All good friends and
JOLLY GOOD COMPANY
Welcome...
Nothing like a visit to the kitchen to cheer us up is there corner?
. Hope all the poorly kitcheners feel better soon. ((Huggs)) for anyone feeling a bit down. Sleep well. Night night
Me too. Needed a smile
Oh Daphne I was laughing so much at the otters, I totally missed the mine pies.
kitty, you have cheered me up no end. Thank you
The mine pies went with a bang too! ?
Or was it a case of "Hands off, they are MINE!"?
Shouldn't mock!
Opters kitty? Would that be heliopters? Do they come along to pick up the otters after the club meeting
. I think you need a
kitty and a nice sit down in a quiet corner
opters!! I've had a stressful day!
I love otters
.
kitty can I join the club too please? Does one have to dress up as an otter or just pretend to be one? Or perhaps you hide an otter and then just whip it out and surprise everyone with it. Anyway, sounds like a bit of fun to start off the Christmas season and if Daphne and corner are in the club it's bound to be friendly
Pass a mine pie and a huge dollop of brandy butter, I need sustenance!!
DD2's FIL died a week ago, leaving 4 sons. My son in law is the most laid back lovely person (he's my favourite but don't tell the others) Unfortunately his brothers aren't and the wrangling about venues, menus services etc have started. DSIL doesn't argue just smiles and goes home and off loads on DD2 who then offloads on us!
Soop, you seem a bit brighter - I hope you are feeling it.
Db and corner, can I join your club of otters out? It's just what I would do too.
soop I haven't painted for about 5 years (looking after DGD on painting club day) but no excuse now they have both started school.
Except that the room where they meet is freezing cold so I may wait until spring!
Sometimes it goes like that, but mine are just for fun and nowhere near the skill level of your creations! However, I think you have to feel well to be creative, so get well soon.
Well done Gagagran my mince pie creating is not up to scratch either at the moment; anyway we have been to see the infants' Christmas play which was lovely, and of course, DGD2 was loveliest of all
.
There do seem to be a lot of viruses around now; I am trying to avoid them but it's impossible - I do hope everyone who's feeling under the weather is better soon.
Your wish is my command soop - large caketin full of mince pies I made this afternoon on the kitchen table plus a bowl of brandy butter. Hope they touch the parts that your tablets didn't reach!
P.S. Please may I have my tin back when it's empty? Need it to take mince pies to DS's for Christmas.
Jalima I've made a mess of the latest watercolour. That's three pigs ears in one week.
I've decided to pack all the clutter away until I'm feeling more creative.
We've packed the gifts to our grandchildren. I'm about to have a much-needed
. Sorry, rosesarered our kitchen cupboard need replenishing with mince pies. All donations will be gratefully and graciously received.
Love to you all. It's time for me to log off until tomorrow. Best wishes to all our Granspals who are going through a difficult time.
I realise that I've a good deal of catching up to do. Just as soon as I feel more like my "normal self" I shall make amends.
My youngest son is flying to Oman today. He's to stay with a paragliding friend to spend a week learning to fly with a motor. He already instructs on the wind-power paragliding down in Sussex. Yay!
TriciaF You have every right to feel hugely proud of your son and his wife. Their generosity of spirit will make a real difference to the children they nurture.
Galen start packing your finery. The pearls are a must. You are an elegant dude.
soop I have found that some antibiotics don't suit me and make me feel worse. My file at the doctors now reflects this. Can't expect everyone to react the same. Hope the new ones work quickly.
DaphneB You are being true to yourself. There should be no need for you to feel apologetic.
I hope that your husband will feel the benefits of his blood transfusion.
The news distresses me greatly. I was talking about such things with bags and she said something like...we must continue to hope (for resolutions to the suffering of others).
corner I wish that I could make you feel very much brighter.
TriciaF I'm not religious. I am spiritual. However, just this morning, I've been taken off a course of tablets that may have been responsible for the horrible side-effects. MacSporran visited the surgery and returned one lots of tablets and returned with a new prescription.
fleas on donkeys I think!!
I will let you know after the Nativity, I will have a good look
Donkey fleas ? are they fleas as big as donkeys or fleas on donkeys, just asking.
I should really get back to doing some painting because it is so soothing and you can get lost in it, even if the results are not what you hoped for!
Perhaps the scratchiness is due to the donkey fleas mentioned on another thread.
Oh dear, another thing to worry about (the Indian babies) as well as watching the babies in Yemen last night
I have to agree that I'm not finding much fun on GN atm. I've enrolled on an online art site, cost £100 for a year but it is brilliant and I have learn't a lot, main;y that my paintings are rubbish! Can recommend it for any keen artists, you can get a week free to try it out -- www.arttutor.com/
DaphneB - I've known about that for some years. That's why I'm so proud of my 2nd son (who was right B... in his youth) and his wife. They can't have children, so moved to India (he works there) and are fostering/adopting four Indian children, from just after birth.
They have 3 girls and one boy. The baby girls aren't needed
.
Still lurking here as get up and go has got up and gone!
daphne you can't know how relieved I was to read about your cheque decision. It's something I have done in the past, thought it was just me! My C thought I was crazy, I didnt and have never regretted it, other than a bit of a wonder if I was really so unusual
. Pleased your husband is feeling better, very impressed you finished your cards in one day. Useful reminder to me to finish ours, best quit lurking and get on with them. Doesn't required much energy.
Agree with you about the scratchiness, makes uncomfortable reading. There's a bit on the web about the babies, now there's something to get het up about
I'm really off now.
.
Good heavens there is a "scratchy" element on GN at the moment!!
Happy to hunker down here and about to attempt to reason with soop to please, please take life more easily - prevention of something worse is better than cure. You both need each other so do it for mac sporrans sake too!
Am I silly? I have just written a cheque for £25 to not go out to dinner with former work colleagues. All perfectly nice people, but it will be a large gathering (and an indifferent meal!) and I don't really do "life and soul of the party" so as I have to pay anyway, I am choosing to prefer to pay and NOT go. Next year I need to find a prior engagement. I feel a bit bad as the man who organises it is a sweetie, but I am just not in the mood.Just too much coming up. I have written our Christmas cards,
DH is feeling better after his blood transfusion.
OMG I am listening to Radio 4's PM about babies being trafficked in India and buried remains being found. Aged 10months to 4 weeks, I feel absolutely sick, I could weep.
It will be all over the news tomorrow (shudder)
