I find it very strange that Pricilla Presley seems to make a living off her ex husbands celebrity She has just been on TV advertising some big concert she has arranged in his name and I can't help feeling she is using him they were divorced through her affair with her gym coach and although they presumably remained good friends she seems to simper away as if they had had a wonderful perfect life
She hasn't done herself any favours with the plastic surgery either

Elvis could have totally wrecked her life; he met her when she was 14 and she could have gone down the same drink and drugs route as him had she not been a stronger person.

I agree re the over-done plastic surgery btw Bluebelle although my (male) hairdresser thinks she looks 'absolutely fantastic'.

She may have had only one child with Elvis and others afterwards, but that one child is Elvis's only child and presumably his heir - he died when she was only 9 so I would presume that her mother would have been a trustee until she was of an age to inherit.

Upon Lisa Presley's twenty-fifth birthday in 1993, the trust automatically dissolved and Lisa chose to form a new trust, The Elvis Presley Trust, to continue the successful management of the estate, with Priscilla Presley and the National Bank of Commerce continuing to serve as co-trustees. In 1998, as Lisa Marie Presley's role in the management grew, Priscilla Presley chose to redirect her efforts by moving to an advisory position, continuing her close involvement and support while focusing more time on her own ever-expanding individual pursuits as a successful actress and businessperson.

The Graceland Operation Elvis Presley could have left one of the great fortunes of entertainment history, had he been one to worry about financial planning, rather than freely enjoying and sharing his wealth as he did. While the estate he left was by no means broke, there was a cash flow problem, especially with Graceland costing over half a million dollars a year in maintenance and taxes. It seemed logical for Priscilla and the executors to open Graceland to the public.

It's a business because people are still interested in everything to do with Elvis and Priscilla helps to run it at the request of the heir - her daughter. Lisa sold a major part of it in 2005 but why should an outsider have more to do with the business than an ex-wife and mother of Elvis's child?

Come out, Bluebelle! Have a seat over there on that comfortable sofa. Would you like a cup of tea? We do like a debate it's just that they get a little out of hand sometimes so stay with us.

Personally, I don't like the idea of ex-wives benefitting from the fame of their deceased husbands. I wonder if PP actually needed the money. Was she EP's inheritor does anyone know? If not, where did it all go? I believe he was ripped off by quite a few 'business people' during his lifetime, not least Colonel Tom (?) Parker, his erstwhile manager.

I m not outraged in the least it was an opinion I shared because I d just seen the woman on tv and thought it might be worth mentioning but outraged not in the least better things to worry about I presumed people liked a debate whether they agreed or disagreed bit boring if no one offered pd an opinion on anything Right I ll shut up now get back in my corner

DanniRae Thu 13-Oct-16 14:14:44

Well said vampirequeen.

Jane10 Thu 13-Oct-16 13:18:41

He never remarried. It doesn't matter really. I don't understand the OP's outrage.

BlueBelle Thu 13-Oct-16 13:09:28

No they were divorced

Ana Thu 13-Oct-16 13:08:00

You mean she wasn't? confused

BlueBelle Thu 13-Oct-16 13:03:29

I wouldn't even think that if she was his widow

Ana Thu 13-Oct-16 12:49:38

Priscilla Presley has appeared in quite a few movies, and I thought she was very funny in the Naked Gun series with Leslie Nielsen.

She was aso very pretty in those days, before she started on the plastic surgery!

So I don't think it's fair to say she's been living on Elvis's fame, although I must admit during the last few years she does seem to have become very involved with promotin his musical legacy.

POGS Thu 13-Oct-16 12:46:16

I agree.

vampirequeen Thu 13-Oct-16 12:43:38

Elvis was two things....a man and a business. All she's done is kept the business intact and increased the profits. Lot's of people want to visit Graceland etc. and the business she runs makes it possible. She also protects his name and image as much as possible. If she and the family didn't make money out of the business then someone else would. I'm sure Elvis the man would rather the money stayed in the family rather than to invisible corporate shareholders who would do anything to maximise profits.

POGS Thu 13-Oct-16 12:34:40

I can only go on the many documentaries we have had the opportunity to view but I like her.

She could have made her fortune 'bad mouthing', 'dish the dirt' 'be personal' about her husband but she has never done so . She always appears to portray a loving relationship that like millions of others changed over time but she has never said a bad word against Elvis Presley, quite the opposite as far as I have ever seen. I have certainly heard her speak of the break up not in a 'simpering ' way so perhaps we can only say what we see as individuals.

As for making a living off the back of Elvis she and Lisa have enough money , is it greed as the OP suggests, maybe but I think both Pricilla and their daughter Lisa have maintained a genuine love for Elvis and if they keep the memories of one of the worlds best known entertainers alive then it will only work if the public want to do the same. They obviously do as his fans are numerous.

BlueBelle Thu 13-Oct-16 12:17:49

Jane10 you can read all versions to point it as a Elvis s fault or her fault they were probably too young and the fame would have been very difficult He was incredible handsome one of the most handsome men I ve seen pics of but so sad he got into the Michael Jackson state of taking pills for this and pills to stop the reaction of those pills and pills to sleep and pills to wake up and lost all his looks and body, so terrible sad I still feel that as they had parted and were divorced she is not being true to herself to be making pots of money out of him
he only had the one daughter Lisa Marie and she has four children the grandson Benjamin Keough looks very like his grandad

Jane10 Thu 13-Oct-16 12:01:28

I had read that Elvis left her alone after the baby was born. Not interested. No wonder she looked elsewhere. She was very young indeed when they met too.

Jane10 Thu 13-Oct-16 11:59:56

Well at least they're keeping his memory alive and his music still popular.

GillT57 Thu 13-Oct-16 11:49:23

I find it rather creepy the way she is living off his memory to be honest. It may be an urban myth, but it was reported that when Elvis' death was announced, a PR person said 'good career move'. When he died he was a sad washed up, bloated parody of his talent, singing to audiences in Las Vegas. A very sad tale, but one that many, including his ex wife, seem to have sanitised and are now making a great income from. Shameful to my mind.

Oh yes thanks it works when I click next page - I CAN see a likeness, about the mouth - he was so good looking in the early days.

I still love this www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLMcBb8-rRg smile

NotTooOld Thu 13-Oct-16 11:23:39

Both the links work but if you click on the one I gave, look at the pic on the right. I can definitely see a resemblance to Elvis. Can anyone else? My DH says he can't!

seacliff Thu 13-Oct-16 11:10:03

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riley_Keough hope this works

NotTooOld Thu 13-Oct-16 10:51:30

www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=imgres&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwig_eHQv9fPAhUBvhQKHQRoAlgQjRwIBw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwallpaperfolder.com%2Fwallpapers%2Friley%2Bkeough&psig=AFQjCNHnqF9sCX6_Zoa428HeXtcSrssbAg&ust=1476438358144686

Ooh, yes. She is like her granddaddy. The above should be a link but I may have done it wrong. If it doesn't work just google her name. It's Riley Keough. I spelt it wrong before.

NotTooOld Thu 13-Oct-16 10:44:43

Gym coach? I didn't know that. In the book I read it gave the impression that he only married her because he promised her father (an army officer) that he would do so. Daddy didn't want EP mucking about with his young daughter otherwise. Of course EP did not remain true to her and this book implied she was rather a pain to be around anyway. Totally agree that she is earning money from his fame, though. He had everything really except a happy life, so far as one can tell. I'll look up Riley Keogh - I wonder if she is as good looking as her grandfather?

seacliff Thu 13-Oct-16 10:19:31

Coincidence - I listened to a review of American Honey yesterday (a road movie), and one actor is grand daughter of Elvis - Riley Keough. Never heard of her before, but she seems to have been gradually carving out her own career in her name, not like her mother.

Sad to think he never knew her.

merlotgran Thu 13-Oct-16 10:07:49

I'm not surprised she had an affair with the gym coach. He must have been a nightmare of a husband.

Teetime Thu 13-Oct-16 09:41:33

Apparently she is a very good business woman who made a success of Graceland which employs lots of people from the local community and supports charities.
