Handsome men.

As an elderly person, I think Cary Grant, Robert Mitchum, and Gregory Peck would be described as handsome, but can't get enthusiastic about any of today's " stars".
Brad Pitt does nothing for me, ditto Johnny Depp .
Thoughts?

The young Elvis would beat anyone, but GC in ER, Ewan McGregor, Colin Firth, Robin Ellis in the original Poldark (though Aidan Turner not bad!) and Alastair Mackenzie in Monarch of the Glen.

Daniel Craig coming out of the sea in Casino Royal

Liked Brad when he was young (Meet Joe Black days), when he looked about 12. Patrick Swayze made my toes curl, but never saw anything in Depp. My other heart throb in the 60s - I went to Stratford to see Hamlet and Laertes was Peter McEnery - wow!!! Yes, agree about Hugh Jackman too, Merlotgran!

John Travolta (before the face work).

Got to be Mark Harmon for me!

MammaN Mon 26-Sept-16 11:10:12

Rufus Sewell wins over Poldark (whoever he is) anytime. Steve McQueen?

lujaha Mon 26-Sept-16 11:05:18

Ewan McGregor, James Nesbitt, Monty Don, Marcus Wareing.

Wobblybits. ...I think we got the message! ?. I'm not keen on conventionally handsome men, I'm a bit weird - I've always liked Alan Rickman, Mark Rylance, Anton Lesser, Peter O'Toole, Gary Oldman, more for their voices and acting ability than looks, but I have to admit I'm a bit partial to Benedict Cumberbatch & Tom Hardy!?

Lupatria Mon 26-Sept-16 11:01:45

james martin - and he's even better in real life!

margrete Mon 26-Sept-16 10:57:57

I agree with M0nica. None of them. The old saying applies 'Handsome is as handsome does'. And we do not know what these men are like as men, not as the characters they portray nor yet when caught by the paparazzi. I learned about very handsome men at a very young age and so far, have never been wrong.

Tudorrose Mon 26-Sept-16 10:56:47

Has to be Gregory Peck, the most handsome man ever. Also I believe a really nice person. To Kill a Mockingbird was written for him! Colin Firth a close runner up

Mamagborg Mon 26-Sept-16 10:54:21

Have to agree with the older stars.
I think I was born in the wrong era. I've always had a massive crush on Cary Grant and Paul Newman, however I do like my men a bit quirky these days and with the exceptions of Aiden Turner and Pierce Brosnan, am not madly keen on any of them. Brad Pitt, George Clooney etc don't do it for me and Richard Gere makes my skin crawl. I think the problem is we know too much about them and so there is no mystique surrounding them. That enigmatic mystery man is hard to find on screen these days.

Seb2015 Mon 26-Sept-16 10:51:46

Rufus Sewell - can't add anything else wink

HannahLoisLuke Mon 26-Sept-16 10:49:36

I don't usually go for conventionally handsome men except for George Clooney, Elvis as a young man, Rufus Sewell, sob, is he completely out now?
I like more battered types like James Nesbitt,Philip Glenister, and oddly I find David Dimbleby strangely attractive.

Lilyflower Mon 26-Sept-16 10:48:57

I really do not like this muscly beefcake look that is so popular now. Six packs do not do it for me. I prefer a chap to look intelligent and beautiful rather than manly.

a1icia Mon 26-Sept-16 10:46:18

Hugh Jackman. And Hugh Jackman. Not only VERY easy on the eye, easiest I've ever seen I think, on and off screeen, but a decent person to boot.

muswellblue Mon 26-Sept-16 10:46:14

It is all in the eyes I think - Paul Newman, Steve McQueen. Slightly sardonic and worldly wise. MMmmm!

Greyduster Mon 26-Sept-16 10:42:40

Actually, the late Alan Rickman always managed to stir something in me (not easy these days smile), and I would certainly have elbowed Meryl Streep out of the way to get into Robert Redford's - erm - 'plane in Out of Africa!

Cosafina Mon 26-Sept-16 10:42:14

Used to think Johnny Depp was God's gift till he got the greasy hair and became a wife beater.
Used NOT to like George Clooney (too plastic looking) but since he started to go grey he's even yummier than Cary Grant smile

Ducks1 Mon 26-Sept-16 10:41:32

Ralph Fiennes for me ?

Elenkalubleton Mon 26-Sept-16 10:37:09

Sean Connery Frank Sinatra

Tegan Mon 26-Sept-16 10:32:45

Cillian Murphy (sigh). Agree about Johnny Depp in that when he was a happily married man I adored him but don't like what he's become. A lot of Game of Thrones actors are very attractive...one of the older ones being IanGlenn

Wobblybits Mon 26-Sept-16 09:54:00

Polly, I can do "cuddly" smile

One o the ladies I worked with was complaining that she was too fat, I said she was not even cuddly, yet alone fat, she didn't know if that was a compliment or not.

Judthepud2 Mon 26-Sept-16 09:36:07

Scattering a bit of fairy dust in your direction Wobbly. Hope it works for you!

pollyperkins Mon 26-Sept-16 09:32:28

Wobbly you look very jolly and cuddly. A big improvement on some of these so called pin ups!
