I opened the front door this morning and the equivalent of a bucketful of dead leaves blew in before I had a chance to shut it again! Then, rather than cancel the walk we had planned to go on in the Peak District today, DH suggested we just call in the bank and then have a walk around one of the nearby parks instead, because of the weather. I was not keen, but haven't been out for a while, but the wind was so strong and gusty, it quite literally blew me off my feet and I ended up on the ground! Battered but not bruised fortunately. I said to him "why does it blow me all over the place and not you?" "You’re presenting a larger surface area than me," he said, "you need to lose some weight!" And skittered off up the path before I could find something to bash him with. Where is that 'Nana kills Grampy' thread again?

The weather is deteriorating at a rate of knots. The amber light is flashing. This may mean that we're about to lose the internet connection. If so...I shall return as soon as possible.

Charleyg My friend is possibly one of the busiest people on the planet. What she packs into a day, leaves me breathless. I earn myself a little pin money. I also like the fact that after the session, when MacSporran comes to take me home, we all sit together for 30 minutes and chew the cud blether. It is fun to be in the company of both her and her husband.

I'm hoping that you can arrange a lift to the hospital. You are not fit enough to be driving, especially if the weather is anything like it is here.

anno We take it in turns to wash the dishes. We share all the domestic chores duties. When I returned from yesterday's care home visit, MacSporran had washed the breakfast dishes, made the bed, emptied the grate and vacuumed around the house. I know that he performed these tasks not because he told me so, but because my friend collects me immediately after breakfast for the trip to Campbeltown and I leave the rest to him. It works both ways. We're a good team.

kitty Poorliness Thank you, Seb. The gales in this 'ere neck of the woods are horrendous. I went as far as the letter box ate the end of the drive and the wind took my breath away. I had to hang on to the wall as I headed for the front door. Naturally at that very moment, Rory made up his mind to dash past me. I struggled to close the door. Lo and behold Rory wanted IN...I did use a few mild expletives at the time.

Gagagran I'm relieved to hear that the result of the procedure doesn't indicate an ulcer. Gastritis is very unpleasant. Your GP will no doubt suggest a different course of medication. The sooner your appetite returns, the better.

I hope by the time you read this you will be recovering from your procedure nelliemoser and will soon feel good effects.
Talking of PJ's I have had to take Grace for her bedtime turn around the block for the last two nights , in my PJ's plus thick sweater, furry boots and duffel coat. TG our village is deserted at night! I'm not sure it was advisable but better than being got out of bed at 3 to let her out.
Dishwasher is beyond economic repair apparently, but the loo in the en suite now flushes so I get my bathroom back to myself.( We have a raised seat or "throne" in the en suite and downstairs for DH and of course I had to move it into "my" bathroom for him. I felt curiously deprived of "my" space!)
Feeling like a limp dishcloth but at least the temperature has turned so I expect, unlike the dishwasher but like her Maj, , I am on the mend

Mr C was out in his pj's last week adding to the re-cycling container in the front garden. When I wondered, politely you understand, if trousers or even a dressing gown would have been more appropriate he said 'no, it's not cold'. I give up .

Take care on the M1 kitty, it's wild this morning. My old boy is out in his dressing gown chasing our wheelie bin up the street, before he sets to emptying the dishwasher. Me? I'm lying in bed being lazy contemplating as I start the day!

DH seems to think he is in charge of our dishwasher too. We usually run it overnight, as we are on Economy7 and DH can empty it while I have a shower, but occasionally he thinks it's not full enough but then it needs to go on straight after breakfast which means it's out of action for clearing up purposes, costing more and I have to empty it!!

Men and dishwashers could well sustain a thread of its own.

I have not been on here much today. I have got to go to bed soon.

I am having the completely knackered facet joints in my lower back zapped again tomorrow. Injections of steroids, anaesthetic, and then needles with an electric current to fry off the nerve endings. That stops the joints from hurting but not getting worn out.
I have been having this since 2008 and it has helped a lot at first but the joints still keep wearing away and have been hurting a lot more on very little walking recently.
I wonder how long this can continue.

What more is that the chairs in the waiting rooms are just impossible for me to sit on without other nerves in the back getting squashed. I think I will have to negotiate for a typist chair to sit on. If the angle of the chair back is wrong it hurts like hell. I feel am being B awkward about asking for a different chair.
I will wait and see what happens.

cornergran, I have heard that disputes about the best way to stack the dishwasher are the main cause of marital disharmony!

soop every time I see a mention of La La Land (which is quite often at the moment) I think of us lot in the kitchen. Your comment about the dishwasher having to be tiddled with made me laugh. We have had a dishwasher for years and no matter how well I stack it, my DH has to tiddle with it every time before he turns it on

Daphne I do hope that at least your dishwasher is now working. It is too late to organise hospital transport for tomorrow, very difficult. It sounds as though you need a few days in bed rather than your idea of resting which is sitting down between tasks.

soop can your friend not do her own ironing? She would possibly have remarkably less if she did! You also need a rest.

corner I would be inclined to keep Mr.C a tad longer because he is fairly useful when the tech things go wrong with monotonous regularity.

Galen it sounds as though you should also be tucked up in bed rather than contemplating work on Thursday. This lurgy does not fly away overnight it would appear.

Oh Galen, I've survived this bug and can say from experience it is seriously horrid, maybe seek advice - from somewhere? Work uncertainty can't be helping.

Hang in in there Daphne, it will pass, honestly it will. I feel as normal now as I ever do energy wise. You will be over it soon. If not just yet how far is the hospital? Is a taxi feasible? Can someone give you a lift? Just make life as easy as you can.

It's a horrid bug, I burst into tears the other day because I couldn't remember where something was that Mr C was looking for. Usually I grin and tell him it is wherever he put it last. Be kind to yourself. I hope the plumber means the dishwasher is now working, otherwise paper plates sound to be a necessity. As do frozen meals.

It's horrid when we feel as if we can't cope, that's been today, tomorrow doesn't need to be the same and if it should be it will pass, I promise

If you need a smile just think of the marbles on the stairs chez n&g. We dont have stairs any more so I would need an alterrnative dispatch method .
