pomegranets- just spent ages getting seeds out!

Just picked two off the tree in the garden for a friend to take back to UK!!! I bash them to remove the seeds, but they have to be very ripe.

My DH says the would draw yer ar*e ter yer elbows, he has such a way with words. I dont think the are that bitter

I love pomegranates think they taste wonderful I d never heard of poms as a child apples bananas and oranges was all I knew

My mother used to give us an ordinary, common or garden pin. Half a pomegranate was a real treat then.

I remember, as a child, how exotic pomegranates seemed and what a treat they were! Nothing seems like that anymore.

I agree with whitewave - very disappointing bitter taste.
The juice is supposed to be full of vitamins etc, but the labour involved - best to buy it commercially imo.

You are right bikergran, cut the pomegranate in half, hold it cut side down over a plate/board/ dish, and bash with a wooden spoon being careful not to bash your fingers at the same time.
Really quick and easy.

Jamie Oliver bashed them on a breadboard and the seeds fall out.

I seem to think if you cut pomy in half n bash it with wooden spoon...the seeds fall out (I could be wrong)
At our supermarket A*da we sell ready pre pared ones with the seeds in a tray (at a cost though)

I used to love sitting with cocktail stick when younger and getting the seeds out.
