Good morning Kitcheners !!

And a very Merry Christmas to you all from me, Grampy and Sam !!

Just to thank you one and all for your company this past year , for sharing your lives with me and for allowing me to lie under the kitchen table swigging champagne out of the bottle and eating mini mince pies :-)

Xxx

callgirl1 Sun 25-Dec-16 01:15:28

I`m not really all that good with words, so may I just wish all at Gransnet, and ESPECIALLY the ones who inhabit Soop`s lovely kitchen, a very HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

cornergran Sat 24-Dec-16 23:22:12

I can onl guess how hard it is for you ann, but have some idea from seeing our neighbours in a similar position. flowers for you and all others who face a struggle each day. Wishing you the best Christmas possible.

Unexpected, beief visit before I try to go to sleep. Lovely if hectic day so I should be sleepy, don't seem to be!

That cake looks wonderful kitty, a budding Masterchef for sure.

Pleased you haven't been blown away soop, you sound prepared for anything

Can't believe you have still been sorting charley, having Christmas Day off is a really good plan tchsmile. Sorting under the influence wine. is never good!

There will be an early start with littlest tomorrow so best try to sleep. Think I've caught his excitement, although he doesn't really know what he is excited about I do tchgrin.

Once again all good wishes for Christmas, may it be the best it can be.

annsixty Sat 24-Dec-16 21:42:59

You are all so kind and understanding. Thank you and my blessing to you all.

Bellasnana Sat 24-Dec-16 21:35:45

annsixty you are very much in my thoughts. Having your DH as he is must be overwhelming for you and I wish I could offer more than just words to help you. flowers

Swanny Sat 24-Dec-16 21:22:53

Peace and goodwill ann. I know most of your time is spent looking after your DH but don't forget to look after you too ... if you don't look after you, who will look after him? Wishing you tranquility, serenity and the patience of a saint (((hugs)))

annsixty Sat 24-Dec-16 20:48:13

I am not on my own but alone so very best wishes to all actually on their own,
H has been asleep for some time and did not like the meal I cooked.
I deal with it as I have no alternative, so best wishes to all like me. We must look back on happier times as long as we don't wallow.

Charleygirl Sat 24-Dec-16 20:18:52

kitty that cake looks too good to slice- what a talented young man he is.

I spend about an hour sorting out my bedroom yet again when the phone rang so that was me gassing to a friend for an hour. Made myself a cup of coffee and returned because my bed was covered with clothes etc. I was there a short time and another friend rang so after that pleasant conversation I spent very little time clearing my bed and decided to give in. Maybe I was destined for better things but I will give it a rest this evening just having had a lovely supper.

Galen some of us are having lovely weather, warm with no wind or rain. I hope that you are relaxing and enjoying the food.

Happy Christmas to all

dustyangel Sat 24-Dec-16 20:13:53

Happy Christmas everyone. Whilst desperately trying to catch up with all the kitchen happenings so that I would get here in time, I seemed to keep getting stuck at Crafting's post about her dear brother, so I am especially pleased to see that he has recovered enough to come out of hospital and be somewhere that he can feel at home in.
Special wishes to all of you who are alone or feeling alone not through your own choice and I hope that next year is kind to you.

Thank you soop for opening your lovely kitchen to us all. Respect to MacSporran smile I can sit on the floor and I can get up again but it's not something I undertake lighly.

Hope you all have a lovely day tomorrow, with no bad weather or power cuts so you can stay warm and fed and pop in to GN if you want to.

Bellasnana Sat 24-Dec-16 19:05:03

And to you, Galen! How is it going on the high seas? Are your accommodations as grand as when we went in June? I still dream of that heavenly view from my bed. Thank you again. It was one of the best bits of my 'year in review' tchgrin

Galen Sat 24-Dec-16 18:35:29

Very happy xmas to all of you!

Wobblybits Sat 24-Dec-16 18:08:49

RIP Rick, he bought joy to so many.

Bellasnana Sat 24-Dec-16 17:46:18

Me too! That looks wonderful, kitty. I think you are allowed a bit of boasting.tchgrin

NanaandGrampy Sat 24-Dec-16 17:37:34

Would Seb like to share Kitty !! I for one am partial to a slice !!

kittylester Sat 24-Dec-16 17:26:52

Just a little touch of ma-type boasting. This is a picture of a Tunis cake made by Seb who is 9.

soop Sat 24-Dec-16 16:36:59

It's time to log off from our computer. Pitch black outside the window. The wind has abated somewhat. I do believe that it is getting warmer. Of course, it could be that my brew has warmed the cockles of my heart.

This evening I shall raise a glass of festive cheer to all our very dear Granspals. I wish you good health.

Bye for now. smile moon

Charleygirl Sat 24-Dec-16 16:33:39

glamma poor Oliver, how could you do that to him at Christmas?!!!

Bella us lot rarely stray from here as everybody is polite and helpful, yes, even wobbly with his tales!

soop Sat 24-Dec-16 16:31:30

Ooooh, Charleyg MacSporran will wear a smile on his face when I threaten him with your proposed visit. He likes to live dangerously from time to time. tchwink

glamma It's so good to welcome you back in the kitchen. Keep getting stronger. Oliver, bless him, will be almost as good as new. Salmon has healing qualities...or so I believe. Would you believe that Rory now favours tuna in spring water. MacS has made a note to stock up the cupboard. That's the same cupboard stocked to capacity with the finest gourmet food for felines. And to think that he used to live on mees and scraps that kindly folk treated him to. tchgrin

Bellanonna We've had just one brief power cut so far. The worst ever, continued for seven days. We were compensated for loss of stuff in the freezer and the inconvenience that resulted. It all happened during the time we had not only a hurricane but the deepest snow-fall we've ever seen since moving to Scotland. The poor local farmers lost a good many sheep. They were trapped and died in almighty big snow-drifts. The landscape looked lovely. In reality, it was a bit of a nightmare.

Bellanonna Sat 24-Dec-16 15:12:32

I haven't been in recently soop but was thinking about you and the awful weather you've been having. Keep safe.
A very merry Christmas to you and all the Kitcheners, and hope to pop in more often in 2017. X

glammanana Sat 24-Dec-16 15:06:32

Sending warmest best wishes to Soop and all kitcheners even though I have been on the missing list a while this year due to my accident I have still managed to pop in every now and then and have always been made welcome by you lovely ladies, thanks so much xxx glamma.
Quick update on Oliver he is all healed up and back to his usual bouncy self he had a couple of days being spoilt (oh bought him some salmon as he thought he was not eating properly) but I think he (ollie) was just taking advantage of OHs good nature.smile

Charleygirl Sat 24-Dec-16 14:44:38

soop if this was not Christmas I would be giving MacSporran a severe talking to because before he knows it Rory will not be able to sleep on his own and his master will setting up camp for the night wherever Rory sleeps.

What will happen when you go on holiday? Will he starve because his Lord and master has deserted him? Has anybody told MacSporran that Rory is not neglected? He is better cared for than Tara and that is saying something!

Please threaten MacSporran with my arrival after the festivities are over! I will sort him out.

soop Sat 24-Dec-16 13:36:40

Elegran Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh tchgrin

Below is this morning's ferry returning from Islay. And the wee cake baked [for all persons of a certain age] by the school children in the village.

soop Sat 24-Dec-16 13:31:39

grannyqueenie When you've finishes kissing Wobbly us lot will be waiting in a dis orderly queue.

callgirl1 That makes two of us. The ironing board is banished to the cupboard.

DaphneB We've treated ourselves to a full set of 'Dads' Army' episodes. Not to watch all at once, mind. We enjoy the sense of humour that doesn't try to be too clever or "smutty".

Dear kitty and Mr Kitty...what a buggeration! All that you can do is keep warm and rest, rest, rest. flowers

cornergran Peace and contentment is, in my mind, the very best of bonuses. This is my wish for you. smile

Charleyg Cats! tchhmm They seem to get away with almost anything. Rory has decided that he prefers to be hand fed! MacS cubes freshly cooked chicken and sits on the floor beside him. I'll say no more.

Greetings to you, mrshat. And a warm hug for good measure.

Swanny You deserve a big, shiny, Granny Gold Star. Well done. Your message comes from the heart. Thank you.

Crafting Good news regarding your brother. Being "at home" - wherever that may be, is the best place on earth. He will be well cared for.

Marelli I've taken a pic of the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry especially for you. We lost power for a very short spell. All is well at the moment.

baubles Greetings with our love.

NananandGrampy Three loud cheers from a blustery Kintyre. You have had a good result after much fussin' and faffin. You even have your very own wee mechanic. It doesn't get much better. Thank you for giving us lot some lovely images to smile about.

Greyduster tchgrin That naughty man had better stay put until he's well-sober. I bet he can strum a merry tune on that ukulele of his. wink

annsixty You are a lovely lady.

Lona You too. In fact, as I'm allowed to say soppy stuff during the festive season, I shall do just that. You lot are marvellous. I feel blest to have your company. To be in the same room with all of you, would be the biggest treat of all.

grannyqueenie Sat 24-Dec-16 13:20:00

Glad you've survived the winds, soop it looks like it's been pretty wild where you are. We had a holiday on beautiful Islay this year, the lady in the B and B said power always went off on Christmas Day, hope that doesn't happen to you! Wishing peace and joy to you and yours x

soop Sat 24-Dec-16 12:38:10

Ta-dah! I am virtually gathering you lovely lot into my sitting room. A hug for everyone. A soppy kiss for Wobbly. Tyke!
You have all been so busy and I need to catch up before posting messages. To begin with, for any of you who are feeling under the weather, for whatever reason, I hope that over the next few days you will take time to relax and enjoy whatever it is that lightens your heart. I do know what it is like to be alone. At that time, I was young enough to work in a busy village inn. I was glad to have something to keep me occupied. What would I do if I lived alone now that I'm older? I think that I would volunteer to help out in the care home.
I'm not going far. I have your messages to read.
