Anybody know what has happened to Daxon?

An update on 'what's happened to Daxon. I am executor to my late friend's estate. I recently received a letter, sent to my late friend, saying Daxon closing down and that my friend had £64 credit. I contacted them and explained, was told they would need to pass my enquiry to a different department. I emailed them as advised and have heard nothing since. I tried emailing them today but email has bounced back as unknown so I'm guessing they are bankrupt and I can kiss goodbye to my late friend's Credit claim. Immoral!

Thank you MOnica - that goes a long way to solving the mystery - I knew it was originally a French Company - and in fact, I have now emailed the French Daxon to see if I can order from them directly. They still have the "briefs" that I am so fond of - perhaps they will accept an order from the UK. I hope so!

Daxon is primarily a French company. I clicked on their UK website, that opened as usual and then came up with a flashing sign saying 'closing down sale'.

I have done some research on French websites and it seems that Daxon was owned by the same company that owned La Redoute and several other French mail-order companies, however it has been unprofitable for some years and the company was sold to its managing director for E1 about two years ago. He announced great plans to turn it round and make it profitable again. There is nothing on any French sites I can find to say it is in trouble and the French Daxon site is working normally with no 'closing down' banners.

I suspect that the British Daxon subsidiary was not profitable and therefore the decision has been made to close it down as part of the plan to return the company to profit.

I haven't heard of them either. They obviously didn't do enough advertising.

Well, I had never heard of them so they obviously don't advertise much.
However, it is sad to see another firm go out of business.
