new relationship that she has forgotten her own little girl's birthday. I am sure that you will give her a lovely day and hopefully, at 5 won't be aware of the missing cards and presents from her mum. How lucky for her that she has a gran.to give her lots of love and attention.

On the subject of bins, 12 years ago we bought a Brabantia bin that opens when the top is pressed. I was horrified at the price (£90 I think) but, 9 years into the 10 year guarantee, the closing mechanism broke. I rang Brabantia who sent two replacement bits which are both guaranteed for 10 years. So, the initial outlay might have been massive, but the bin will last 20 years.

Soop, I know you are an independant auld biddy, but Schipol airport is vast and has long walks to get anywhere.

The last twice i have air travelled I have asked for assistance, viz wheelchair.

I walk with difficulty now and with queues for this and that, and waiting, there is no other way I would transit an airport, as you bypass all the waits, and it almost makes air travel something to be enjoyed. McS can tag along too!

I a!so would be angry beyond words Lona although a lot I would like to say spring to mind. I am sure you will give her a wonderful time and hopefully mum and family will bring lots of lovely presents back. It isn't the same though is it. I am sure that like me all you want for her,as I want for my GC, is a stable family with mum and dad and them all together and that is never going to happen. I am typing through tears at the sadness we all feel.

I need to vent this morning! Tomorrow is my dgd's fifth birthday. Yesterday, her mum and new 'boyfriend', brother and the rest of the her maternal family flew to America for a family wedding. Not one of them left dgd a card or a present for her birthday!
I am angry beyond words!
We are all taking her bowling this afternoon, followed by her favourite Chinese meal, with lots of little gifts and surprises. She will have a lovely time BUT nothing from her mummy! Some people are so cold.

Really pleased that the move has taken place number, so much better for you both. A hospice has such a different approach and if you let them the staff will care for you too. Guess Mia will be visiting very soon

soop, have you decided on the flight? Seems much more comfortable as well as sensible. It will be a very special occasion. Your granddaughter will be pleased when flights are booked, one less thing for her to think about.

Our builders/tradesmen have finally departed. The relief! Will also,spend far less on the food shop without all the biscuits . It really wasn't major as these things go, but a problem or two and the inevitable wait for the next person to turn up doubled the estimated time. Now it's down to us. We can take cour time with the finishing and decorating, enjoy this part. Another two or three weeks and an extra sitting space to look forward to.

We're hospital visiting every few days at the moment, takes most of a day because of the distance. Have every admiration for people who do this constantly, I get very sleepy, the wards feel overly warm when you are dressed . Still, pleased we can do it and frequency will reduce as our friend recovers, although it will be a long haul for her I think.

Watched turbine blades trundling past staying with friends in Wales, soop. The drivers skill negotiating the tiny road was impressive. Hasn't realised how big they are.

Off volunteering today, then minding grandchildren this evening, though sometimes think they mind me , will wonder where the day has gone.
