. Have got a bit idle in recent years and resorted to using gravy granules but the gravy isn't a patch on the real thing.
We used to have bread and turkey dripping in the evening on Christmas Day. Beef dripping was a favourite of my parents. Those were the days

Tonight OH decided to cook the wing rib joint intended for Christmas Day. We bought it a few days ago and thought it would keep well in the fridge but it was beginning to smell a bit meaty. It looks (and tastes) delicious but I'm not sure how to resurrect it if we slice it up and freeze it. We had a little taste of the dripping too -used to eat it on toast with a liberal sprinkling of salt. Yum, yum.
Had two lovely days with the DGs. They really enjoyed the ice-skating and hardly fell over at all. Great fun having them to stay but I fell asleep within minutes of them going home this evening.

The cleaning was put on hold in favour of an impromptu bus trip to a biggish town, crazy I guess but I like the crowds and lights when I don't need to shop and can just wander. So tomorrow I clean

Cornerg Every one of us needs to vent our frustration from time to time. It's only natural. Tesco was manic this morning. Loud music. Bustling shoppers. I find that being amongst so much mayhem a trifle overwhelming.
DaphneB As the weather forecast for tomorrow is dire, we did the Friday care home visit today. The residents with dementia, appear to be comfortable and cared for. I hope with all my heart that when my time comes, I go out with an almighty bang (not a long draw-out whimper)
We had a dental appointment this afternoon. The weather is atrocious. Between here and Tarbert, (10 miles) we happened across three accidents. Slush on the roads. Blustery wind. Occasional thunder and lightening. Hope to goodness that we do not have a power cut.
I was told of a wee girl whose family are going through a "difficult time". The doll that I won in the raffle, is going to her. I hope that she is thrilled.
Seems we have all been having an ironing-fest! I've just finished mine, mostly DS's chefs whites. He's working non-stop over the festive season so all his uniforms are clean and ready to go.
DD3 set off this morning to stay with DD1 in Minneapolis for two weeks. Flight to Heathrow had a 3 hour delay so she has been re-routed via Amsterdam and should arrive in the US the same time as scheduled.
I'm fighting a cold and have a very croaky voice, which I hadn't realised until I phoned to enquire about a side board I had ordered, and out came this silly little squeak

soop, I'm sorry to hear about your friends - it's something that happens as we age isn't it, but it gets no easier to deal with.
Crafting, I hope your brother is on the mend by now. My mum's home has a reoccurrence of the norovirus but mum is serenely ignoring it and eating anything and everything they put before her.
We did our meals on wheels run to Yorkshire yesterday which was really appreciated, As some of you know, my DSiL is somewhat depressed and matters were made worse by the fact that their dog had died on Tuesday. 
I hope we cheered them up a little. BIL'S op seems to have been a success, so that is something.

Not that organised Corner I am like a swan....serene on the surface - paddling like crazy under water to simply stay afloat. I am blessed ??? with a lack of a stress bone and I rarely stress over things preferring to go with the ' what will be will be ' mantra ( doesn't always work of course )
By this time tomorrow I hope to have my new car and my scooter back...but I have little faith after the past 6 months of over promising !!

I'm a happy soul this morning, had eight hours sleep, unheard of but it does make a difference! Sun is shining here but I believe that isn't the case further North so hope all are warm and dry.
Charley, Our 'boxy thing' is Mr C's very expensive Bose system (getting on a bit now). it stores all the music (no idea how), works as surround sound, radio and DVD player. Sadly doesn't make the tea. It seems to be accessing everything but no sound comes out. Oops! Have persuaded Mr C his world hasn't ended, we can still play dvd's and just use the tv for sound and there are other ways of listening to music. It was just a bit much with two ratty children and a stressing Mr C! We have a plan, Bose help line for advice and if all else fails pack it up and take it to an expert. But not until after Christmas! There was a local 'expert' near our previous home who sold us the wretched thing who would come to us if needed, there isn't one here. It isnt important in the scheme of things. No one has been harmed! Hope your kitchen remains dry, water leaks are the very devil. Will try more laundry later, the washing machine is old, we inherited it with the bungalow when we moved, so far it has worked well, hoping the issue yesterday was just a blip. If not will deal with it next week. No more stresses allowed now!
You aren't alone with ironing knickers and tea towels callgirl, have always done it. It seems not everyone does . Sounds as if health challenges are surrounding you Daphne, but the plans for Christmas and beyond sound just right. Your son in law is a gem and you have thought of everyone's needs.
Best get on. Cleaning today and if I'm not careful my slow start will turn into a slow day. It seems we are having a family day here middle of next week, so delighted as we didnt think work commitments would allow. Feeding them all will be a challenge, we'll cope and they will help. Lovely treat. Have a good day all, keep warm, dry and well.
