Several people on GN made posts saying something like " Hooray - the Conservatives won the election! "

I'd like to ask if they, or anyone else who agrees with them, have seen the film "I, Daniel Blake" and, if so, have they any comment to make?

People who were not happy when the Conservatives won the election, please do not post on this thread.

you believe Blair is going to stand for parliament again? no way

My concern is UKIP, every time Corbyn opens his mouth on the benefits of immigration and ignores voters fears he is strengthening the UKIP vote .

I agree with Blair, Brown and Kinnock on Corbyn.

Are you surprised John McDinonald supports spending those millions on Buck House?

durhamjen Sun 20-Nov-16 23:31:46

I cancelled out the votes you had before. I see Tony Blair is going to come back to politics because he thinks Corbyn is no good. Then I'll just have to leave the party again.
It is also thought that if Libdems agree to give a second referendum, they will overtake Labour.

Anniebach Sun 20-Nov-16 23:19:57

If I don't vote how can you cancel a no vote?

durhamjen Sun 20-Nov-16 23:11:55

Only if you vote for someone. So what are you going to do?

Anniebach Sun 20-Nov-16 22:44:51

No Jen, I cancel out your vote

durhamjen Sun 20-Nov-16 22:37:57

I disliked him and didn't vote Labour. I voted Labour again when Ed took over. I will vote Labour when Corbyn is leader at the next election. I think I cancel out Annie's vote.

Anniebach Sun 20-Nov-16 13:21:50

True, I just csnnot vote for Corbyn either

Jalima Sun 20-Nov-16 12:41:29

I said the same thing twice there hmm

The pedants will be after me. grin

Jalima Sun 20-Nov-16 12:40:19

But Blair stood down after winning three elections Jalima

Yes, they disliked him but still voted Labour, had no faith in Ed, nice as he may be but still voted Labour, but are now talking about abstaining if there were to be another election soon because they would vote nothing but Labour - or not at all.

Anniebach Sun 20-Nov-16 09:32:26

The labour shadow chancellor supports the country paying for the work on Buck house !

Anniebach Sat 19-Nov-16 22:29:59

But Blair stood down after winning three elections Jalima, Brown had a difficult election, Ed ,as I said in an earlier post just didn't seem strong enough and seemed an innocent, moving to the left cost him votes too and winning the leadership by union votes angered many who were sure David Milliband would win, in the leadership contest he won the members vote .

We do need a strong leader

Ana Sat 19-Nov-16 22:19:43

I agree that it's a pity there isn't a stronger potential Leader at the moment. The longer Corbyn hangs on, the less credible a future Labour government seems.

Jalima Sat 19-Nov-16 22:10:39

They disliked Blair and had no faith in Ed but are now really worried because they think the present leader is unelectable.

Hello, Helio. Is it Groundhog Day?

trisher Sat 19-Nov-16 19:00:27

Well as Corbyn wasn't the leader at the last election Jalima it would seem impossible to blame him for Labour's defeat. Personally as I have often said the problem is that the Labour party failed to show any real opposition to the austerity measures already introduced by the Coalition. No point in changing to someone else if all they are offering is the same as what you have. Labour needs to offer real alternatives to any such policies and show that they can help those who are feeling the pinch. I believe socialist policies can do this and Corbyn has such policies. There are others in the Labour party who also have such policies but none stood as leader.

Anniebach Sat 19-Nov-16 17:04:11

I wonder how those who defend him would do the same if they had worked for the party for fourteen years , voted for him because they believed he was honest and then found whilst they had taken flack and mockery , manned stalls in depth of winter, stuffed thousands if envelopes , knocked countless doors he was working against them and defending the likes of George Galloway and Derek Hatton

Anniebach Sat 19-Nov-16 16:54:53

He will have so much in common with heads of state

Ana Sat 19-Nov-16 16:48:12

And let's not forget his Manhole Cover obsession hobby...

Anniebach Sat 19-Nov-16 14:42:26

We know he doesn't watch tv, Ant and Dec seem to be on telly often

Jalima Sat 19-Nov-16 14:38:28

Would he turn the garden of No 10 into an allotment or would he keep on his present one?
And how come he has so much time for digging and growing?
Our friends have taken on an allotment now he has retired (she hasn't retired yet).

Although he (the Leader of the Labour Party) probably doesn't waste any time at all on Gransnet. hmm

Anniebach Sat 19-Nov-16 14:38:19

I voted for Milliband , not with great hope though , well I voted for labour

Anniebach Sat 19-Nov-16 14:34:24

No idea Jalima, expect so, he is so into healthy living . Why does a PM making jam seem unnatural , can't imagine Wilson or Mac jam making when they were in no 10

Jalima Sat 19-Nov-16 14:31:23

Hooray - the Conservatives won the election!
That is the OP so I would have thought it was fairly reasonable to discuss why they did and why Labour did not - and I only need to ask my family why they either abstained or only grudgingly voted for Labour.

Jalima Sat 19-Nov-16 14:28:37

Is you-know-who a teetotaller?

Jalima Sat 19-Nov-16 14:27:49

I expect if it was £300 a bottle it was because it was quite old and they needed to be rid of it.
