Here we are again
Happy as can be
All good friends and
JOLLY GOOD COMPANY

Welcome...

soop Sun 01-Jan-17 14:00:24

Well goodness gracious me...I didn't expect to find so many of you lot gracing the kitchen. I'm chuffed to bits to read all your messages of good will and such-like. Such eloquence. I cannot tell you how happy I am to have the pleasure of your company. You are the tops. flowers

Corner We went to our bed at the usual time: 10.30. It was a very different New Year's Eve from others that we have enjoyed with neighbours (who are no longer with us). It was a pleasant evening, and we did toast the good health of our family and friends.

Galen We miss your merry banter. Continue to enjoy your boat trip. wink

granniequeenie Lona callgirl1 ann Your messages, like so many others, come from the heart. Thank you.

Gaga Thank you for your thoughtful gifts. MacS is admiring the flowers and I'm scoffing nibbling on the fudge. grin

Swanny the first brew of the New Year tastes like nectar. Thank you for popping in to tidy the debris boil the water and plump the cushions.

Rory's appetite has improved a smidgeon. He isn't sneezing as much. He continues to purr with gay abandon when he rests on *MacSporran's lap. wink

The photos, as always, are wonderful. The children have enjoyed a proper Christmas with treats galore. The expression on the faces of Cooper and Jackson say it all. As for wee Flynn...he's wearing an expression that says...OK, that was fun...now what? He looks very grown up. His hat really suits him.

It is sunny and the air is crisp. We had a pleasant walk. Took pics on the beach to share with you all.

I am glad that the fireworks are over. They were so loud (and close) before 11pm that I could hardly hear the TV. I was in bed, Tara was beside me and she decided to move, lying partly on my head, maybe that gave her comfort. The fireworks stopped around 12.15am so we both had a good night's sleep.

It is a grey day here today but thankfully no fog. If I could find the enthusiasm I should do more clearing up. I am so proud of my bedroom wardrobe, I managed to hoover it and have laid 2 cheap runners so it will be easier to keep clean.

NanaandGrampy Sun 01-Jan-17 11:35:30

Morning all!!

On my iPad so a short visit , once I can find my laptop again amongst the clutter I'll read through properly.

It passed in a flash for us , but sitting here now amongst the debris I have to say I loved the festive season just as much as always. We saw friends and family, we ate ( and drank) to excess. We saw politically incorrect panto and loved every second . We celebrated being a family with anyone we could rope in smile .

Couple of blips along the way (Coopers spectacular projectile vomiting on the the 30th at a family get together will go down in the annals of family legend!!) as will the knock on the door soon after ( no not the vomit police !!) but a neighbour who wished us seasons greetings before apologising for reversing his car into my brother in laws !!

I wish you all more than you hope for in 2017 , good health, support, love and the odd glass of something to speed you on your way !!

Our little ones send you their love !!

DaphneBroon Sun 01-Jan-17 10:24:21

Thank you swanny, glad to hear yesterday's cloud seems to have passed.
No first footing here, or festivities. DH tucked up in bed and Grace dosed with anti histamine to get her through the fireworks (seems to have worked) they were very loud at one point ??
Now to get on with 2017 which looks as grey as 2016 did!
Hope others are a bit more cheerful than I feel, kicks up the Jacksie gratefully accepted smile

Swanny Sun 01-Jan-17 10:18:09

Right, tea and coffee on the go, croissants warming and porridge for those who need it grin

Sorry I didn't extend my very best wishes to you all yesterday for the year ahead, or join you in a glass of something, but I was not having a good day so isolated myself and had an early night. Today I feel like me again and yesterday is done with - hurrah!

So did anyone go first-footing or were you first-footed? Not many homes have a supply of coal these days - what are the other traditional items to bring to the door?

Health and happiness to you all, cuddles to all who want them and (((hugs))) to those who need them

Swanny Sun 01-Jan-17 10:04:02

Good morning and Happy New year to all - oh, looks like I'm first in here. Better get the kettle on then ...

annsixty Sat 31-Dec-16 20:23:00

We have drunk our Prossecco, eaten our meal and drunk a toast to you all. Enjoy your evening, all of you and my very Best Wishes.

cornergran Sat 31-Dec-16 20:21:57

Quick visit to wish everyone all they hope for in the New Year. Wishing you all good health, or as good as it can possibly be and a peaceful mind. Thank you all for your company and support, it has meant much to me. We've had our Waitrose takeaway and a glass of Prosecco, doubt we will make it until 12, if those of you who can would party for us that would be wonderful

flowers for all.

grannyqueenie Sat 31-Dec-16 20:12:59

Just popping in to wish everyone well for 2017. 2016 has been kinder to me than I deserve, I've everything I need and the children and grandchildren are all happy, healthy and thriving in their different ways. My old boy is still by my side and we're both in good health, I'm not daft enough to think it'll always be so, on any of these counts. Seeing others in hard situations both here and in my real world remind me of that every day. Who knows what lies in store, but wishing us all good times ahead and courage for the not so good ones.

Gagagran Sat 31-Dec-16 18:54:53

As I am unable to drink due to a current medical issue, I have brought the Prosecco which I won in a Christmas raffle - hope some of you will take a drop?

I've brought some flowers for our lovely soop and a box of homemade fudge for Macs. Just to say thanks for all the hospitality, kindness and chuckles we have enjoyed in the kitchen again this year. Always a haven of peace in difficult times.

A Happy and Healthy New Year to all kitcheners and furry friends.
Love from Gaga xx

Charleygirl Sat 31-Dec-16 18:18:40

Daphne Flynn to me looks so much older than his months. He looks so intelligent in every photo I have seen.

OMG the fireworks have started already and I have not even thought about my supper. My lodger is still out I do hope she comes home soon.

kittylester Sat 31-Dec-16 18:10:36

I'm just popping in to wish all the lovely Kitchener's, both human and animal, a very happy, healthy and stressfree 2017! Thank you for your friendship and support over 2016.

The last of our family left yesterday and DH and I have just sat and recouped. I doubt we'll be up much past ten o'clock either.

Bellanonna Sat 31-Dec-16 18:08:08

And a happy New Year to our kind-hearted Kitchen hostess from me, too, as well as heartfelt good wishes for a healthy (healthier) 2017 to everyone?

callgirl1 Sat 31-Dec-16 17:38:12

So, so sorry Soop, I meant also to wish Rory well, and hope he`s soon better. Heaven help the vet!

callgirl1 Sat 31-Dec-16 17:36:23

That little chap would put a smile on the most miserable face!
But Grace, please DO calm down, stop getting so worked up!
Soop, I know I`m too late, but HAPPY NEW YEAR! And a Happy New Year to everyone on Gransnet.

DaphneBroon Sat 31-Dec-16 17:11:02

I think Waitrose will be shutting for about 20 minutes or so, are you sure you have all laid in enough stores?
I went over to pick up my diary £2delivery for click and collect (the same as I would have paid for 1 hours parking! )
Anyway the shop was going like the proverbial fair confused what do people do with it all?
I am getting sick of leftovers and a curry would be a welcome change, but alas DH no longer enjoys spicy food so it is Boxing Say ham, fried eggs and chips for our festive meal smile
If Gracie puts a smile on your face, how about this little chap?

Lona Sat 31-Dec-16 16:50:14

Ann ??
Soop my very best wishes and much love for you both next year, I hope it is uneventful in the nicest way!
To all the lovely, kind-hearted kitcheners, I wish for a happy and peaceful new year ?
My horoscope for the year says I have nothing to worry about!! I'll settle for that ?

Galen Sat 31-Dec-16 16:46:39

Very happy new year to all in the kitchen

From the high seas?⛽️?????⚓️?

soop Sat 31-Dec-16 16:28:41

I'm about to wish all our lovely Granspals farewell until the first day of the year 2017.

Thank you all for your on-line companionship. You lot are very special. I shall raise a glass of sparkling wine to you all and wish you well. smile moon

Charleygirl Sat 31-Dec-16 16:27:02

I agree soop definitely flowers for ann. There is no way that I could cope with 1/4 of what ann is doing. I understand that routine means everything to your H but you must have a life as well if at all possible. Dementia is a horrible disease as it affects many more than the sufferer. Is there any way that we can help you? You know that we are here in spirit but I think that it is company and chats that you would like. flowers

soop Sat 31-Dec-16 16:17:28

I would love to believe that you could enjoy a holiday of your choosing. I also appreciate that you wouldn't entertain the idea, knowing how upsetting and unsettling it would be for your husband. You are between a rock and a hard place. flowers

annsixty Sat 31-Dec-16 16:08:30

soopYou embarrass me. I am nothing like as heroic as you think. I just lead a frustrating and quite boring life but it has come slowly and I just get on with it. I don't miss much of past times because of my age. I would just love a holiday but I couldn't cope with taking H and leaving him is not an option. He wants me here and is very unhappy if I am not. He was very unsettled when I had 3 nights in hospital recently and getting him back to normal routine is hard work.

soop Sat 31-Dec-16 16:01:49

Charleyg You had me half believing...wink

Charleygirl Sat 31-Dec-16 15:57:08

soop the way people are shopping in Waitrose today, that is what it looks like. As I said it is the siege mentality.

Happy New Year to all and lets hope that 2017 is a better one for many.

soop Sat 31-Dec-16 15:55:59

baubles Have yourselves a lovely evening.
MacSporran adores real curries as created in authentic Indian restaurants. At one time he lived in Leicester. He knew every curry house in the city.

We are staying put. Lighting the fire. Enjoying home-made peace and quiet. Thank you for your good wishes.
