Yesterday my best friend came for a cuppa and I dunked a biscuit in my cup of tea....my friend was shocked and stated that she thinks its bad manners and quite common haha!! We did laugh about it and I shall still dunk and she never ever will...what do gransnetters think??
I was always told that dunking is common, but I couldn't care less, and dunk whenever I have tea & biscuits. Shortbread is the best to dunk with. Mind you, I do feel guilty whilst dunking.
I don't think it's common, especially in your own home. I wouldn't do it in someone else's because that would be when the soggy bit would fall in the cup.
I have two Digestives for breakfast and dunk them. I might not dunk if I were out or in company. My DH puts up with it and I tolerate his Marmite and Piccalilli.
Couldn't bear to dunk anything in my tea - yukky bits floating in it! On the other hand I do need cantuccini to dunk in my cappuccino (And I don't mind the bits in that?)
DUNK! As a little girl I used to dunk my ginger biscuit in my dad's tea and he'd pretend not to notice - well, there were crumbs floating there. Yes, my parents thought it 'common' and I was told never to do it in 'public' but oooh it's sooo nice; unless it falls in
I'm obviously in need of some dunking coaching. If I try with anything less solid that a ginger nut I end up with a morsel clutched between two fingers while the rest slowly dissolves into my tea.
Now Cadburys milk chocolate dunked in hot chocolate - that I can manage.
