Charleygirl, how could you suggest the germs came from a child? They absolutely never share them with adults . Suspect this germ carrier was an adult, was invited into a house where everyone was sneezing, didn't realise until it was too late. I've decided it is 'nannaflu', the absolute worst type to get. .

Pleased you will live, Galen, the cruise will be ideal for recovery, if you have a magic cure could you share it, please? I have no patience with germs!

Neighbours are important greyduster, fingers crossed for lovely new ones for you. One of ours recently said they were worried when we moved in, theee years on they are still worried. Think he was joking .

I'm so pleased that my days of carting muddy boys all over the county are over. I didn't mind netball so much though watching all my children's sport was freezing - except the boys cricket which was just boring. Please don't tell them I said so.

Now, we turn up to the dgc things if the weather is ok and then they are really pleased to see us!

DGS1 has just joined a new team and they count it as a success if they lose by less than ten goals.

kitty, what a lovely and talented little boy Bertie is. The main downside of having a football/hockey/rugby player in the family is shivering on the touchline on a winter morning. We do it for love, don't we? My 11-year-old footballer is out of action for the time being because he had to have a huge abscess in his armpit drained ten days ago.
I hope you really are on the mend, soop. There are a lot of viruses around at this time of year and the flu vaccine doesn't protect us from all of them. x

Kitty I'm sure it will be the first of many. You'll have the joy of watching him improve his skills as he grows. Congratulations, Bertie! I was sad to see yesterday that our neighbour's have a sale sign up on their house. My heart did sink a bit but it was not entirely a surprise - they are relatively young and, having seen their girls grow up and move out, they are now looking for a "project". Shame though; they are lovely people. It's been a real pleasure to live next door to them, which is more than could be said for our last n.d.n! Hey ho! Like the new kitchen, soop - look forward to dropping in again!

How lovely to be meeting in real life Bella and Lona - I hope to hear all about it when I return from an epic trip to Bluewater. Its somewhere I do love as its all indoors so makes it supper easy for me and my scooter. It also gives Grampy a serious bit of exercise as I head off and he has to keep up !![wink}

Oh I am totally envious Daphne . It is Jacksons nativity today and I sooo wanted to see it but it is only 2 tickets per family so I shall have to wait for pictures and for him to tell me how it went.

I asked my daughter to mention to the PTA that an extra performance where tickets are sold would not only raise money but let people like me who would be happy to pay see our grandchildren's plays etc.

It's barely light here - surely it's not Midwinter yet? Bleak enough though.
Felt very torn last night as I had arranged to pick up DD2 and Flynn from London on Friday and bring them up to us for the weekend, then DD1 rang to say she had a spare ticket for the DGS' Nativity play (both in the same one for the last time until they are both in the upper school) and DGS1 is Joseph! On FRIDAY. In Birmingham. Oh what was a Granny to do?
Fortunately DD2 seemed happy to reschedule for Saturday (and actually I prefer the thought of NOT being on the M25 on a Friday afternoon) so apart from clocking up 300 miles in 2 days I have got it sorted. I think.

kitty, just seen your post. What a proud young man. Isn't it lovely to see the little ones bloom? Could do with that cuppa, Mr C is still snoring, I mean breathing heavily , so this morning's tea run seems to be delayed, will enjoy one here.

Soop, are you better? Starting a new portrait sounds really positive if you are really up to it but not visiting the care home makes me wonder if you are still feeling horrid.

My sympathies Galen, it is the worst time of year to feel rotten. At least the cruise lines don't interrogate about whatever type of flu in the way they do about tummy upsets. The germs will leave you before boarding. There is time!

My regular buggeration the sore throat is back, littlest had the runniest nose in the country (guaranteed ) but I don't think I can blame him, it is bad timing though. I will do my best to ignore it and have a catch up day today, off visiting our friend tomorrow who also has a cold, we can grumble together. Lots of pre Christmas enjoyable things on the horizon, nothing will be allowed to get between me and them . Am committed to a chunk of volunteering at the weekend, so please all cross your fingers for a quick eviction this time!

I'm just going to post a photo of 4 year old Bertie, who was awarded 'best Player' at his football club. He was beside himself with pride.

I am so bored. The car that has the dog crates in is sick and the garage does not seem to understand the urgency. OH has been to work in our new car but the dogs find it too high to get in. So I have been at home dog sitting and working on the accounts which is not my favourite job, and now finished. It is too cold to garden. Tomorrow I am going in to work and leaving the dogs for a few hours as OH has a problem with the cnc programming (deja vu). All the ironing is done, the house is clean(ish). I might be reduced to spring cleaning ??
