As an elderly person, I think Cary Grant, Robert Mitchum, and Gregory Peck would be described as handsome, but can't get enthusiastic about any of today's " stars".
Brad Pitt does nothing for me, ditto Johnny Depp .
Thoughts?

Me too BBbevan. Unfortunately he died tragically when quite young.

In my early teens I 'loved' Gil Favor from Rawhide, Played by Eric Fleming.

I used to work with a Terence Stamp look alike. (Us grans will remember him) I was 18 he was 19. He was a nice chap but toooo handsome for me. I was above average pretty at that age but I didn't have film star looks. He used to ask me out but I thought he was having a laugh and never turned up. Years later when I was a young married women we met by chance and he told me he had been waiting for me on every occasion when he had asked me out.

Don't regret it all. My dh and I were about the same on the nice looking spectrum and that suited me. Really handsome men can be off putting. I do quite like Monty Don who is ageing well and Russell Brand.

I used to adore George Peppard. Rafael Nadal can leave his tennis shoes under my bed any time!

JTP, you may never know how much that hug means atm, I could do with a little fairy dust from Tinkerbell.

Hello. I am new here but couldn't resist posting on this one. George Clooney for me please, and if fancying someone a bit more characterful and rugged, how about Nicholas cage? Very good actor too I think

Linsco56 Sun 25-Sept-16 23:50:10

How could I have forgotten Robert Redford ?

numberplease Sun 25-Sept-16 23:42:28

Cornel Wilde from days gone by, nowadays Aiden Turner is the stuff that dreams are made of!

Judthepud2 Sun 25-Sept-16 23:37:01

Having just been watching 'Poldark', Aiden Turner is my idea of gorgeous...and he is Irish which is an added bonus. Can't think of anyone else currently in the public eye who appeals to me.

Wobbly I have no idea what you look like but having agreed I can be Tinkerbell in the GN panto, you can have a special hug from me!

Maggiemaybe Sun 25-Sept-16 23:32:20

I do quite like Benedict, though - I think I'm attracted to Sherlock's fine mind wink

Maggiemaybe Sun 25-Sept-16 23:30:22

Oh, Paul Newman, and oh, Steve McQueen - those eyes!!

Aiden Turner these days , and though I'm not usually attracted to serial killers, I'll make an exception for Jamie Dornan.

merlotgran Sun 25-Sept-16 23:07:13

I honestly can't find anything the least bit attractive about Benedict Cumberbatch.

Paul Newman in Exodus had my teenage heart a flutter!

Envious Sun 25-Sept-16 23:00:44

Paul Newman,Idris Elba,John F. Kennedy Jr.

Rosieroe Sun 25-Sept-16 22:59:07

Jason Momoa (Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones).

NotTooOld Sun 25-Sept-16 22:26:22

Monty Don is quite handsome but because I know he suffers from depression I am put off. Am I heartless?

Ana Sun 25-Sept-16 22:22:55

Benedict Cumberbatch always looks ill to me. Not attractive at all, although he does have a pleasant voice.

gillybob Sun 25-Sept-16 22:19:13

Omg I forgot Monty Don TriciaF his voice is so gorgeous . I said to DH on Friday night that I would sleep very well if he ( monty not DH) talked me to sleep. NTS it didn't go down too well .

SueDonim Sun 25-Sept-16 22:14:37

I've got Leonard Cohen's Chelsea Hotel as an ear worm now. 'You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.' grin

Interesting that no one here has mentioned Benedict Cumberbatch as their dream boat, when he seems v popular with the youngsters. He doesn't do it for me, either, I must say.

Johnny Depp I like though he needs to give himself a talking to before I go off him. Rufus Sewell I've adored for years. Matthew Maconaghy is easy on the eye as well and Tom Hiddleston. I loved Marlon Brando and Paul Newman, too.

Brad Pitt does nothing for me, nor Matt Damon. I can't even tell them apart! grin

NotTooOld Sun 25-Sept-16 21:57:38

Why didn't Michael Portillo get crossed out? confused

NotTooOld Sun 25-Sept-16 21:56:53

I don't think I go for conventionally handsome. Mark Rylance is short but very attractive - it's the eyes, I think. Johnny Depp as the pirate was yummy but not recently. Agree about Bryan Ferry (whatever was Jerry Hall thinking of?) Young George Harrison although probably moody. Prince Harry, yes, quite dashing. Pasha off Strictly, yes, young Terence Stamp - yes (eyes again). DH has the eyes, too. Not Mr Gere, he's too smooth. -Quite fancy Michael Portillo-

stillaliveandkicking Sun 25-Sept-16 21:14:09

Totally agree Thing... Mr Gere is very handsome.

Thingmajig Sun 25-Sept-16 21:12:15

I've always been a bit partial to Mr Gere and he only gets better with age! smile

Wobblybits Sun 25-Sept-16 21:02:22

Ok let's not go overboard, my ego won't stand the shock grin

TriciaF Sun 25-Sept-16 20:51:27

And mine - nice smile, wb

harrigran Sun 25-Sept-16 20:33:26

Not over keen on modern film stars, Steve Mcqueen was a bit of alright. Wobblybits is probably more my type grin
